Hi. Bare with me, I still haven’t figured out how to make a btro. But this is my piece for this Months prompt #sliceofpie
tysm for the feature 🥺
Word Count: 4,681
Characters: Bakugou Katsuki, Todoroki Shouto, Izuku Midoriya, plus background characters as staff
Bakugou was safe, he knew that. He knew what had happened was long in the past and he was never going to be that vulnerable again. He worked as a high-end chef now, he wasn’t a stupid high school jock who thought that no one could take him down.
He would never think like that again.
He knew he wasn’t in danger anymore. He knew that Izuku was put away a long time ago and that he wasn’t coming back. He knew that even if he did come back, Bakugou had taken precautions. He made himself rich so he could live in a gated community with a security guard at the gate to prohibit anyone who dared to come in without a permit. But some nights were tougher than others, some nights he still thought about Izuku and everything that had happened.
Midoriya Izuku was Bakugou’s childhood friend. They weren’t best friends, Bakugou never really liked him. But somewhere down the line, Izuku had grown an obsession with Bakugou. Bakugou had never thought it was weird that he came to every birthday party, or that Izuku always wanted to come over to his house. The guy had no other friends. Maybe that was why Izuku ended up the way he did.
“He just wanted a friend, huh?” Bakugou said aloud and frowned. He groaned and sat up, there was no way he was going back to sleep at this rate. He looked over at the clock, reading the time. 2:00 AM, it read much to Bakugou’s distaste. He didn’t like being up in the middle of the night when he had early shifts. Not that Bakuogu minded his early shifts, it was that cooking sucked when you didn’t have much sleep to go off of. This meant that Bakugou was gonna have to start counting sheep soon because he would be damned if his productivity went down because of a dumb nightmare about something that happened like ten years ago.
Exactly ten years ago from today, Bakugou tried not to remind himself. He didn’t like keeping track of the dates but it was hard not to. Ten years since Izuku was put away forever. Or what Bakugou had hoped would be forever. Bakugou hoped that by the time he did get out, that he would have gotten over his obsession with Bakugou and would finally leave him alone.
Bakugou stood up, groaning as his feet touched the cold floor. With a sigh, he stood up and went to the kitchen to get himself a drink of water. He paid a greeting to the puppy sitting on the couch, waiting for it to be morning time. Normally the puppy was as overactive and loud as Bakugou was, but not right now. Now it was time to sleep, and even Boomer, the small pomeranian he received as a gift from his friend group last year, wasn’t ready to be awake yet. Bakugou went into the kitchen, pulling a cup out of the dishwasher and filling it with water. With a frown, he drank it and leaned on the counter.
He needed to go back to sleep, but he just had to know something. He pushed off the counter and walked back into his room, picking up his laptop. Bakugou set the glass of water aside and opened the device, putting in the and immediately going to his search engine.
‘Izuku Midoriya’
About a hundred search results popped up. Most of them from years ago about the trial and the story of what had happened. A couple about Bakugou and his interview with the press and his statement to the police. Nothing about Izuku’s release, if he had even been released. He would be on parole now, but he shouldn’t be getting out for at least five more years if Bakugou had counted right. And who would want to bail that monster out of prison anyway? Even his mother was ashamed to be related to him after what he had done. Bakugou let out a relieved sigh and then shut his laptop back off.
It seemed all the worrying had worn Bakugou’s body down because he fell asleep easily after that. When Bakugou woke up again, this time it was to his alarm going off. He threw his hand out of the bed, knocking the alarm clock against the wall and shutting it up. He would have thought about going back to sleep if Boomer didn’t run into the room, barking loudly and waking him up fully this time. “Shut up, I’m awake,” He groaned out at the dog as he rolled over and got up. He walked out to the living room, rubbing the sleep from his eyes as he grabbed Boomer’s bowl and filling it with food. He then went to get dressed, putting on his uniform. After which he went back and he opened the door to let Boomer outside into the backyard.
Boomer wasn’t really an outside dog, only when Bakugou was at work because Bakugou didn’t trust the dog not to tear up everything in his house and eat all of his food while he was gone. He filled up his water bowl and set his food bowl outside and then went back inside. He bid the puppy a goodbye and then grabbed his keys to set on his way to work.
Bakugou went outside and to his garage, deciding to take his motorcycle today. It was finally getting warmer and Bakugou had missed the wind blowing through his hair. He grabbed his sunglasses and slipped them onto his face, opening the garage door and pulling the bike out. Bakugou closed the door, just to ensure that no one had easy access to his home, and then started up his motorcycle. Swinging his leg over the bike, he took off to his restaurant.
It wasn’t some huge and famous place that people went every day to each extravagantly in their best suits. It wasn’t small and unknown either, it was still a very popular place to go. Bakugou just had specialized in making carry out orders, having drivers going all over the city, and delivering lunches and dinners and desserts to companies filled with people willing to pay a lot for Bakugou’s cooking and baking.
From the moment he got to the restaurant and saw all the cars parked out front for breakfast despite the fact that they didn’t open for another hour told Bakugou they were going to be very busy today. Which is good, it would get his mind off of Izuku and the stupid tenth anniversary of Izuku Midoriya being thrown in prison for half of his life. Bakugou drove around to the back where the faculty parking lot was, and then parked his bike and chained it down to a hoop in the ground that Bakugou had installed just for this purpose.
He got off his bike and went into the back of the restaurant and into the kitchen, pleased to see most of his morning shifters were there already. Before anyone could say any greetings, Bakugou set straight to commands. “Racoon eyes, get to the ovens and stoves, heat them up if they aren’t already, we have a lot of customers out there. Shitty Hair, pin that back for god’s sake, and start prepping bacon, sausage, and eggs. Those are the most popular breakfast items. Mochi, I hope you had half a mind to get some bread in the oven.”
“Almost done baking, sir!” Ochaco said with a bright smile. Bakugou grunted and nodded.
“Expect today to be a busy day. We got multiple calls yesterday to prepare lunches for corporate companies, and you know those bastards usually call too late. So expect more calls today. There’s a banquet tonight, so I’ll be working in the baking area for today. Racoon eyes, when you’re done with preheating the ovens, I want you in the front today and taking orders. Dunce face will be in later to help you in the lobby. Mochi, your partner will be in later as well, you’ll be driving today. Shitty Hair, think you can handle being alone with me until bird face, and octobitch get in?”
“You got it Bakubro!”
“Alright, then that concludes this morning’s staff meeting. We’ve got multiple breakfast orders that were called in last night, so everyone get to work.” He clapped his hands and everyone dispersed to doing what they were assigned to do. The team immediately set to making breakfast burritos, muffins, toast, doughnuts, and much more. Kirishima went and brewed some coffee and got the juices out as well. When they opened the doors to the public, they were bombarded with order after order, the phone ringing almost nonstop, and Bakugou found himself in his baking station earlier than he had intended.
As soon as Asui clocked in, she and Ochaco were out on the road to deliver orders. Tokoyami and Shoji quickly made their way in alongside Kaminari, taking over the breakfast station and allowing Kirishima to come over and help him. Bakugou started on the dozens of desserts this company ordered for their banquet, a feat that would probably take all day if he was doing it alone. Which wasn’t an issue for Bakugou, as Kirishima started baking sweets to put on the racks in the lobby. After a few hours, Bakugou had to thank the heavens that Satou came in to help Kirishima out.
Bakugou was more than content like this for the day. Occasionally he checked in with his chefs, making sure that they were alright and didn’t need a break. Cooking for a living was quite a hard feat for some people, and he knew that sometimes even he needed some time off of his feet. He gave breaks when they were needed, allowing everyone to get breakfast and lunch when that time came around. Every time Ochaco and Asui came back, they came back with generous tips from very rich men. That was the best part about sending the both of them, they were pretty ladies. And greedy businessmen loved pretty ladies bringing them food. The both of them knew it, and Bakugou knew it.
He became rich by being smart and knowing what he was doing. His employees got a generous bonus every season because Bakugou played them all to their strengths. Bakugou set some cookies in the oven to bake and turned around to see Mina looking at him, a little confused. “What is it, Racoon eyes?”
“Uh, there’s a guy who ordered a key lime pie.” He said and Bakugou nodded. “Alright, tell those two over there, I’m busy.”
“No, Bakubro, he demanded that you make it personally. He said he would know the difference if you didn’t and he wouldn’t be happy.”
“The fuck do I care about some guys happiness?” Bakugou said and sighed. “Whatever, tell him to wait out there, ill have Satou take the pie out when it’s done.” He said and looked at Kirishima. “Yo, make sure that these cookies don’t get overcooked. I’ve got a pie to make,” He said and Kirishima gave him a thumbs up.
Bakugou waved Mina off and cleaned off his station. He got out everything he needed, narrowing his eyes. “Graham crackers, butter, sugar, eggs, limes, condensed milk, I got everything?”
“Sounds like it,” Satou said and Bakugou nodded. He shrugged and set to it, making the crust and putting it in the oven. While it was baking, Bakugou set to making the filling. He squeezed the limes and then grated the zest. He mixed everything together, pouring it into the crust after it had been pulled out the oven and cooled. Bakugou put the pie back in the oven, only for a few minutes to let the eggs cook before pulling it out and putting it in the freezer to chill off. He then set to making the topping, making a meringue to spread over the top of the cooled pie. He used his spatula to make waves in the meringue and then torched them, giving the top layer a nice golden color. Bakugou then packaged it and gave it to Satou to take it out.
When he came back, he looked a little confused as well. “Not you too, what the fuck is wrong?”
“Ah, nothing. That guy just gives me the creeps.” He said and shook his hand. “Business is business, regardless of how creepy they may be.” He said and Bakugou grunted and nodded.
“Whatever let’s just get these done. Oi! Bird face!” He said and Tokoyami looked at him. “How is the food for the banquet coming?” Bakugou asked.
“Its almost done, sir.” He said and Bakugou nodded.
“Good thing. The next time those two come back around, they’re taking the food.” He said and Tokoyami nodded and went back to his food. Bakugou finished packaging the cookies that Kirishima had started and let him go back to working on cake decorating. Some little girl was turning five today and Kirishima just wanted the cake to be perfect, Bakugou could tell by all the small details. Bakugou set all the desserts on the table and then watched Shoji bring the food over. Bakugou gave him a nod as a motion of good luck. It was nearing the evening rush and Bakugou was switching over to cooking so Tokoyami could go home. He said he had something to do concerning shadows or something, Bakugou didn’t really care. He just let Tokoyami go home early. Bakugou also reckoned that it was about time for his morning shifters to be going home anyways.
Bakugou took Tokoyami’s place when he clocked out and started on the lobby orders, as Shoji was doing to-go orders today. It didn’t take long for Kaminari to come back to the kitchen and to Bakugou with a smirk. “What’s that look for, Dunce Face?”
“Isn’t it about time the boss takes a break?” He asked and Bakugou sighed and looked at the ticket.
“Damn right,” He said and smirked just as Shinsou walked in for his evening shift/closing shift. “Hey, eye bags! One order of cold soba and extra spicy katsudon!” Bakugou said as he pulled his apron off. “Also Dunce Face, go tell Racoon eyes shes off shift now, and you’re taking over the front with eye bags when I get back.” He said and Denki nodded. Bakugou went and walked out the side of the kitchen and straight into Todoroki’s arms, staying there for a second before he pushed him away. “Alright alright, let’s get a table.” He said.
“I already got one for us. I knew you wouldn’t want to waste time, I also got us our drinks already.” Todoroki said and Bakugou hummed.
“Alright, you’re getting better at this.” He nodded and then let Todoroki lead him to their table. Once a week, Todoroki would show up at Bakugou’s restaurant and buy him dinner. Since Bakugou was a workaholic and hardly had time for the up and coming businessman he met in college, Todoroki just adapted. Though he could convince Bakugou to take some days off for the sake of their relationship, birthdays, anniversaries, other days.
The two of them had been dating for two years now. They had a little fling while in college but quickly broke it off because the two of them just had schedules that made them way too busy to be together. It truly was mutual, but they had never cut ties. A few years back, Todoroki had heard of this amazing restaurant that served almost every company in this city, and Todoroki just had to try it. That was where he found Bakugou again. After nearly ten months of talking and getting to know each other all over again, the two of them finally agreed to date again, as the feelings were still there. And it had been steady ever since. “So,” Todoroki said. “How have you been today? With the anniversary?”
One thing that Bakugou loved about him was that he ed things, like the anniversary of Izuku. “It’s been alright. I woke up last night, like every year, and I checked to see if he was out and he isn’t. It also helps that we have been really busy today, so I haven’t had much time to think about it.”
“Would you want me to come home with you today?” Todoroki asked as they got their food. Bakugou let out a sigh and shook his head.
“No thank you, but if you want to go and check on Boomer, I would be very appreciative. I didn’t expect it but I think it’s gonna be a late night.” He said and Todoroki nodded.
“Of course, Kat. I’d be happy to stay for a little while and play with him too.” Todoroki said and Bakugou could tell that he was going to find his way into Bakugou’s bed by the end of the night anyway, so he may as well just let him. Besides, a cuddle buddy never hurt anyone, so he just sighed and nodded.
“Fine, you can stay over tonight,” Bakugou said and Todoroki smiled.
“I’m glad you agree that it would be a good idea. Ya know, just in case.” Todoroki said and took a bite of his cold soba. Bakugou just playfully rolled his eyes and started to eat his food as well. The two of them ate in peaceful silence, drinking the sodas that Todoroki ordered. When he was finished, Bakugou stood up to go back to work. He opened his mouth to bid his farewells but Todoroki grabbed his hand. “Wait, there’s something else,” He said as Shinsou came out the kitchen with a slice of apple cinnamon pie and vanilla ice cream on top. “It’s your favorite isn’t it?”
“I do love apple pie, but how did you know I was in the mood for it?” Bakugou asked as he sat down and picked up a spoon.
“I didn’t. I saw the line I was waiting in and decided that you probably would want a little extra time on your break. And if you didn’t eat it, I would.” Todoroki chuckled and Bakugou huffed and dug into the slice of pie. The two of them shared the dessert, Todoroki mostly eating the ice cream and letting his boyfriend eat the pie. When they were finished, Bakugou hummed and stood again.
“Alright, back to the kitchen for me.” He said and Todoroki stood as well.
“Mhm, wheres my thank you?” Todoroki asked and Bakugou raised an eyebrow but smirked anyways. He leaned forward and gave Todoroki a short kiss and turned away.
“Thanks for the meal!” He said and walked back in the kitchen to leave Todoroki chuckling. Bakugou took his place back at the helm of the stoves and sent Shinsou to the lobby with Denki. The rest of the night was mildly quiet. A few orders here and there, nothing too hard to do. Bakugou let Shoji, Denki, Kirishima, and Satou go home, leaving him and Shinsou.
The two of them worked well enough together, they didn’t bother each other much. Shinsou also didn’t try to be sneaky and get on his phone during the boring hours and Bakugou did appreciate that. Bakugou and Shinsou worked together to clean up, Bakugou cleaning the kitchen and prepping for tomorrow, and Shinsou cleaning up the lobby and doing the dishes. Bakugou found himself on his bike by midnight and ready to go home.
He almost sped home, ready to finally just lay down with Boomer and Shouto. He had no idea what would be waiting for him when he got back into his gated community and pulled into the garage. There were no signs that anyone broke in, so Bakugou didn’t expect anything to be out of the ordinary when he went inside. But as soon as he got into the house, a shiver went down his spine. Boomer wasn’t barking as he usually was, and sure he could be sleeping but Boomer always woke up when Bakugou got home, no matter how late it was. And Shouto always came to greet him when he stayed over.
Shouto’s car was in the garage, so he was obviously here. Bakugou set his keys down and ventured further into the house. “Shouto? Where are you?” He asked as he went into the dining room, stopping dead in his tracks as his eyes widened.
“I don’t think that Shouto is going to answering you anytime soon, Kacchan. But you can always talk to me!” Izuku grinned, making Bakugou back away a few steps.
“You’re supposed to be in prison,” Bakugou said, gradually backing up to get a knife. He was gonna gut this son of a bitch if he got too close, Bakugou swore to it.
“Oh,” Izuku crossed one leg over the other. “They let me out early on good behavior. So I called my mom up and she came and got me. She was really happy to see me, ya know. She said she missed me so much. And you, she had so much to say about you. I think she thought that somehow I had decided not to be your friend anymore even after you got me thrown in prison. She had no idea I was going to come looking for you.” He said and then reached over and grabbed something.
Bakugou looked over to see the very same key lime pie he had made earlier. He stiffened up, looking over further to see Shouto tied to a chair and ed out. He almost looked dead. “What did you do to him? And Boomer?”
“You mean that annoying dog of yours? It wouldn’t stop barking and trying to bite me, so I threw it out. Also, don’t think about going and looking for a knife like you did last time. I still have the scar,” Izuku pouted and raised his shirt up to show the stab wound Bakugou had given him back in high school. “I took all the knives and I used your darling Shouto as target practice. Sad none of them really hit him, so I tried again in your dog. He isn’t barking anymore but I also couldn’t see where the knives were going because it’s dark outside, so Boomer might be dead, might not?”
“You used my boyfriend and my dog for target practice?” Bakugou growled. “I don’t need a knife to kill you,” Bakugou said before he decided to just go for it. He pounced at Izuku, tackling him and the chair to the ground. He immediately set to punching him, but one thing did ring through his mind. All this time that Izuku was gone, Bakugou could tell he had been shaping up. He could feel the muscles underneath Izuku’s shirt. Bakugou could tell that Izuku stood a fair chance at pushing him off. But he didn’t, Izuku didn’t push him off. He just laid there, grinning and taking it.
Or so he thought until he felt a sharp pain in his lower back. Bakugou’s eyes widened as a warm feeling rushed through his body, and he went stiff. Izuku pulled the knife out of him and threw it aside, flipping them over. Izuku had the right idea in mind when he pinned Bakugou’s hands above him so he couldn’t try anything. He then leaned down and giggled a bit. “It doesn’t feel good, does it, Kacchan?” He asked and leaned back up.
“Ya know, all I ever wanted was for you to finally it that we were friends. Because we both know, I am the only one who went to your birthday parties and sleepovers. I am the only one who listened to you when no one else would, and I am the only one who stood up for you knowing that I could never beat anyone else up. I knew all of that, and you knew all of that, and yet you pushed me to be like this. You made me who I am.” Izuku said and grabbed the knife again. “Now, we’re gonna have a nice conversation over the delicious pie you made for us, or I’m gonna kill him,” He pointed the knife at Shouto. “Do you understand?”
“Yes.” Bakugou grit his teeth, feeling the blood pouring out of the wound. It was pretty deep, Bakugou could see his blood dripping to the hilt of the knife. He doubted he was gonna make it past the night if he didn’t call someone.
“Good,” Izuku said and then hoisted Bakugou up and sat him in a chair. “Oh yeah! I also you calling the police the second I left you alone last time too! Hand it over,” Izuku held his hand out.
“Hand what over?” Bakugou scowled.
“Oh Kacchan, I know you’re not stupid so don’t act the part now. Your phone, hand it over. Before I grow impatient.” Izuku said through gritted teeth and Bakugou strained to pull his phone out of his back pocket. Izuku took it and then set it on the table and stabbed the knife through it. He then sat down and smiled, wiping a bit of blood off the corner of his mouth from when Bakugou was punching him still. “Now then, eat some pie. I know you probably don’t want to talk, you never do. So I’ll tell you about my life since you ruined it.” Izuku said and went on and on about prison life and how much he missed Bakugou and his cooking.
Bakugou felt himself growing ever more tired every minute, eyes fluttering shut for longer and longer as he tried to stay away. He couldn’t feel the pain much, he ed that blood was still trickling out but he couldn’t move enough now to make an attempt to stop it. Izuku didn’t seem to notice as he droned on and on, and Bakugou eventually laid his head down on the table and shut his eyes for good.
Of course he hoped he woke up, it was his last thought. But he knew the chances were unlikely, so he made his peace. He said a quick apology in his head to Shouto and to Boomer, and then let go.
“Kacchan? Kacchan! Katsuki!”
“Katsuki! Hey…” Shouto said when Bakugou woke up, immediately sitting up and panting and in a cold sweat. He immediately grabbed at his side, his fingers pushing to the small of his back as his eyes stayed wide. “Kat, are you okay?”
“Izuku. Where-”
“Hey…” Todoroki sat up and wrapped his arms around him. “It’s just a nightmare. He’s gone, for good this time.” Todoroki said and rubbed over Katsuki’s wound. It was fully healed now and Katsuki had survived, but it was pretty hit and miss there for awhile. Bakugou getting better and declining in the hospital until finally he was released home upon getting steadily better.
Bakugou looked down when he heard barking, looking at Boomer and putting a hand to his chest. That’s right, everything was okay now. Izuku was back in prison for the rest of his life, he would never bother Bakugou again. Bakugou and Boomer had made full recoveries, Shouto had moved in to keep Katsuki safe during his nightmares, and everything was going to continue to be alright.
“Let’s get you some water and then go back to sleep, hm?”
“Yeah, yeah that sounds good, thank you.” Bakugou nodded and watched Shouto walk out of the room. He returned a few moments later and gave Bakugou a glass of water. Bakugou took a big drink and set it down, taking deep breaths.
“Feel better?” Todoroki asked and Bakugou laid down again and nodded. Todoroki laid down with him and wrapped his arms around him, kissing his forehead and helping Katsuki back to sleep.
Yes, everything was better. Bakugou was positive he was safe. His last thought as he fell asleep was of the apple pie he was going to make for Shouto and his anniversary in the morning.
Alright, thanks all I’ve got for you. I hope you enjoyed it!

I hung onto every word of this story. Your writing is so talented, I love how it flows!
Dhuahrud you're so talented! Congrats on the feature!
I am a little confused, though. At the end, , was that wound an actual wound and the whole scene happened or was it just a nightmare?
Both. The scene did actually happen, and months later Bakugou had a nightmare about the scene
agdkshlalshdkaka this was the coolest thing I've ever read in my life!! :sparkling_heart: :sparkling_heart: :sparkling_heart: :sparkling_heart: :sparkling_heart: :sparkling_heart: :sparkling_heart: :sparkling_heart: :sparkling_heart: :sparkling_heart:
