As the title implies... this is based off of Greek mythology. Let’s get right to it!
So there are 4 forms of love according to the Greeks. And I’ll make a post referencing this and explaining in better detail but base line so that there will be 4 looks for this species since there are 4 forms of love and they are all represented by different colors.
The one I made for now is the one representing Maternal Love. Or Family Love for lack of a better phrase. It is not explicitly stated that it’s represented by the color Orange, but it fits well with the other colors which are Red, Pink, and Yellow. Here’s the being!

They are pale in color of course. Their subspecies is referred to as “Mitrikas”. They are kind and nurturing to their families and relatives. Even the gods that created them. But not so much to strangers or anyone they aren’t directly related to. They only love their families and the mortals they follow around. They can be considered creatures of the gods and pets of Eros. They can even said to be created by Aphrodite (who is depicted as Eros’ mother in some stories) for her son on the day the holiday was celebrated. They reside on Mt. Olympus, otherwise they are on earth doing their job. Their purpose is to spread the nurturing love of family to others, whether adopted or not. And should they fail their sacred task, they’ll be sent to the Underworld to face Thanatos (the god of death) and plead for another chance to do their job correctly. Should they be sent to him 3 times, he’ll instantly reap their souls and sent them to Aphrodite to break it apart and combine it with other reaped soul shards to create a new soul and bring a replacement into the world.
They are not naturally born, but can have the chance to breed although chances to succeed are low. How can they love their families if they don’t have one? Well the majority of them are made from shatter souls and consider those whose souls have shards similar to their own their fam.
Creation (Shard 1 of 4)
Aphrodite wished to bestow upon her son, for a celebration that the mortals took part in to cherish their loved ones, a gift. But no material possessions would be good enough in her eyes. So she and her son Eros decided to work together and make a gift for one another that was the same thing. A living, breathing creature of he heavens that could embody them both and this celebration at the same time. The first creation embodied the love Aphrodite had for her beloved son, the love a mother would have for her child or family. It proudly wore the lace ribbons on its legs and chirped a sad song at having no one but its creators to love as a child. Eros gave the beast a gift of a child and another of its kind. He creature chirped happily, lonely no longer as it gently preened its child’s feathers and rocked them in its strong wings and curled her tail around them both. The affection a mother would have for her child, but Eros wished to go one step further and suggested an idea to his beautiful mother. To make a creature the embodied another form of love...
