Man

Chapter one

"I've always been such a precocious boy but sadly, no one understood my genius," sighed Jhin as he stood over the body of his latest victim; conversing with it. "But I often wonder, where did I go wrong?"

He began plucking rose petals from the flower he brought with him, gently letting them float onto the corpse while he fondly looked back into nostalgia.

'I wonder how different life could've been.' Jhin thought to himself.

Jhin didn't necessarily want to change his craft nor regret what he had done in the past but was purely curious. Once finished mutilating the once beautiful rose, he shaped the thorny stem into a ring and placed it upon his victims head. No sense in letting it go to waste. He adjusted the propped up body against the tree not too far from the city's edge and fixed both arms so that they laid out on both sides with the palms faced up. Jhin then stuck a finger inside the single bullet hole in the man's chest where he fired and painted a half-halo around the mans' head on the trunk of the tree. As finishing the last touches to his masterpiece, he placed the heads of roses on both palms and one in the bullet hole left in his flesh.

     "Like an Angel," whispered Jhin.

The man was no one important, at least to Jhin anyway. Classic case of wrong place, wrong time. The man had been stumbling home from the local pub when Jhin came across him. The poor guy didn't know what hit him. The moonlight that bled down upon them through the thick clouds made it look more angelic than morbid.

   'Perfect.' He smiled. 'Exit. Stage right.'

Jhin slipped away into the night and none were any wiser. Just how he liked it... Before show time that is.

He awoke to find the city a buzz with the news of his latest piece. Jhin had hid himself under a olive colored cloak & hood as he made his way through the crowd. It wasn't his taste but he didn't want to draw attention to himself. After all, he had much work to be done. Whispers of his handy work spread through the Ionian streets. A twisted smile formed on his lips beneath his mask.

'Everyone shall know my name & work once more,' he chuckled to himself.

He stood in the back of the crowd, staring intently at the Ionian Guards who were investigating the crime. He knew they'd come eventually. It was just a matter of time. Not too long after did Shen make his way through the crowd to examine the scene.

'Right on time.'

Out of the corner of his eye, Jhin spotted a dark shadow-like figure on a nearby rooftop. Zed. No doubt he had heard the rumors of Jhin's return as well. Shen had knelt down to study the body closer and placed his bare hand on the skin of the cadaver.

"I will need this brought down to the morgue right away for further inspection," Shen said calmly as he stood up.

"Yes, sir." The guards complied.

Shen knew exactly who had done this. He didn't need the autopsy for that but it was merely for the records and a formality. He didn't want to confirm it in public. The last thing he needed was to cause panic and paranoia amongst the citizens. Jhin knew this and slithered away from the crowd and down an alley. Everything was going perfectly.
