Hello, fellow Once!

My apologies for posting this ranking so late, but I was really struggling because Twicetagram is full of absolute bops. I somehow managed to finish this on time, though, so please have fun reading this massive novel!

Once again, thank you to T gen for continuing to nominate and my blog posts! :blue_heart:

Disclaimer: I am by no means an expert in composing melodies or writing lyrics. This ranking is based solely on my personal preference. Furthermore, I am not taking credit for all of the headings and dividers. I have the many creative and talented s on the Templates and Stuff Amino to thank for those.

Wow is by no means a bad song. However, its overall jazzy vibe doesn't really suit my personal musical preferences. I don't know how to properly convey this opinion, but the melody isn't one of my favourites because it almost seems as if the girls are speaking instead of singing. Therefore, the actual notes aren't very distinguishable to me, which means I don't often find myself listening to this song. I know that there are many people who do love this type of song, though, and I have to say that it's impressive that Twice are able to completely own such a wide variety of musical genres. As such, Wow only places in the number thirteen spot because I find the other songs on this album a bit more musically appealing.

Ding Dong is another song that doesn't quite line up with my musical taste, mainly because the different parts seem a bit disted to me. I'm also not a big fan of when Chaeyoung says "d-d-d-dance on the floor, d-d-d-dance on the floor, d-d-d-dance on the floor". As much as I love our main rapper, it sticks out a bit oddly to me. I do still enjoy certain parts of this song, though. For instance, I am particularly fond of the ending where Jihyo and Jeongyeon sing overtop the rest of the girls. The combination of everyone's voices allows for some gorgeous harmony. I also love that we got to hear rapper Momo make a comeback, even if it was only for a few seconds. In the end, even though neither Wow or this really appeals to me musically, I generally prefer the melody of this song. Therefore, Ding Dong places one spot above Wow.

Don't Give Up is honestly a great song with even better lyrics, courtesy of our talented Chaeyoung. The only reason why it places so low is because there isn't anything in this song that allows it to stand out from the rest of the amazing songs on this album. There's also my slight issue with the way this song ends. I think it ends a little abruptly, but that might simply be because I'm not used to a song ending with a rap break. However, I can appreciate some of the other parts of this song. For instance, I love that Dahyun and Chaeyoung got more opportunities to shine in this song with their two rap breaks. I also think the bridge is absolutely beautiful because Jihyo and Mina sing in two of the most angelic voices I have ever heard. The chiming bells only add to its heavenly atmosphere. Overall, the fact that a song as great as Don't Give Up places in the number eleven spot is a testimony to the fact that this album is an absolute masterpiece.

Rollin' is another song from this album that has multiple quirks that make it that much more interesting to listen to. To be honest, I wasn't expecting myself to enjoy this song as much as I do because I don't normally prefer songs where the melody is a mix between singing and speaking. However, this song is so unique that it just grew on me over time. The little "ow" that comes before each chorus is so fun to listen to, as is the chorus where Jihyo and Chaeyoung interject with the line "bing bing bing". Speaking of Chaeyoung, I love the end of her rap when she says "hashtag-neun selfie plus rollin'". I am honestly living for all of the amazing raps featured in this album. Overall, Rollin' ends up in the number ten spot because, while I do enjoy listening to this song, the remaining songs on this album speak to me a bit more.

What I like about Jaljayo Good Night is how different it is from the rest of Twice’s discography. The instrumentals rely heavily on a sole acoustic guitar, which I think gives this song a very cozy atmosphere. The soft and wistful timbre of the girls’ vocals only adds to the warm feeling I get every time I hear this song. If I close my eyes, I almost feel as if I’m camping with Twice and we’re singing songs around the campfire together. (Okay, can someone please make this happen? Thank you, I greatly appreciate it.) Sana’s little ASMR section at the end makes this song that much more unique and relaxing. Honestly, she has such a soothing voice. I really want her to do some voice-overs, start a podcast, or something that would showcase this voice of hers. However, the one thing that I’m not the biggest fan of is the way this song ends. In my opinion, it feels a little unfinished to have the last thirty seconds occupied solely by the guitar. I think I would have liked it better if the chorus was repeated one more time. This is why Jaljayo Good Night ultimately places in the number eight spot.

Look at Me is such a cute song. It's fun and upbeat with a ridiculously catchy hook. The way that Sana, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu say "nal bara barabwa" gets me every time. The raps also fit in quite neatly with the overall vibe of this song. The only point of criticism that I have for this song is its repetitiveness. Looking at the lyrics, a significant portion is made up of the words "look at me" in either English or Korean. The fact that it switches between the two languages softens the blow, though, but a bit more variation is always welcome. Combining these factors, Look at Me ends up near the middle of this ranking.

With FFW, we encounter another song that isn't ranked higher simply because this album is too good. This is one of those songs that is so energetic that it always makes me want to get up and dance, no matter how tired I am. I also think it's the perfect blend between raps and vocals. Speaking of which, I think it's particularly interesting that we get to hear who are normally vocalists rap, such as Sana and Mina in the ending. At this point, I don't think there's anything the girls can't do flawlessly. Can we also talk about the way Tzuyu starts the bridge? The smoothness of the way she sings "I see the future in your eyes" is a perfect demonstration of the reason why her vocal colour is one of my favourites in Twice. I honestly wish I could place this song higher, but I find myself playing the remaining songs on this album a little more often. Therefore, FFW will have to be content in the exact middle of this ranking.

I know Turtle is one of Twice’s most popular ballads and I can see why. It definitely has a beautiful melody and all of the girls sound flawless as usual. There are also a few fun quirks that I look forward to whenever this song comes up on my playlist. For instance, the entire closing is so adorable. However, a special shoutout goes to Momo, who I think is particularly cute during this song even if she doesn't have many lines. I particularly love when she sings "ba ba ba baraba baya" and "peong peong". Listening to this song, I can't believe that she's the same fierce dancing machine who snatched everyone's wig with her performances on Hit The Stage. In the end, this song is so gorgeous and soothing that I often choose to listen to it when I need help falling asleep. Due to the fact that the remaining songs on this album are slightly more memorable to me, though, Turtle also places near the middle of this ranking.

I don't really know why I enjoy Love Line so much. With other songs, I can usually pinpoint a few specific parts that explain why I love it, but I have a very hard time doing that with this song. I think it's something concerning the combination of the girls' vocals, the instrumentals, and the melody. The fact that Jeongyeon wrote the lyrics to such a pure and wholesome song is an added bonus. Seriously, the talent in these girls is unreal. Overall, I find myself listening to this song multiple times every week for reasons that I have yet to figure out, but what I do know is that Love Line deserves the number five spot.

I'm not completely sure how I feel about Missing U. On one hand, the verses and the pre-choruses don't really stand out to me, nor am I the biggest fan of the instrumentals used in this song's opening. On the other hand, I absolutely love and cannot get enough of the choruses and the bridge. There's something about the way the girls sing "missing you" that I can't get enough of, specifically when Jihyo and Tzuyu begin their respective choruses. I also wasn't expecting the rap line to go as hard as they did at the beginning of the bridge, nor was I expecting Nayeon and Mina to softly accompany them by singing "missing you, oh, oh, oh / missing you, boy". That harmonization and the plucked string instruments was such a tasteful addition. My absolute favourite part of this song has to be the final chorus, though. I love how the melody modulates to a higher key, as well as the beautiful ad-libs and the way Mina sings "baby, daeche neo eodi ganna" near the end. I also love that Dahyun and Chaeyoung worked together to write the lyrics for this song. Looking back on what I just wrote, I guess I do actually love the majority of Missing U enough to overlook the other parts, so it ultimately places in the number four spot.

When I heard You in My Heart for the first time, I didn’t think much of it. I don’t know what was wrong with me back then because this is now one of my favourite songs from this album. The opening where the sound of rolling drums crescendoes into Nayeon's opening verse is so dramatic, which I absolutely live for. I also love the timbre of Mina's lines during the first verse. While I'm not usually a fan of voice manipulation in songs, it somehow works in this song, as does the softer voice that Momo uses. (I would still prefer it if JYP allowed her to use her natural voice, though.) What really sold this song to me, though, is the chorus because its melody is simply gorgeous. I love how it spans such a wide range of notes, in addition to the powerful instrumentals used. The combination makes this song that much more climactic and enjoyable to listen to, something that I'm not sure how I missed the first time I listened to it. I suppose I'm making up for lost time now because this song is constantly near the top of my playlist, which is why You in My Heart places in the number three spot.

You may that I mentioned in my blog post for Twicecoaster: Lane 1 that I have a soft spot for songs that are sung in the lower . The opening of this song definitely fits in that category. I could listen to Mina and Jeongyeon sing their verses for hours on repeat and still crave more. The way that the bridge builds up towards a climax before transitioning into the final chorus is also so tasteful. However, what I love the most when it comes to this song is actually the lyrics. Many people are quick to dismiss Twice’s songs as shallow and vapid because of their overarching cute concept, but this song is a great example of how that is completely false. The lyrics explain that in today’s bustling and busy society, people often become overwhelmed and stressed, losing sight of their happiness in the process. It reminds us to take a step back and that everything is going to be okay. 24/7 is overall such a well-made song, both lyrically and musically, and the fact that Nayeon and Jihyo wrote the lyrics makes it that much more perfect to me. As such, 24/7 firmly claims the top spot among the b-sides on this ranking.

If I had to describe Likey in one word, it would be iconic. This song was one of my very first Twice songs and it definitely left quite an impression. There are so many memorable parts that I don’t even know where to begin. Maybe I’ll start with what caught my attention when I listened to this song for the first time, which was Momo’s killing line. That line is ridiculously catchy and Momo was the perfect choice for it. The rap line also really stood out to me, particularly when Dahyun raps “ooh, jamkkanman jamkkanman yeollagi ijeya oneungeol, woo”. After a few more listens, the rest of this song proved to be just as memorable, especially the post-chorus. Sana’s bubbly and cute voice perfectly contrasts with Jihyo’s loud and powerful voice to deliver an unforgettable opening and close to this song. Overall, this is an era that seems to embody the quintessential Twice concept, so it's a no-brainer to place Likey at the top of this ranking.

I am surprised Rollin and Don't give up didn't make it to the top 5. Those two along with Love Line are my favorites on this album.

By the way, the internet in my region had been shut down due to some internal aggression as a result of which I could not be online for the past week. I really appreciate Dubu Nation for nominating the blog. Nevertheless, I hope I will be there for the next time. Heheh.
