Redraw Of Gift! || Art process! || for Desire gibbs!

heya everyone!!

im back and with a cool new art drop for the leader desire

last year in june i gave desire a sona of his ark character from the Rog (realm of gods) server on ps4 and he loved it (he did edit the background out and added it to another photo) but loved it neither the less (i added writing to show what i drew)

its 2022 and janurary and its been awhile and that art style is quite old and its a snow day from schoooool redraw time!!! since im bored out of my mind and wanted to do some ark

step 1 revamp and ideas

this is the hardest part trying to decide what i wanted to do, i knew desire well from the server and to be honest o saw him as a person you could just talk to ans have fun adding me my friends llams and wolves he just seemed so patient with our chaos so i knew i wanted to add that element but i also knew he was an and the s had stars next to their names---- so i wanted to add a chatbox to show the chaos and------ give it stars to show him talking

i also as you could see didnt do regular armor the character was first designed in gacha club so i wanted to do a complete revamp of the outfit as well keeping the main parts i liked so with those ideas and tablet and stylist in hand i got to work

aaaaand after 50 minutes of drawing the sketch was done

step 2 cleanup

this id say is where I'd usually make that very clean lineart but lately I THREW THAT OUT THE WINDOW it takes so much time!! and sometimes it just looks stupid and flat! so going with my flow now and using my style to the fullest sketchy lineart it is! and i love doing this cause it makes it take so much less time to do! and looks amazing!

also im lazy and if you may ask how can i evem tell what im supposed to be linearting on that sketch sincw its so messy i got no awnser

step 3: flat color

this is kind of easy just take your bucket tool and splash a bunch of colors on a layer underneath your lineart layer and color in the spots that the bucket cant get to sometimes when i use this thpe of drawing style

ill be using the original sona colors from the image i have as ref to do this

step 4 Shading and lighting!

now to the part that makes the image stand out shading--- i wont be doing a airbrush shading like i did in the past and continuing to do a sketchy shade but the next thing is do i want to do lighting--- im thinking of adding just a touch of lighting from the blue floating monitera glinting on the eye and armor and giving it a blue shine overall making it more pleasing but first is the basic shading---

when your doing this you have tp decide you light source now since i have 3 lightssources the top right being the brightest where ill add sunlight and the blue monitera in the front and back are dimmer this will make it where the shading will go and where the lighting will hit as well!

step 5! final touches and background

this step is just a lookovee step making sure everything looks good and putting in the final details in the piece! nothing very ooooh about this step mostly for this piece is some background light and the words on the moniters
