W E L C O M E ! ! !

This is Nomad! Welcome back to Splat Force II: Allegiance! Oh boy, have I got a treat for you!

This is it folks, one of the biggest chapters that I have written (story-wise, not lengthwise, although it will still be long).

This chapter will answer most, if not all questions revolving around Drift. Hopefully, everything will come together.

So without further ado, let's get into this!

C H A P T E R  1 5 :  T R U E  R E L A T I O N S

"Wow, your dad is a good cook, Magnus!"

Drift exclaimed as he laid on the floor next to Magnus' messy bed.

"Yeah, I'm not exaggerating when I say that no one in this family could replicate such a meal. Cod, I love his fish fingers!"

He replied softly. He looked down from his bed and saw Drift looking at him. The two smiled at each other.

"So, when are we going to tell them ?"

Drift asked as he sat up.

Magnus took several seconds to answer. He was truly unsure about it.

"You know, I'm not sure."

He answered. He stared at the covers of his bed as he tried to think.

"I think, once we've been out for at least a week or two I might tell them."

"I guess that's fair."

Drift replied as he stared at the ceiling.

"I think a good time is when my whole situation is over. You are my escape from my situation Magnus, you are a part of a different side of me, everyone else is a part of the other side."

"Well I'm happy I get to help you in some way!"

Magnus said. His smile caused Drift's smile to widen.

Magnus' father walked into the room. He wore a plain white buttoned shirt and a black tie, alongside charcoal tros. His slit back hair was the same colour as his son.

"Do you boys want any pudding?"

He asked, he spoke with the same accent as his sons, only deeper.

"Nah, I think we're good, dad!"

Magnus answered.

"I might have some in a bit but I'm good right now, Hugh."

Drift answered. Unlike Magnus, Drift had the privilege of getting to call him by his actual name.

"Alright, have fun, boys!"

Hugh exclaimed with an upbeat tone as he left the room.

"He seems like a nice man."

Drift said as he looked back towards Magnus.

"Whoever he is, I hope my real father is as nice as him."

"I hope so as well."

Magnus responded.

All of a sudden, Just as Magnus had finished speaking, Drift held his head tight after receiving what he originally thought was a massive headache. However, it became clear to him what was happening.

"Drift. I know about your birth parents, I know who you really are. If you want to know, come to the Dainty Fort in Infantry Forest. They are where I am. I hope to be seeing you soon."

A sinister, cold voice said. Drift was quick to realize that the voice belonged to Bolton.

Whilst Bolton's voice spoke to Drift, Magnus dashed off the bed and held his right hand on his back.

"Drift! Are you okay?"

He called out before Drift let go of his head.

"I have to go!"

Drift whispered. Before Magnus had the chance to ask what happened or to say anything at all, Drift was already gone.

L A T E R A T R E E F R O A D . . .

Drift arrived outside of the Frida-Allen household. He guaranteed that at least one member of the house was asleep. So instead of ringing the doorbell, he instead knocked on the door.

K N O C K , K N O C K ! ! !

He waited outside patiently until Rex opened up the door.

"Hello Drift! Are you okay?"

He asked. His upbeat tone quickly turned into a concerned one.

"We need to go to Infantry Forest, now!"

Drift exclaimed, his voice filled with stress.

Hearing the commotion from the living room, Alyssa walked into the hallway and saw the pair of them.

"What's going on?"

"Bolton spoke to me, in my head. He told me to go to the Dainty Fort. He said my parents are there!"

Drift answered as he entered the house.

"Bolton?"

Rex asked as he closed the front door.

"I'm sorry Drift, you can't trust someone like him, especially when it comes to something like this!"

"No!"

Drift shouted desperately.

"I can't miss out on something like this! What if he is telling the truth? Leaving me out of this would forever haunt me!"

"I-I'm sorry, Drift, but-"

Alyssa said before being interrupted by Ami, who was also in the living room.

"Drift is right."

She said as she walked out of the room.

"He needs this. He needs to make sure that they are alive and well. If he doesn't show up, they'll be dead before morning!"

Rex and Alyssa took time to take in what Ami had said. She was right, Drift would never forgive both them and himself if they got killed.

"Alright, we'll go. But if we are going into Infantry Forest, neither walking nor super jumping will be enough to get there in time."

"How will we get there?"

Drift asked.

Rex gave him a small smirk.

"I know something that could get us there in under an hour. Come with me!"

He answered before walking out of the house. Drift and Ami walked behind him, not knowing what he was on about unlike Alyssa, who knew exactly what he was on about. They all got into the car, Alyssa in the driving seat, and left to begin their journey.

2 0 M I N U T E S L A T E R . . .

Alyssa parked outside of a gate. By the gate was a small, dislocated sign that read:

'Bluegill Town'

The four of them exited the car and walked through the gate.

"I never thought I'd be back here..."

Rex whispered as he entered the town.

"Frederick said the same thing as you when he came here."

Alyssa said.

"This place has been abandoned ever since Bolton attacked a year back. Nobody felt safe now that their security was dead. The last to leave was Zane's mother."

Ami frowned after hearing Alyssa bring up Zane and his mother. Although she still felt bad that Zane was gone, over time she felt worse for Selina. No mother should ever have to bury their child. She supposed it was easier knowing that Zane was never buried but it was even more haunting that his body was never found.

The Splat Force walked through the ghost town. What should've been a nostalgic breeze for Rex was twisted into an unsettling breeze.

Eventually, they arrived at the abandoned Splat Force shed.

"Go into the small woods at the back, I'll catch up with you."

He told Drift and Ami. Alyssa walked next to him and wrapped one arm around him as he stared into the shed.

"So, Barry and Ollie are also gone, huh..."

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner..."

Alyssa whispered as she too looked into the shed.

"I knew Frederick's death was already too much for you to handle. I couldn't imagine how you would've felt if you found that out as well."

"It's okay, Alyssa, I'm not mad."

Rex whispered as he looked at her. He gave her a small smile.

"Is it too much to say that Bolton personally impacted us all more than Terrador did. I know Terrador killed thousands during the bulldozing incident but Bolton is doing mentally more damage to us."

"Honestly, I agree with you. Coming from someone who could've been used as one of Terrador's many slaves, Bolton had torn us down. Knowing him, he'll tear Drift down tonight."

Alyssa muttered worryingly.

"I just hope that one day, once this is all over, that there will no longer be a need for wars like this."

"I hope so too, darling."

Rex whispered back before the two of them looked back to the shed.

Meanwhile, Drift and Ami noticed a rather big difference in the woods compared to how it was the last time they were there. There was something big being covered by a large cloak. Drift grabbed hold of it and pulled it, revealing a dark grey Jet.

"Oh my cod?!"

Ami exclaimed.

"Rex, Alyssa, you two own a Jet?!"

The pair walked into the woods and a smile came on Rex's face.

"Yup, this is my Jet I used during my glory days!"

Rex exclaimed. If the breeze of Bluegill didn't give him nostalgia, it was the Jet.

"Last time I used it was after Fred died. I used it once to try and find Bolton. Obviously, I wasn't successful. Apart from that, I haven't used this girl since the Gifted Wars!"

The Jet was small enough to not be massive but big enough to not be small. The wings were flat and thin on each side, both holding Ink Tanks. Underneath the wings were Sting Rays to attack anything that comes in its way.

The door at the back of the jet was slowly opening, turning into a small staircase leading up inside it. Inside was a rectangular shaped room, containing a row of seats on each side, all of which containing a small box below it, where weapons and other accessories are stored. At the front of the jet was the pilot's seat, which had access to a full view, via the massive window, and also all the controls.

Rex and Alyssa walked inside first, Rex heading straight for the pilot's seat, and Alyssa sat on the right side, next to the pilot's seat. Drift and Ami sat next to each other on the same side as Alyssa in the middle of the row.

Rex put on his pilot goggles as he started the engines. It wasn't long until the Jet was hovering above the ground. Not long later, the jet took off into the sky.

M E A N W H I L E  E L S E W H E R E . . .

Bolton and his followers were inside a dark square room. Both the floor and walls were made with stone, most of it had moss. The only source of light came from the lit torches on each corner and the flame that covered Bolton's hand. In the centre of the room was a stone pedestal with a slim empty space in the middle.

"Bolton, where did you take us?"

Melissa asked as she looked around the room.

"This is the Dainty Fort. It's named that because it held something valuable."

Bolton answered, facing the Inkling.

"This place held a blade that was believed to have been involved with witchcraft. At the time, anything that was believed to have been witchcraft, whether it was or not, was feared. Ink-kind took the blade away and built this fort to hide it. The blade was hidden away in the heart of the fort and solidified in its place. Afterwards, they sealed the fort shut and vowed to never speak of it again."

"Interesting...Where is the blade now?"

Melissa asked as she noticed that the blade was no longer on its pedestal.

"Eighteen years ago, a young man found the Dainty Fort and burst through the entrance wall. He found the blade and released it from its slumber. There were those who tried to interfere and stop him, only for them to be slaughtered. Till this very day, the man still has the blade."

Bolton said as he raised his right arm and looked down at the blade in his hands.

"Why are we here?"

Led asked from across the room, leaning against the wall with his arms closed.

"Yes, this place is tight!"

Bruce snarled, his height and weight caused him to stand outside of the stone room.

"I've come here to reminisce about the day I fought back for the first time. I'm also here to reminisce about those I have lost, those who urged me to become the man I am."

He explained as he stared at the pedestal. After a short moment of silence, the red-haired Octoling turned around and faced his followers.

"All of the corridors are a one-way system. If in the event he brings Rex Allen, Alyssa Frida and that girl with him, I want you three to make sure that only he goes through. No matter what the Splat Force would want to do, I want the moment to be between us, not them."

"Understood!"

Led replied as he walked out of the room. He turned around and looked towards Melissa.

"Come on!"

Melissa quickly exited out of the room and walked alongside him and Bruce. Bolton turned back around, hands and blade behind his back. He looked up to the stone ceiling and closed his eyes. The only sound that he could hear was the sound of him breathing.

3 0  M I N U T E S  L A T E R . . .

The dark grey Jet flew above Infantry Forest. Inside the jet, Rex had managed to find the location of the fort.

"GPS says that we have arrived."

He announced to the force. He briefly turned around and looked at Drift, grabbing his attention.

"Drift, are you sure about this?"

"I just want all of this to be over..."

Drift whispered back.

"I know, but trusting the word of Bolton isn't a good idea-"

Rex's attempt to talk Drift out of this mission was quickly interrupted by the Inkling boy.

"Bolton said that they are where he is. If this is true then I would never forgive myself for letting it slide!"

He replied coldly. Ami gently stroked his hand.

Rex sighed. Both he and Alyssa knew full well that this was a bad idea, but on the other hand, he knew that as Drift mentioned, he would never forgive himself if they hadn't investigated.

"If you say so..."

He whispered as he began to park the jet. The wind was too strong for the nearby trees and bushes to not be waved back. The noise echoed throughout the forest.

The jet landed a couple of miles away from the Dainty Fort. It was barely seen, it didn't help that it was nighttime and that it blended in perfectly with its environment.

"So, what now?"

Ami asked nervously as she looked around her.

"We must stick together."

Alyssa answered as the four of them huddled together.

"We are going to be walking for quite a while because we parked roughly two miles away from it. We can't Super jump over there either, because of the lack of light, we wouldn't know where we would go."

"Why couldn't we get closer?"

Drift asked, sounding impatient.

"There were too many trees surrounding the area, I had to find a more open area, hence why we parked here."

Rex explained as he turned to face the direction that they needed to go.

"Come on!"

2 5 M I N U T E S L A T E R . . .

The four of them were finally approaching the rectangular, stone building. Throughout the journey, Rex was leading the small pack, both Drift and Ami walked together, keeping close to one another, and Alyssa was at the back, fists at the ready in case of an attack. A few small breaks were made on the way, some to relax their legs, some were bathroom breaks, but nevertheless, the journey was now coming to an end.

On the outside, the Dainty Fort didn't look appealing. There was no windows or holes to peep through, there wasn't anything fancy on the roof, however, there was a hole on the front wall. It looked like it had been broken down long ago.

Upon getting closer to the Fort, Rex noticed small, golden badges. There were many scattered across the floor. They weren't just any badges, however.

"Oh my cod..."

He whispered to himself as he bent down and picked up one of the badges.

"These are Splat Force badges..."

"How?"

Alyssa asked, tilting her head.

Each of the golden badges were marked with a black squid logo, the same as those seen on the Splat Force badges. Upon further inspection, Rex found something else among the sea of lost badges. It was a walkie talkie. It seemed normal to him at first, however, it was all going to change when he read what was written on the walkie talkie:

'Property of: Major Chester'

"Oh my cod, Alyssa!"

Rex called out in alarm.

"No wonder there are loads of our badges, this is where Chester and all those rookies died!"

"Oh my..."

She muttered as she covered her mouth in shock.

"I'm sorry to interrupt but, who is Chester?"

Ami asked as she walked over to the two of them as Drift stared at the Fort.

"Chester was one of the six Majors of the Splat Force. He was brave, smart and overall a good man."

Rex answered. He smiled as he began to him.

"He was your dad's best friend, Ami, he was to him what Fred was to me. After Jamie died, Chester was hellbent on making sure that the killer was bought to justice. Later that same day, Chester lead twenty-five rookies towards the killer, only for him, alongside twenty-four of the rookies to be killed. Find out about it was a nightmare, especially since Terrador made his last attack the next day. We went on and honoured them by taking down Terrador for good."

Ami shed a tear after hearing about her father again, and how Chester died trying to avenge him.

"H-Has the killer been taken down?"

"Not yet..."

He answered with a frown.

"But trust me, when all of this is over, the two of them will be at peace."

"Definitely."

Alyssa said, adding on to what Rex said. She gave Ami a comforting smile.

"Uhhh...Guys?"

Drift called out. After looking very closely at the broken down entrance, Drift had managed to barely see three silhouettes.

Rex, Alyssa and Ami turned around and faced the Dainty Fort. The three silhouettes emerged from the entrance, revealing it to be none other than Led, Melissa and Bruce, the three followers of Bolton. Bruce growled at the sight of Drift, Rex and Alyssa: he recognised them from past encounters.

Alyssa raised one fist in the air, Rex quickly put her arm down, not wanting things to go wrong immediately. Ami gulped at the sight of Led: he was the only one that she recognised from her last encounter.

"I don't want to fight. I just want to know one thing: does Bolton know who they are? Or is it a lie?"

Drift asked as he steadily approached the three followers. He had both fists clenched just in case of an attack.

Melissa walked forward gently and placed her hands behind her back, showing that she wasn't planning on an attack.

"Yes."

She answered. The answer caused Drift to ease his fists.

"Bolton requested to see you and only you. I'm afraid that your friends will have to stay outside."

"I'm sorry, I can't let that happen!"

Ami exclaimed as she stormed closer to them.

"Ami, it's okay!"

Drift assured her.

"Wait with Rex and Alyssa, okay?"

Ami painfully breathed in and out as she agreed to let him in on his own. Drift gave her one last gentle nod before walking towards the fort. Led and Bruce stood aside to let Drift into the fort. For them, the wait had begun.

3 M I N U T E S L A T E R . . .

The positions of Bolton's followers hadn't changed in the slightest, except for Melissa who had now moved back towards the entrance. Ami was sat on the ground, several feet away from them. Her legs were crossed. She stared at the ground, fear was taking over her.

"So, last time I saw you, you were raiding a village and stealing from it. Where are you at these days?"

Alyssa asked Bruce, ing him from the Gifted Wars.

"I've been following the footsteps of Bolton, giving me great victory."

Bruce answered. Despite his deep and croaky voice, and his attempt at being threatening, Alyssa didn't feel threatened.

"After all these years, you still don't know basic grammar?"

Alyssa replied cheekily.

Bruce gave her a small growl as if he was telling her to be quiet before things got dirty.

"I suggest you watch yourself around him, he can get violent, very quickly."

Led told the three of them, specifically aiming it at Alyssa.

"Here is a question you might want to consider: why do you three follow Bolton?"

Rex asked the three of them, specifically aiming it at Led.

"He is promising us salvation. Not just us, all of the gifted."

Led answered.

"And Sharks!"

Bruce interrupted.

Led let out a heavy sigh, he knew that Bruce would carry on saying it until he said it.

"And Sharks..."

"Trust me, I completely understand. I understand that you want salvation and that you want to live in peace. Trust me, I really do understand!"

Rex exclaimed softly.

"But what I don't understand is that you would rather follow the commands of a murderer. You pleading your allegiance to a world-class threat is why people are coming after you, not because you are gifted."

"It's funny that you say that; my mom told me something almost identical to what you said."

Led muttered, glaring at the Splat Force Commander ahead of him.

"Even after your own mother told you not to follow him, you still decide to follow him? People will only fear you more! She will only fear you more!"

He told him. Just as he had said that Melissa felt a change in Led's aura.

Whilst the conversations were going on, Ami was getting more and more paranoid about Drift. Eventually, it got the better of her.

"Ugh! I can't take this anymore! I have to go to him!"

She exclaimed as she stood up and walked to the entrance. Right as she was a mere second away from entering, Bruce released a mighty roar.

"AHHHHHH!!!"

Without hesitation, Alyssa shot an energy beam at Bruce, angering him. He let out one more roar before charging at Alyssa. Rex quickly tossed two Splat Bombs at the Hammerhead Shark.

B A N G , B A N G ! ! !

The two bombs stunned him, allowing Alyssa to blast two energy beans out of both of her fists. Bruce was knocked back onto his back. It wasn't going to keep him down for long, however.

Bruce quickly got back on his feet. He roared a mighty roar before charging forward once more. Meanwhile, the only things that stopped Ami from catching up to Drift and making sure that he was safe were Led and Melissa.

"Please, I need to be there for him. I want him to be safe!"

"Stand aside, young lady!"

Led exclaimed aggressively as his right hand started to sparkle with electricity.

"Wait!"

Melissa called out as she ran to stand between the two of them.

"Led, I know Bolton said for him to go in alone but, we can't just stop her from making sure he's okay. She is desperate for this. If your mother needed to see you and someone wouldn't let her, how would that feel?"

Led was caught off guard by Melissa bringing up his mother. He looked to the ground took a long pause. He knew Melissa was right but he wanted to remain loyal to Bolton. Eventually, he made up his mind.

"Alright. But if anything happens and you are attacked or killed, that's on you, not me!"

He muttered.

Ami ran through the entrance before looking back at Melissa and Led, giving them a small smile. As soon as she was into the dark hallway, Led and Melissa ran over towards the fight between Rex, Alyssa and Bruce.

"That's enough, Bruce! That's enough!"

Led exclaimed as he attempted to calm him down.

Whilst Led handled Bruce, Melissa approached both Rex and Alyssa and raised her hands in the air.

"Believe me, I want salvation, and Bolton promised me it and that's why I follow him but, I'm not sure if I agree with his method either..."

"Then don't follow him, there are many other ways that you can get salvation without pleading your allegiance to him!"

Rex said to her.

"Do you know if he is planning anything big?"

Alyssa asked.

Melissa looked down at the ground, feeling uneasy about everything. She took in one breath before looking back up at the two Splat Force Commanders.

"There is something that I think you should see. I'm not sure if it's a threat or not but, it's something that has the potential to be big."

She said as she offered both hands to them. Both Rex and Alyssa take her head. She closed her eyes and thought back to earlier that day. She showed them Bolton's translations from the Book Of The Dammed. In addition, she showed them the strange message about Helena.

As soon as she let go of their hands, both of the Commander was left confused. Neither of them understood what any of it meant. However, things began to slowly make sense as Rex managed to place the translated text with the small message to Helena.

"I see..."

He whispered as he stroked his chin.

"If in the event he succeeds with this plan then it's only going to bring disorder: many would his side because of the power he would oppose."

"I'm not even sure if she'll be the same woman he once knew."

Melissa muttered.

"Every time I try and reach her, she's always scared, upset and angry."

Rex and Alyssa both looked at each other. It became clear to them that both were equally confused.

"Thanks for telling us! I promise we won't let any of this conversation go to Bolton!"

Alyssa said with a wink. The two Commanders ran past the three followers and into the Dainty Fort.

"You let them go?"

Led asked after successfully calming Bruce down.

Melissa gave Led a blank stare.

"We should go back to base."

The three followers started to walk away from the Dainty Fort and into the darkness of Infantry Forest.

"So, do you think he actually knows?"

Led asked.

"His aura went mad ever since I showed him that dream I gave Drift. He got emotional back at the base and whispered 'I knew it' I'm so confused as to what he meant."

She replied, sounding just as lost as they were.

"You mentioned dream?"

Bruce said as he finally ed the conversation.

"What was dream?"

"The dream was with his...Oh my cod!"

Melissa exclaimed as made a realization.

"The dream was about his birth mother and Bolton freaked out about it! Earlier today when we were at Baxter Village I recognised someone who was just like her."

"Wait a second, Mel, you don't think..."

Led whispered. All three of them looked at each other. They were all sharing the same shocked face.

M E A N W H I L E  W I T H  D R I F T . . .

After aimlessly wandering throughout the dark corridors of the Dainty Fort, Drift finally reached the end. He saw Bolton standing alone in the dark-squared room. He was standing in front of the pedestal, staring at the ceiling. However, Drift couldn't help but notice that he was on his own, no other Inkling insight.

Drift made his entrance known as he walked forward into the lit-up room.

"Bolton!"

The red-haired man opened up his eyes and looked down from the ceiling.

"So, you're finally here..."

He muttered. His voice alone caused Drift's heart to skip a couple of beats.

"Fantastic!"

Drift took three small steps forward, he ignited up his left hand and raised it.

"W-Where are they?"

He asked, almost succumbing to his own nervousness.

"Don't worry, Drift, they are here. Well, one of them is here."

Bolton answered as he slowly turned around. Drift was quick to notice that Bolton didn't have his blade in his hand. That alone made Drift feel more intimidated, how could it?

"I've had this crazy theory ever since I met you that one fateful night. Frederick Evans took my life away, my family away and turned me into the man I am now. I still looking over my wife's body in tears and seeing that my babies weren't there. Now, it makes sense..."

"Wh-What are you t-talking about?!"

Drift exclaimed. He has never felt as confused as he was at that very moment.

"Your mother is dead, Drift!"

Bolton informed, not making eye with him.

"W-Wh-What?!"

Drift asked. Hearing what Bolton had said made him tear up almost instantly.

"Your mother died eighteen years ago during the Gifted Wars. However, your father is still alive."

Bolton said as he looked up from the ground and looked Drift in the eyes as his face formed a small but genuine smile.

"And you're looking at him."

Drift was speechless. It couldn't be true, couldn't it? Was this just another lie?

"Stop lying!"

Drift exclaimed as his right hand ignited with flames.

"Tell me the truth!"

"This is the truth!"

Bolton shouted.

"I am your father, Drift."

"LIAR!!!"

Drift shouted back as he blasted a long flamethrower, the biggest flamethrower of his life.

Bolton managed to block the attack with ease. He sensed it was coming. He knew that Drift was going to react very well. The flamethrower lasted for nearly a whole minute before Drift stopped. All of the green in his hair, eyes and eyebrows were gone, all replaced with red. His pupils were now pure white. On his hair was a small white streak.

"The curse has been broken."

Bolton whispered as he walked closer to him.

"It's been too long since I've seen you in your true form, Credence."

The son of Bolton fell to his knees, staring into space as tears fell down his face. It all made sense now, the gifts, the hair colour, the eyes, everything. It was not what he expected but was something he should've seen coming.

"Drift, Drift!"

Ami called out as she ran down the hallways. Eventually, she found both him and Bolton.

Bolton looked up at Ami and glared at her. Ami's heart was racing, she started to breathe heavily. The man who gave her all the nightmares, all the trauma was stood just ahead of her, she could barely take it. She closed her eyes, not wanting to see him.

Bolton turned around and grabbed his blade. He formed a flame circle and opened up a flame portal and walked through, leaving both Inklings alone.

"Drift!"

She called out as she ran over to him. Upon kneeling in front of him, she had the chance to look into his eyes.

"Drift?"

The red-haired Inkling's eyes showed everything. His sorrows, his anger and his disbelief. He didn't even look Ami in the eyes. Ami wrapped his around him and hugged him tightly. To her dismay, he didn't hug her back...
