Hi everyone! I have returned once again with another story I have created using our fun prompt in Ficnatics! This time I took a different direction with this story and instead of centering around the characters or a specific ship I chose to actually write about an OC I have been creating. I hope you enjoy it!

“Come! Sit with us!” Mila exclaimed as she quickly grabbed the hand to the young woman who stood in front of her. “We can all watch the boys skate together, Rose.”
Before Rose even had a moment to object, Mila had began to drag her through the busy halls towards the opening of the arena. The women’s free skate had concluded during the morning, but now it was time for the men to take ice. In the excitement, Rose had felt very lost. This had been her first international competition since she debuted in the senior division. The nerves from this competition alone had felt a bit overwhelming since there had been much controversy surrounding her debut into the senior division that year from footage being released to the media claiming she had been having “diva moments” as she prepared for her senior debut. The rumors had been false, but she had no way of clearing her name. All she could do was take the backlash that came from the images showing her screaming at her father, who was also her coach. This was why it had come as such a surprise when Mila took her hand and dragged her off during one of the rare moments she had been in the halls without her father.
Rose knew she should have said no since her father would never approve of this considering he did all he could to limit other skaters interactions with her claiming it was so no one could “syke her out”, but couldn’t bring herself to stop Mila. As they were reaching the opening Rose stumbled, causing her trip. As she prepared herself for the impact that she would feel, warm arms quickly wrapped around her. It took a moment for her to realize she had been caught by someone. A small fear lanced at her as she looked up expecting to see her father, but instead she found her own face meer inches from a young, attractive man with dark brown hair and gentle chestnut brown eyes. She did not recognize him yet found herself so captivated by him that she just stood there dumbfounded in his arms staring.
“Are you okay?” His baritone voice asked softly with a chuckle.
“Umm, what?” Rose replied as she scrambled to try to place her thoughts together as her heart began to race.
The young man began to openly laugh as he gently tucked some of her hair behind her ear. It was then her mind ed the sound of another man’s voice, thick with a russian accent speaking to the man who held her, though in that moment she had no clue what he had said. The man holding her allowed his arms to gently slid off from her before giving her a quick wave. “I’ll be seeing you around, and be careful not to trip again.”
She stood there and watched him walk away as Mila quickly stepped up beside her. “Lucky for you they must have snuck out here to watch some of the performances. Not many girls can claim a handsome man catches them before they fall.”
“Who was that?” Rose asked in a soft voice as the two men rounded a corner and disappeared from view.
“The russian was Viktor Nikiforov, though I would imagine you would know who that is. The one who caught you was Trevor Collins. He is a british skater though he apparently has been training in the US this year under a new coach.” Mila replied thoughtfully before turning towards Rose again. “We can talk more about him once we sit. Sara has already saved us some seats.”
Rose finally turned, nodding to Mila as they both hurried to reach their seats.

Rose kept her head down as she exited the changing area. She was miserable. It was her birthday yet there was nothing about it that made her feel happy or want to celebrate it. Several of the skaters had tried to arrange a dinner with her, but Rose’s father had managed to squash any plans. Though Rose had protested, insisting she should be allowed this since it was her birthday, her pleads fell on deaf ears. Over the last two years her father had become more controlling. This had slowly been taking its toll on Rose, though to the public she would always keep a smile on her face and pretend all was fine so as to avoid any confrontations later with her father.
A soft sigh escaped her lips as she turned a corner of the hall to head towards the room that had been designated for the skaters to go for their interviews with the media, but was quickly pulled into a side room she had been ing. She gasped in surprise before a bouquet of pink easter lilies appearing in front of her. She froze for a moment, blinking in confusion at the flowers before looking up to see a handsome man with chestnut brown eyes smiling down at her.
“Happy birthday, Rose.” Trevor happily stated as he held the flowers a little closer to her.
Carefully she took the flowers from his, enjoying the soft scent of the lilies before looking back up at him through her dark lashes as tears pricked the corners of her eyes, “T-thank you, Trevor.”
“Don’t cry,” He whispered softly as his long fingers gently caressed her cheek, “you should be smiling. This is your special day.”
“It honestly didn’t feel special until now. You know how my father is, he had refused to even allow me to enjoy a dinner with the other skaters to celebrate.” Rose responded as the tears trickled down her cheeks. She looked up at Trevor as a thought dawned on her, “Wait, what are you doing here? You had a competition yourself in China.”
“The time difference helped in ensuring I could arrive before the day was over, though I do apologize I wasn’t able to see your performance. I have to fly back out tonight, but there was no way I was going to allow your birthday to without being able to see you,” He replied with a chuckle as he pulled Rose into his arms, kissing the top of her head gently. “Your father can do all he can to cut your with other skaters, but I will always find a way to stand by your side to be with you. Especially on a day as special as your birthday.”
With those words Rose began to cry softly as wrapped her free arm around Trevor’s back. Trevor’s arms tightened around her as he allowed her that moment. He knew better than anyone the stress and misery she had been going through as of late. The tension between Rose and her father had just seemed to amplify as her eighteenth birthday approached, but even so it all felt like a bad dream as she curled herself against Trevor, taking in his scent and the warmth of his arms around her.
Over the last few years following their first meeting, Trevor had taken any opportunity he could speak with her though her father had made it abundantly clear she was to have nothing to do with him, but she couldn’t bring herself to follow his commands though he brought much of his anger down on her. As her father tried more and more to keep them apart, Trevor would find new ways to see or speak with her. This would even include using his friendship with Viktor to along letters between the two of them. When at first Viktor had walked up to her during one competition stating they should take a photo together, she had been at a loss. Rose had seen Viktor around, she even ired his skating, but she didn’t know him. Of course, with Viktor making a public spectacle out of taking the picture it prevented her father from trying to intervene since he was all about appearances. She could still feeling the tug of her jacket’s pocket as Viktor’s hand had deftly slipped the note into it while whispering in her ear that he would return before the end of the competition for her reply. It wasn’t until she had snuck off to the bathroom to look at the note that she found it was from Trevor. Over the year from that point he had found ways for her to sneak out so they could have secret dates or see each other when the time allowed. All of this had lead to the hidden relationship they now had, but built always wrenched at her that he had to go to such lengths to be with her.
A soft knock on the door to the room they were in pulled Rose from her thoughts as he body tensed. Trevor gave her another gentle kiss on the cheek before calling out for the person to enter. Viktor swung the door open happily as big smile played on his features. As he moved through the door she saw he was also followed by Chris Giacometti. Chris closed the door before sauntering over to where they stood, but Viktor had wasted no time in rushing towards Rose and Trevor.
“Happy birthday!” Viktor called out to Rose happily.
“Yes, Happy birthday indeed.” Chris cooed as he ed where they stood. “I must it I am a bit jealous. You have really caught yourself a special man.”
“I really have, and I am thankful every day for him.” Rose replied as she tried to dry her tears. Glancing up to Trevor her heart ached as she knew in just a moment she would need to leave. Trevor leaned over and placed a soft kiss on her lips before leaning his forehead against hers.
“I know you need to go before your father comes looking for you. I just wanted to make sure I could see you on your birthday. You deserve all the happiness in the world. Which is why I want you to come live with me once this season is over.” Trevor stated quietly as he stared down at her.
“W-wait, what?” Rose stammered as the realization of what he had just said echoed in her mind.
“How romantic! He is just going to whisk you away!” Viktor exclaimed cheerfully.
Trevor chuckled and shook his had at Viktor’s excitement, “She hasn’t agreed yet, Viktor.”
“How could she said no to someone so dashing?” Viktor pondered as a wry grin graced his features. Rose just stood there, speechless. She wanted to say yes, but fear of her father’s reaction kept the word choked in her throat.
“You don’t have to decide now.” Trevor gently replied as he caressed her cheek once more. “Think about it, and once you decide you can let me know. I know this will not be easy for you to decide, but I promise if you say yes I will do all I can to make sure you are truly happy every day of your life.”
Rose’s eyes widened at Trevor’s words as a soft blush dusted her cheeks. After a moment she nodded at Trevor before turning to leave, but froze once she reached the door. Though she was terrified how her father would react, she knew what her decision would be. Looking back at Trevor she smile gently before ducking out the door. “I will be waiting for you the day this season ends.”

The room was dark and silent as Rose slowly stirred from her sleep. Her body was exhausted and in pain. As her mind slowly pulled itself from the fog of the dreamless sleep she had been in she could feel her heart breaking again. It had been six months since that fateful night that shattered the happy life she had shared with Trevor. Six months since the last time she had smiled or even ed what it felt like to be happy. For six months she had felt as though she had been held prisoner by an all encoming guilt that had slowly consumed her as she had to learn how to live a life that Trevor was no longer a part of.
She had been very sick for days, unable to hold food or drink down. Trevor had remained by her side all the while trying to help her until she became weak with dehydration. At that point he had decided they were to go to the emergency room. In her exhaustion she had fallen asleep in the car so it was not until she had awoke in a hospital bed with multiple injuries that she had learned they had been in a car accident on the way to the hospital. She could still being confused by what they told her and how the doctor’s avoided answering any questions about Trevor’s condition. It wasn’t until the police officer arrived to ask her questions that she learned Trevor had not survived the accident. In that moment it felt as though the once joyous life they had created together after he had helped her escape from her father’s control began to shatter. They had been engaged, and planning their wedding. How could he be gone? All she could do was cry for days on end, refusing to accept the reality of what they told her. Then came more news on the heels of her loss. She learned days after that she had been pregnant, and had been suffering from extreme morning sickness which was the cause of her being unable to hold food or water down. Unable to process all the information being given to her she just shut down. Since that point she had refused to speak to anyone, only hosting a private service Trevor’s funeral before locking out everyone from her as she succumb to her own darkness. For six months she lived like this until just last night.
She had been awakened from her sleep with contractions. The pain was so intense it felt difficult to breath at points. Desperately she reached for her phone dialing or emergency services. An ambulance quickly arrived and whisked her away to the hospital where she was informed that she was in labor at 34 weeks. At first she was confused by this news. It was to soon. She still had several weeks to go. Though the doctor had managed to stop her contractions, soon another problem present itself. While trying to rest the fetal heart monitor alarm began to sound off. She looked at it as a nurse and doctor suddenly rushed into her room. Confused by the sudden crowd Rose stared at them as they began to work around her. The doctor called out orders before finally turning to her.
“Rose, we are taking you to the OR right now. Your baby is in distress. We need to perform an emergency C-Section.” The doctor information her as they quickly began to rush the bed she was in out into the hall.
Fear ripped through Rose as the thought of losing the only part of Trevor she had left. As tears streaked her face she grabbed the doctor’s arm, “I don’t care what happens to me, but please save my baby!”
She had never felt relief as she did the moment she heard the weak cries of her newborn daughter, but her joy was short lived as a group of doctors and nurses began working on her daughter before whisking her out of the OR. Anxiety took over Rose as all she could do was watch the events unfold. She had begged and pleaded to see her daughter, but all the doctor would say was that she was in good hands. Seeing she would not calm the doctor finally ordered she be given something to help calm her. Glancing around the dark space in front of her she could still feel the helplessness from before. Now her mind cleared more, and all she needed to know was how her daughter was doing. As she tried to move around in the bed her body felt heavy. It was then she heard a quiet voice speak softly from beside her. “You shouldn’t move too much, you’re still healing.”
Rose’s head turned in the direction of the voice she knew all too well as she gasped, “Uncle George!”
Quietly he rose from the chair he had been sitting in and came to the bed. “I know you probably don’t want to see me, but when the hospital called you father he thought it might be best if I come instead of him.”
Rose stared at him for a long moment. So many emotions circling inside but her mind immediately fixed onto one thing as she spoke, “How is my daughter?’
“Beautiful, healthy, and tiny. I think they said she was like four pounds.” he chuckled, “She is doing good. Breathing on her own, she ate some, and I am sure she is desperate to see her mommy.”
A warmth Rose hadn’t felt for a long time began to burn in her chest as the tears collected in her eyes. “Who does she look like?”
George hesitation for a moment before giving a dejected laugh, “Well, I am sorry to say this, but to me she looks just like Trevor. Head full of that dark hair and all, but you may feel different.”
“No,” she whispered back as a smile that had eluded her for so long finally graced her features again, “no need to apologize. That actually makes me happier than you will ever know. To even see a hint of him in her will always let me feel like he is still here with us.”
