Remaking Cornbread’s reference

Before I get to the remade reference I thought it’d be nice to take a trip down memory lane and look at were the idea of her came to be.

When I was in middle school I loved playing a game on my phone called mino monsters. I loved it! It was like Pokémon for my phone.

Her design was inspired by the mino monster Fireline.

I was also really into Steven universe at the time so at that point Cornbread was a gemsona.

And here’s the first “reference” I had of her.

Gross, I know.

After about a year or so, I started making her bright orange colors less terrible.

At this point her name was Mallory because I didn’t want her to be a gemsona anymore.

I liked the name Mallory because it meant something along the lines of “unfortunate things happening” which basically sums up her story.

The next reference cleaned up things I left out in the last one. It was my first real reference sheet.

I think I had eaten Cornbread the night before I made it so I changed her name to that and made Mallory a separate ordeal.

And here comes the reference I’ve used for a long time.

While I did like this one I wanted to make a reference sheet that was less cluttered.

Here was my first attempt at making a nice new reference sheet for her.

I didn’t like this one because I still felt like it had too much stuff in it.

I attempted a reference sheet one more time and this was the outcome:

I am quite satisfied with this one but I still don’t like how I forgot the color of her paw pads in this one.

I mean, it’s the same color as her tongue but it still would’ve been nice to have it in the sheet.

I hope everyone’s enjoyed seeing how Cornbread has grown.

I left out the point were she used to be an edgy warrior cat Oc named SwiftFire because I didn’t have any reference for that.

Also sorry for not posting in a while. I’ve got a lot of drawings done but I haven’t been able to post them because I just went on vacation and there was WiFi trouble.

Everything’s looking good now so expect more art from me.
