Skin

Emily has very pale skin, almost completely white. If it weren’t for the pink tints to her cheeks, around her eyes and at her ts, she’d look dead. She has a very clear complexion that is almost doll like.

Eyes

Emily has pale blue eyes that are of a rounded shape, she has very long and thick eyelashes which further accentuate their colour. She tends to look almost sad or sickly due to the pink tinges to the skin around her eyes. However, her eyes stick out and are extremely bizarre. The colour is quite dull, the pupil itself being more of a muted shade of blue, and each eye has a visible, deep brown line going across the middle of the entire eye. This holds a striking resemblance to Tache Noir, seen in corpses. They also struggle to show much emotion and hardly blink.

Hair

Emily has long, light brown/dark blonde hair that reaches past her rear, to her mid thighs in loose curls. Her hair is often worn down, but she isn’t afraid to experiment with different hairstyles. She also had blunt bangs and some shorter parts of hair framing her face.

Body

Emily’s body is of a thin hour glass shape and has long legs for her figure. She is quite fit due to her dancing and thus, has lean muscle on her body. She stands of an average height for her age.

Outfit

During the first 3 Chapters Emily wears a lolita coord consisting of a red tartan lolita dress, with a white blouse, white over the knee socks and black rocking horse shoes. Her hair is tied into a half up half down style with two black bows.

In The Trial, she is seen wearing a different lolita coord with a red lolita dress and hair worn in loose curls with a matching headdress, she wears white over the knee socks and red rocking horse shoes.

Whenever she is outside she is seen with a frilly, white parasol.

Her Angel Form later on appears quite different, she wears a delicate white dress with gold sandals, and a headdress reminiscent of a halo, as well as a white veil, which is first seen covering her face before it is moved back, she has large feathered wings appearing from her back and her eyes appear completely blank with a soft, yellow glow and her lashes appear more dramatic, there appear to be tear marks of sorts running down her face and her hair remains down in soft curls. Her heart is also seen glowing bright red through her chest and can be heard beating wherever she is.

Personality

Emily is a very polite girl who is rather quiet and withdrawn, typically avoiding crowded situations. Before meeting Sal, Larry, Todd and Ash, she spent nearly every day on her own. It didn’t help when considering that she moved over from another country. She has a very ladylike attitude- purely out of old habit- but isn’t afraid to shed that around her friends and be who she wants to be, without old family expectations. She can be a little bit cheeky when needed and is overall a good shoulder to cry on or ear to listen to. She shows a strong desire to help and heal people and is very determined in her goals and will often pursue them to points of risking her own health, sometimes, if she cares enough about this particular subject or task, she may grow a sort of obsession over it until it’s done. Emily gets fairly anxious easily and gets overwhelmed when caught in large crowds, thankfully, there’s often ways that she’s able to manage herself. During the time of her music career, she’s able to hold a powerful and regal stage presence, though, it drastically differs to the shy, quiet girl she normally is off stage. A few things that have always proven difficult for Emily were more emotional and mental issues that stuck with her personality. Instead of letting her emotions out when healthy, she tends to bottle them up and sometimes take other people’s issues on board, which effects her negatively overtime and ends in rather ugly ways.

Backstory

Emily was born in Europe to Vincent and Martha Gracey. The family lived a good, luxurious life. Living in the old family mansion that had been owned for centuries, alongside the fact her mother who was a doctor and her father who owned a chain of funeral homes as well as being a mortician. It was quite an ironic twist that a doctor who worked to preserve life and the owner of funeral homes full of dead people fell in love. Emily had always particularly had a closer bond to her mother rather than her father growing up, as Vincent always remained relatively secret and extremely private, things often being kept hidden.

This was because he held a rather ugly secret, being part of a hidden cult that held a world wide influence: The Devourers of God. With the aim to bring a particular demon into their world. Knowing his dearest wife could never accept such a thing, he kept it all secret from her.

Her childhood was fairly simple, though, riddled with hospital visits. At a young age she required a heart surgery, it was successful aside from rather intense swelling, causing her to live with an enlarged heart. However, she was a strong child and went through it well. She began dancing at 3 years old, taking ballet lessons ever since then, as well as being taught piano and vocals.

One thing that always ran through Emily’s family was the use of Magick, this was common through Emily’s mother’s side of the family and even revealed itself in Emily. Who began to practise witchcraft alongside her beloved family, particularly favouring White Magick for the way it was able to heal people in various ways. However, this was often kept secret from her father, her mother never quite addressing this to Emily and more or less stating that he ‘didn’t believe in it’ or ‘didn’t wish to talk about it’. Emily, out of respect for her mother, complied.

At the age of 13, Emily’s life seemed to come crashing down as Martha began to suffer from a severe, terminal illness. Only lasting upwards of 5 months before she eventually ed away. Spending that year watching her mother suffer and slowly was extremely damaging to Emily, who never quite knew how to manage her grief. However, Vincent seemed to suffer even more intensely from this. Something that manifested itself in ugly ways, and particularly, his treatment of his daughter. Expectations grew high and his cold heart grew to be like stone, though he always seemed to dislike one thing.

She looked so much like Martha, except for one thing, her eyes.

Her eyes were brown, Martha’s were blue.

This was when he gained an idea. Vincent couldn’t stand looking into the eyes of an ‘imposter’, he couldn’t bare looking at his daughter and knowing the other half of her creation wasn’t there. He grew aggressive, obsessed with his deceased wife and only struggling from his daughter’s resemblance. That’s when he got an idea: if he couldn’t bring Martha back, he would make another. With access to various tools, enough money to make his own, and incredible experience in both the medical and mortuary world. Vincent got to work, he removed Martha’s fresh corpse from the mausoleum, performing a procedure to remove his wife’s beautiful eyes, simply covering the missing space with delicate lace ribbons. The eyes were perfectly restored and preserved;. However, there was something missing: They weren’t functional. With that, Vincent began a ritual, calling upon the Red Eyed Demon himself to provide it’s divine power to these eyes. Going so far as to sacrifice the bodies in his nearest morgue to satisfy the being, who fulfilled the gift of enhanced sight to the eyes. Once the eyes were ready, the plan was put into place.

When Emily came home from school the next day, she was immediately sedated, unknowing of what happened. Until she was awoken to learn her situation. Her eyes had been removed and replaced, currently hidden by bandages during recovery. This messed with Emily more than anything. She tolerated her father’s treatment- dismissing it as grief, she tolerated being bullied and she tolerated witnessing the slow death of her beloved mother. But this was something else. She had her mother’s eyes, and she could see things that others could not. Eyes in the walls, the dead roaming their haunts, sights that often made sleep a horrific feat.

It was the next year that Vincent- upon the knowledge that the cult required his services in America- decided to move for a ‘fresh start’, to which Emily reluctantly followed. 14 years old, and having to move schools entirely. Emily struggled for quite some time, with her mother’s death still fresh in her mind, the horrific changes to her life, and her own medical issues affecting her. it wasn’t until she was 15 that she actually began making friends, particularly with a group of four people known as Sal Fisher, Larry Johnson, Ashley Campbell and Todd Morrison.

Throughout highschool, Emily mainly remained quiet and under the radar, simply aiming to study to follow in her mother’s footsteps as a doctor or pursue a singing career, and spending time with her treasured friends. Unfortunately, being exposed to the cult hiding beneath Nockfell and the knowledge that her own father was one of them. She was able to use her abilities to see ghosts to her and her friends’ advantages, as well as being able to track down the location of the cult upon sneaking around her father’s study. Something that proved helpful for the group time and time again.

In her Junior year of College, she befriended three other girls who were all extremely different, yet very similar to one another.. The four girls decided to form a Classic Rock/Alternative band together called Rosalia, where they wouldn’t shy away from Experimenting with music. Unfortunately though, the entrance of more witches didn’t seem to go well with the Phelps’, and tensions rose.

In college, Emily studied to become a doctor, but soon had to drop her degree as Rosalia grew in popularity. The four girls often finding themselves on tours, releasing albums and being invited to big events. However, these would be the last years before Emily’s death.

A month after the death of Larry Johnson, Emily was found dead in her apartment, her dear friend and drummer Elizabeth unfortunately finding her corpse. The investigation went on for some time, with debates on whether her death was caused by complications for her heart issues, suicide, a seizure of sorts or potentially murder. Rosalia performed a tribute concert as a send off for Emily, calling in various other singers and musicians they met over time to in. While they still continue the band, they also have their own jobs that they now take on. Dinah as a Scientist, Clara as a Psychologist and Elizabeth as an Entrepreneur.

Unlike most ghosts, Emily’s soul wasn’t tied down to her apartment. Instead, she found herself lost in the void. Much like her friends Sal and Larry would some years later. This could have potentially been because of her history with witchcraft, not unlike Rosenberg. She found herself being put through multiple challenges and multiple lives in different universes, while they felt like she lived through various, long lifetimes with the same or a similar consciousness, the time she spent within them was very short and the challenges throughout these lifetimes would leave permanent scars. All of these being set out for her to prove herself for something greater.

These challenges were hard and put many strains on Emily. She often found herself wanting to back out from these lives and fall into nothingness like most other ghosts in the void did. But something kept pushing her. This worked in her favour, as she was soon rewarded with the status of becoming an Angel.

With this status, she became a guardian over her remaining, surviving friends Ashley and Neil. Even sending little signs showing that she was around and trying to help them. When it came to the fateful day that Ashley planned to take down the cult, Emily was able to come down temporarily to aid her friend, in a similar fashion to her other friends, Sal and Larry. She leant some of her power to Ashley and the group seemed to temporarily reunite and take down the Devourers of God.

Unfortunately, after that Emily had to go back and resume her afterlife as a Guardian to those who needed her. However, it wasn’t rare for her to continue leaving telltale signs that she was around.

Extra

- Lives in Addison Apartments.

- She is a Pagan who practises Witchcraft, specially white magick.

- Suffers from PTSD and Depression, which she often takes medication for.

- Lives with an Enlarged Heart and Endometriosis, in later years she’s revealed to be recovering from an Eating Disorder. Because of these issues she’s in and out of hospital or stuck in her bed on some days.

- Often loves overly feminine clothing. Her signature being a frilly dress, she also wears Rocking Horse Shoes a lot. A main style she likes to wear is ‘Oldschool’ (modern at the time) Lolita Fashion, or anything pastel and feminine.

- Has a few scars at her abdomen and chest from various surgeries, she has an enlarged heart from the procedures done on it.

- Has been a dancer for years, having done ballet since the age of 3.

- She has a 4 octave range and is able to reach operatic notes.

- Has risked her health multiple times for small things that she gets determined to do or finish, it’s become a sort of habit.

- She was part of a band since her first year of college. She was the leading vocalist in the group, there was four of them and they became incredibly successful. The group consisted of herself and three of her friends who moved over from England, these were: Elizabeth Tailor, Clara O’Connell and Dinah Gray. Their band was an Alternative/Classic Rock band known as ‘Rosalia’.

- When she’s nervous or overwhelmed, she will speak in German, the only times she’s ever cussed have all been in German.

- Has some good medical knowledge from her father’s job.

- She has some anxious habits. These being- clutching at or playing with her hair, picking at the skin around her nails, shaking her arm and fiddling with her fingers.

- Hates people knowing about her wealth.

- She has a slight protrusion in her ribs and chest from her enlarged heart. If looking closely or putting your hand over it, you can see or feel her heart beating, it can also be heard due to a heart murmur.

- Due to her eyes being the preserved eyes of a corpse, they don’t need to produce their own moisture- only doing so when she cries. Other times, they do not, and thus she never needs to blink. However, to avoid appearing stranger than she does, she will try to consciously blink. This never appears right as she often does it too much or too little.

- The strange look of her clothes and eyes caused her to become quite the outcast at school.

- Her enhanced sight allows her to see and communicate with ghosts, see things from far distances, see under water, look through walls on command, look through other physical objects or beings on command, ‘zoom in and out’ of things and even see in the dark. In darkness they also seem to glow.

- Nobody knows why she died, she died mysteriously just after Larry’s death, some believe she was murdered, some believe it stemmed from her heart condition, some believe it was a seizure and some believe it was suicide.

- Rosenberg cared deeply for Emily and tries to tutor her in her practise.

- Often suffers nightmares brought on by the past and things she had seen.
