Your Favourite Eye Ability?

:star2: Wassup Guys, Arza here once again and I'm back with another post. Not to be the bearer of my own laurels but this post is gonna be one that many of you will hopefully love to read and comment on as you decide on your personal favourites out of the plethora of varying and unique abilities out there in the anime realm. The question today is simply this;

"What Is Your Favourite Eye Ability?"

:star2: Let’s start by talking about what eye abilities are first and foremost. When talking about anime abilities or supernatural abilities in general, it is often prudent to outline what makes them so special. In that respect, eye abilities are a breed of powers that are usually very desirable and extremely useful when we think about their applications in battle type scenarios and/or otherwise. Eye powers can be a critical game changer when it comes to a story and, more often than not, only the most prominent of a cast of characters will bear them. Eye abilities can cause characters to become all powerful entities and today we’re going to talk about a bunch of such characters!

An ideal eye power is one that allows the to perform epic feats of ruthless aggression and/or the boundless manipulation of any enemy, according to the wielder's whimsy. Eye powers are usually crafted to toy with the enemy's mind but they can also be more versatile , allowing the to , in some cases, manifest elements such as fire and gravity out of pure nothingness. Whatever the case may be, eye powers are simply awesome and are revered as some of the best anime abilities out there! And so, I'd like to shed light on some of my personal favourite eye abilities in perspective. Please keep in mind that I haven't seen every single anime out there and that's why I have made this post into a question instead of a poll. This is so that if I miss any eye abilities you guys can add em in the comments. Here we go!!

:sparkles: Sharingan :sparkles:

-Uchiha Clan (Naruto)

:star2: So I thought it would be nice to start it off with the most popular eye ability from the past two decades, the all encoming mighty Sharingan of the Uchiha clan! What makes this power so epic can't be narrowed down to just a few traits including things like it’s versatility as an ability, the level of strength it provides,  it’s usefulness in battle and ofcourse its design. The cool thing about the Sharingan is that the type of power it provides is completely different for each , leading to a whole new world of possibility. Another thing that makes the Sharingan so desirable is that it can be upgraded to many new higher levels of power that can be achieved through strenuous training or events marked by grief that spark change such as the awakening of the Mangekyo Sharingan.

The Sharingan also has a completely different design depending on the individual which is pretty cool. But what's more important is the fact that beyond it’s design, the Sharingan boasts a vast array of battle friendly uses. For instance , the Sharingan can be used to subdue the enemy through Genjutsu which is the threatening attack of the enemy on the mind. Itachi Uchiha is the most prominent of this kind of battle tactic and casts a gigantic net of fear over the enemy's eyes, practically blinding them from looking directly at him in battle.

Kakashi was unlucky enough to make the mistake of staring into his eyes and felt as if he was being continuously tortured for what seemed like an eternity! In actuality it was a short while. This also proves that the Sharingan can even alter the enemies perception of time-space and reality, amongst other things. Alternatively, the Sharingan can also be used to conjure elements such as eternal black flames (The Amaterasu) which can never be extinguished until they turn to ashes whatever their intended target is.

The Sharingan is further refined to the point that it allows the to perfectly observe the enemies movements, at times even allowing the to predict accurately what the enemy will do next and beating them to it. In effect the is predicting the future, if only by a small instant. Another mind blowing ability that is tailored to this mammoth ocular power is the Izanagi, that allows the wielder of the Sharingan to warp reality into illusion and vice versa. By using this reality bending ability, the individual can escape death or other life threatening events. This power is offset by the Izanami which allows the to entrap their enemy within an infinite never ending loop. Now that is simply frightening.

As you can see, the Sharingan is truly the most refined eye ability out there and for that reason, amongst many others , it holds the number 1 spot as far as my all time favourites list is concerned. What's number 2 you may ask? Well, just read the next entry.

:sparkles: Geass :sparkles:

-Various s (Code Geass)

:star2: The Geass is just an amazing power. It comes in many different forms and each of its forms has something to do with the manipulation of another person's mind or soul. Each individual Geass is threatening in its own right which means a few things. 1, that Geass s command powers comparable to those of ancient greek gods but with restrictions and side effects and 2, the Geass powers are so strong individually that when considered together, we see that they offset each other in certain ways which makes the s of Geass susceptible to other Geass s in turn. In that respect, It’s a very well crafted concept which adds an air of viscosity to the narrative when considering the intermingling and subsequent friction between Geass s within the fluid like progression of events. The whole show is centred around the power, giving it a central role and therefore leading to it being one of the most popular eye abilities ever!

The Geass comes in many forms in the anime and they are all splendid! Lelouch's Geass of absolute obedience is obviously the most well known as it allows him to command anyone to do anything just once. Then there's Mao's Geass that allows him to hear the thoughts of anyone within a certain Radius. Rollo's Geass that allows him to freeze time for everyone in a certain radius. C.C's Geass that allows her to make anyone fall in love with her. Indeed there are many awesome Geass in the story, but my absolute favourite has to be Marianne's One Shot Geass which allows her to 'cheat death' and transfer her soul and Geass to another person at the moment of her demise. All in All, it’s a cracker of an ability and I'm sure many of us have dreamed of having it at one point or another!!

:sparkles: Dark Ecriture :sparkles:

-Freed (Fairy Tail)

:star2: Let's move on to another eye power that I find particularly fascinating in that it hasn't been fully explained yet so talking about it allows room for interpretation of how strong it could actually be. I'm talking about the Dark Ecriture, an eye magic possessed by Freed from Fairy Tail! The power allows him to write 'Runes' on objects , his enemies or even himself. Using the magic of Dark Ecriture in combination with these runes , Freed is able to cause certain things to happen as specified by what he writes. For example, he proceeds to write runes on himself and by doing so it allows him to teleport. He can write runes on his enemy and cause them to feel emotions such as fear, suffering and pain, causing them to lose the will to fight or stay on the battlefield. Freed can even fly using them or turn himself into a demon , increasing his strength dramatically. Flying Projectiles Comin your way? No problem, because with this power Freed can even reflect things like missiles or energy attacks. And thus, considering the endless possibilities, it’s not hard to fathom what tremendous things are possible with such a power. That is why it intrigues me so.

:sparkles: Ultimate Eye :sparkles:

-Bradley (Fullmetal Alchemist)

:star2: The Ultimate Eye, just the name is spine chilling. Where to begin with this one. The Ultimate Eye is one hell of a power that allows the to become, in effect, an unbeatable strategist who achieves the best possible result every single time at maximum efficiency without any effort whatsoever. This allows them to be many steps ahead of everyone else all the time, leading to guaranteed victory times infinitum. The Ultimate Eye grants Wrath/Fuhrer Bradley superhuman vision, allowing him to perceive the minute movements in his surroundings with incredible accuracy and precision. While that is a nice bonus, the true power of the eye lies in its ability to fully enhance the understanding of all cause and effect relations. Using this, Wrath can deduce and cause ANY effect that is beneficial to him in battle. This allows him to instantaneously plan, prepare and proceed with any action he needs to obtain the most favourable outcome, leading to seamless offence and/or defence. This makes him unstoppable, this Eye is just too damn badass.

:sparkles: Byakugan :sparkles:

-Hyuga Clan (Naruto)

:star2: Hinata Hyuga is everybody's favourite Dandere and what's awesome about her character is that she too is defined, to a degree, by what she inherits from her clan and that is her Byakugan! This is another epic Naruto Eye ability that doesn't get as much of the spotlight as the Sharingan, but is still a nice power! The Byakugan allows the to see in all 360 degrees within a certain radius around themselves except for one blind spot right at the back of their head. It also allows s to see targets up to 40 kilometers away in order to predict enemy movements and plan attacks.  This eye power is so strong that it lets the Hyuga clan look inside Ninjas and visually see their chakra points! The Hyuga clan used this power in tandem with their signature style of combat know as the 'Gentle Fist' , a type of martial which they used to manipulate the chakra of an opponent through sight, in essence controlling the enemy's chakra itself.This means that the Byakguan can see and accurately manipulate chakra to a greater degree than the Sharingan can, allowing the to even predict when Genjutsu is being used or pick out the real person in a sea of clones!

The Byakugan however doesn't stop to impress there. We were shown in the anime how Kagura was able to use the Byakugan to read people's thoughts or feelings which I must say is a serious mind bending power if you think about it. Sight that lets you see into another person's soul essentially! The Byakugan can even be used to identify targets through their body heat but, given that most of its uses lie in being able to identify the enemy through their thoughts or actions, it is usually used in planning and strategy rather than actual hand to hand combat. Still, in battle scenarios, the power is epic because of the Byakugan's scope of vision. Neji proved many times how awesome the Byakugan is!
