This week brings a variety of new anime and manga announcements. Hikuidori is set to receive both an anime and a manga adaptation, while Neko to Ryū, Ninja vs. Gokudo, Touring After the Apocalypse, and Utahime Dream have been confirmed for anime adaptations. On the manga side, a new series titled Saikyō no Kensei to Kenja no moto ni Tenseishita Ore wa Mujikaku Musōsuru has been announced. Meanwhile, My Dress-Up Darling is coming to an end. Plenty of updates to keep an eye on!

Hikuidori gets Anime and Manga

A website opened to announce the television anime and manga adaptations of Hikuidori (Fire Eater), the first volume from Shōgo Imamura's Ushūboro Tobigumi historical novel series. The manga adaptation by Shinobu Seguchi will launch this spring, and the anime adaptation is slated for release in winter 2026. Synergy SP is in charge of animation production. The website also streamed a teaser video.

The video describes the story:

   In the Edo era

   A team of heroes saved countless lives.

   As a series of mysterious arsons engulf Edo in chaos

   The relentless firefighters race to save the city.

Neko to Ryū gets Anime

A new official website opened on "Neko no Hi" (Cat Day) to announce that Amara's Neko to Ryū (The Cat and the Dragon) novels are getting a television anime. The website streamed an announcement trailer featuring the as of yet unannounced voice of Nekoryū speaking in cat language.

The story follows a fire-breathing, human-hating dragon raised by a mother cat in a forest. The dragon, known affectionately as "Uncle Wing," watches over the many curious cats — such as one that goes on an adventure with a human prince, and another that lives in the city and people-watches as a hobby — and gradually warms up to humans along the way.

Ninja vs. Gokudo gets Anime

Kodansha announced that Shinsuke Kondō's Ninja vs. Gokudo (Ninja to Gokudō) manga is inspiring a television anime adaptation. Kondō drew the below illustration to celebrate the announement.

Kodansha describes the story:

   Since before the dawn of memory, one thing has defined human history: the war between ninjas and yakuzas. This coarse and manly manga follows two of these warring tribes who fill the gutters of modern Tokyo with blood to determine which elemental force will reign supreme!

Touring After the Apocalypse gets Anime

Aniplex revealed that it is producing a television anime adaptation of Sakae Saitō's Touring After the Apocalypse manga that will debut this year. Nexus will animate the series. An announcement video was streamed.

The series will star Konomi Inagaki as Youko and Miyu Tomita as Airi.

Yen Press describes the manga:

   All alone after the end of days, two girls ride through the desolate ruins of Japan—but they're not about to let the collapse of civilization get in the way of sightseeing! From the hot springs of Hakone to the massive Tokyo Big Sight, they've got the run of the country's most popular tourist spots all to themselves, so why not make the most of it?

Utahime Dream gets Anime

Earth Star Entertainment's Utahime Dream media mix music project announced that it will have a television anime adaptation. An announcement video was streamed.

The music project is made up of "Utahime" (Songstresses) persona who were chosen from voice actresses, stage actresses and singers, and who perform songs from the Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa eras. The project launched in June 2023.

New Manga Saikyō no Kensei to Kenja no moto ni Tenseishita Ore wa Mujikaku Musōsuru

This year's 12th issue of Shueisha's Young Jump magazine reported Summoned to Another World... Again?! author Kazuha Kishimoto and Drakengard manga artist IsII's new series Saikyō no Kensei to Kenja no moto ni Tenseishita Ore wa Mujikaku Musōsuru (I Reincarnated Under the Strongest Swordmaster and Sage and Unknowingly Became Unrivaled) will run simultaneously on the Tonari no Young Jump platform alongside its release on Nico Nico Manga. The series launched on February 18 and is updating every Tuesday.

The series follows a salaryman who is reincarnated into an alternate fantasy world as Rain, after sacrificing himself to save a child. He is saved, however, by two famous beauties who are the most feared across the land. Rain's school life begins even as he already leveling up with the cheat skills of both sword and sorcery.

My Dress-Up Darling Manga Ends

This year's fifth issue of Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine announced that Shinichi Fukuda's My Dress-Up Darling manga will end with its next chapter, which will appear in the magazine's seventh issue on March 21.

The manga launched in January 2018. The manga switched to a monthly serialization for its current "Tenmei" (Mandate of Heaven) arc on September 15, 2023.

The manga inspired a television anime that premiered in January 2022 for 12 episodes. The anime will have a sequel that will premiere in 2025. The manga also inspired a live-action series adaptation, which premiered in Japan in October 2024.
