Hey there, welcome to my first
post for Spirit Wars 2021.
It was quite nice to use the poltergeist who’s on our team.
The two of us answered the questions for each other to stick with today’s collab theme.
─────━┿──┿━─────
Name:
My name is Poltergeist!
Preferred Pronouns:
I use he/him pronouns please.
Age range:
13-17
About me:
I’m just your friendly neighborhood poltergeist floating around. I love to read, write, watch anime, code, I’m a massive theater kid and a huge nerd.
Favorite Genres:
To be honest, I read a lot of YA fantasy and all types of horror, but I also enjoy romance from time to time (especially if it’s gay) and I love reaing comics too. Most of what I write somehow ends up being romance (mainly because up until now all I wrote was fanfiction) but I also like writing realistic stories with darker themes (emo kid go brrr), horror, and fantasy. At the moment I’m writing a historical fantasy.
Favorite Books & Authors:
Too many to count
Off the top of my head a few of my favorite books are Carry On by Rainbow Rowell, The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black, the Land of Stories series by Chris Colfer, the Percy Jackson series by Rick Rioridan, Good Omens by Terry Pratchet and Neil Gaiman, most of Edgar Allan Poe’s works, Frankenstein by Mary Shelly, the list goes on and on really. A few of my favorite authors are Brandon Sanderson, Edgar Allen Poe (obviously lol), Terry Pratchet, Neil Gaiman, William Shakespere (yes I actually like his works), Rick Rioridan, and as much as I hate to it it, if you look past all the racism, H.P. Lovecraft is a really good writer (too bad he had to be extremely racist, even by the standards at the time and just all around super problematic smh)
Fandoms:
Your Turn To Die is my latest obsession and the fandom I’m the most active in. Others include Danganronpa, Jreg, Game Theory, Sanders Sides (though I’ve recently fallen out of it), Witch’s Heart, technically ROTG, Helluva Boss, Hazbin Hotel, The Owl House, Corpse Husband, MCR, Panic! At the Disco, Cavetown, Dodie, Chloe Moriando, I’m a huge theater nerd and I pretty much like almost all musicals, That Awkward Magic, Percy Jackson, I still kind of like Harry Potter despite JK Rowling, OSP, Doki Doki Literature Club, probably other stuff that I’m forgetting lol.
What are your favorite type of blogs to make?:
Story blogs I guess? I don’t really do much else lol, but I was thinking of maybe doing book reviews and poetry soon.
What got you into reading/writing?:
I’ve always loved reading to be honest, even when I couldn’t and my parents read to me, but I first really getting into writing when I was in about fifth grade, I was really into the My Little Pony fandom and there was this called DisneyFanatic2364 who made an audio drama of her fanfiction, and that’s how I got into fanfiction. I used to love her stories so much it inspired me to write some on my own, and now I’m here, dreaming about making stories for a living.
What is the first serious work you read/wrote?:
I honestly don’t the first book I ever read. There’s a very good chance it was some sort of dolphin book, but some standouts from my childhood were The Tail of Emily Windsnap that I read from like 1st grade to 4th grade and The Tale of Despereaux that I read in 1st grade and did a book report on that I was really proud of because 1st grade me thought it was like this big challenging book to finish in the month of time we had or whatever.
The first thing I’ve ever posted online ever was a My Little Pony Fanfic in about fifth grade or so called Twinkling Stars (I think it’s still on my old Wattpad ) where it was supposed to be this murder mystery romance with Rainbow Dash and this one character named Soarin and the twist was going to be that Soarin’s dad was the murderer or something. I only wrote three chapters though. The first finished thing I’ve ever posted is this Sanders Sides songfic to the song Ballad of the Mona Lisa for, funny enough, an amino challenge on TSFA that I’d won second place for during my first year of high school. (That one I think is still up on my current Wattpad ).
I guess I technically do have something officially published. Last year I entered a writing contest and my piece was chosen to be published in their collection. At the time I was really proud of it and I still kind of am even though I don’t really think it’s good. I still consider myself a writing newbie after all. (Funny enough I posted that one here on my amino profile).
How did you find B&W and what encouraged you to stay?:
Now that’s a really funny story. Someone on a different writing amino complained about being bullied in a chat on *this* amino, so I ed this amino and the chat to check it out. Funny enough the people in the chat ended up being really nice and I vibed with them a lot (the other person just couldn’t take criticism) and I’m still there to this day.
How has your experience at B&W changed since you first ed (if at all):
I don’t know honestly, my time on here kinda went something like this: I used to post and talk to people on here often, I had an existential crisis, started hating all of my writing, didn’t come on for months, and now I’m back lol.
Describe some of the relationships with other s you’ve formed through B&W (or how you feel about the relationships you’ve made here in general):
I really like the people here, they’re nice to talk to and though I’ve only really ed one chat, I’m having a nice time here. I just recently ed the Spirit Wars and it’s gotten me really motivated to write again.
