My love of deg clothing struck again. I know a lot of people have different interpretations of what Azula’s aesthetic would end up being if ATLA was set in modern times. In my case, I can’t help but visualize her as being, as I put it, “on the preppier side of a Hot Topic.” The choice to use plaid and thigh highs may have also drawn a little inspiration from Heathers.
This time around, I decided to use the comics designs as the drawing reference for Azula instead of the show. It’s made the proportions come out a little differently on the face.
Supplies used are copic sketch markers, illustration pen, and an ink brush pen to intensify the black of the background. The line art took about two hours, and the coloring about six.
