Welcome! We have recently caught and banned a scammer on this amino, and a few actually were falling for the scam. So we wanted to make a PSA on scamming. If you need a PSA on proof(specifically for art), which is also helpful, check here

First, contest scams.

This is the one we caught. Contest scams are where the host (ig that’s what you call them) promises a very large amount of coins, like 10K coins. This is a scam as they will not pay you the coins. There’s an easy way to avoid getting scammed by this though, make sure they have proof of their coins. There may be legitimate contests of this, but if it’s legitimate we must have proof of coins.

Second, adopt scams

This one is very straight forward. You pay and you do not get your adopt. If you want to avoid this, make them give you the adopt first. However, this can cause you to scam them by not paying. Please, if they give you the adopt first, pay them. If you end up asking them to show the adopt first and don’t pay, that’s you scamming someone.

Now, what are your punishments for scamming?

The punishments depend on how bad the situation was and if you’ve scammed before. We banned the last one, who had scammed on other aminos and was very untrustable. They were also doing the contest scam which wasn’t good. If it’s an adopt not being payed for then you may just get a warning, but this is entirely up to the decisions of other staff and not just me, so it may be much worse.
