Story

Brahm Maldford is owner of a number of ventures and businesses in London, along with providing necessary services to other citizens of Mousedom. His wife left him, leaving him alone to raise his cooperation and daughter, Victoria Maldford.

As a child Victoria was known as a tomboyish girl who loved adventuring with her trusting friend, Basil of Baker street. The two were inseparable and had the dream of becoming the greatest detective duo in the world. However Victoria’s father was so caught up with his business that he hardly had time to raise his daughter himself so came to a decision of sending her off to a convert in Scotland, where children are raised and nurtured in a strict environment to become a proper lady. The night that the train was ready to depart from the station the young children had said their farewells “So long Vicky, I shall miss you” Young Basil embraced the small mouse into a hug with a small sob. “Goodbye Basil, I know one day you will be a great detective, and I hope I return in time to see it happen”. After one final hug she gave him a violin as a goodbye gift then was on her way, aboard the train and off to Scotland. As the train began to move Basil ran after to see Victoria waving out the window and the two exchanged a small smile.

In the year of 1897, Basil got a lead to his greatest case in his career after London's master toymaker was kidnapped and placed in the hands of the evil Professor Ratigan. As faith would have it, this was also the time Victoria returned for the announcing of the queen's Diamond Jubilee. Unfortunately when Victoria got home her father had gone missing. The caretakers of her home claimed he was last seen talking to a giant ‘mouse’ a few days ago in his work study. Victoria became suspicious about the whole thing. Why would her father just disappear, and especially on the day she came home? Was this giant mouse one of his co-workers? Sure he was always busy with his job but he would never not welcome his daughter home after so many years. Victoria looks through her father’s office, analyzing and inspecting through his paperwork. After a while of searching Victoria had found nothing out of the ordinary except for a few overdue bills. She took a seat in Brahm’s chair with the bills in hand. Victoria realized the years she’s been gone her father’s business began struggling financially. Sulking in the seat , Victoria was filled with unhappiness, feeling bad for her father. She stared at the empty study room with only the moonlight shining through the window, she glanced down and her face lightened up after her attention caught the headline of a newspaper article. She reached down for it and began reading “Famous Detective solves baffling disappearance”. Tilting her head with curiosity Victoria continued reading to find this famous detective was known as “Basil” She muttered. Without hesitation Victoria grabbed her coat then made her way to Baker street.

After the toy shop incident Basil and Dawson made their way back to Baker street to examine the list of tools that had been dropped by Fidget. “ Damn that Fiend, the girl is gone, confound it! Now she’s been spirited away by that maniacal monster, soon to be in the clutches of the most depraved mind and all of london! But now we have a lead my friend!” The two stopped by the door as Basil reached into the pocket of his coat aggressively looking for his keys. Once he found them he turned with his back facing Dawson, who noticed a young mouse walking from behind the detective. However seeing how he was trying to unlock the door he didn't notice her till she said “Hello Basil”. The detective paused then slowly turned his head over his shoulder to face her. At first he seemed confused. With a small smile the female mouse reached up to pull her hoodie off her head revealing herself as the heir of the Maldford estate. Basil managed to unlock the door but before he swung it open he stood straight up to face his old friend. “Vicky?” he whispered in disbelief. Victoria let out a chuckled “ Been a while hasn’t it”. For a moment the two stayed quiet as Dawson looked back and forth at them, then saw how they ran into each other's arms embracing in a hug. Not long after Basil rushed inside with Dawson and Victoria, apologizing to her for he didn't have the time to talk because of his case. “That’s why i came to you” She explained “My father is missing and i believe his disappearance is related to the toymaker and the girl's kidnapping. From what I had heard, He was last seen with a giant mouse”. Towards the end of Victoria’s sentence, Basil paused from his experiment to look over at her. He then revealed this one known as the giant mouse to be Professor Ratigan. Victoria was left surprised and hoped Basil will allow her to him on the case. At first he refused but after talking it out with Vicky he was convinced and allowed it.

When they were caught by Ratigan, Victoria found where her father was along with the truth. Brahm was never missing , instead of being kidnapped by Ratigan he worked with him willingly, helping him with his plan of getting rid of the queen and helping Ratigan become supreme of Mousedome. “Why would you do this?” Victoria asked her father with a look of betrayal. Brahm walked up and cupped his daughter's cheeks in his hands gently “I'm doing this for us. To get us out of the poor house” Victoria stayed silent then harshly pushed him away “All of this, for money!?”. Brahm watched her outburst. “It's not just the money. Ratigan promised that if i help him become supreme then he will keep us from a life of poverty. I will no longer need to spend so much time on my cooperation but instead spend more time with you”. Victoria refused to believe anything he had said. It was wrong. It was all wrong.

Close to the end of the film [after Ratigan became supreme] Brahm felt betrayed by Ratigan when he saw he was trying to hurt his daughter. He tried stopping the rat who stated he was only using Brahm to get into the palace of the queen then used his sharp nails to claw the mouse leaving him injured. As chaos erupted in the palace Basil and Victoria rushed and knelt down next to the wounded mouse. Brahm apologized to his daughter then told her and basil to go save Olivia together.

With the defeat of Ratigan, Olivia was now reunited with her father, Dawson became Basil's partner and Brahm unfortunately closed his cooperation but now lives a honest good middle- class life. As for Victoria, it did take time till Basil finally had the courage to ask her to be his partner not just as a detective but as a partner in his life.
