BTS has achieved a career best on the Billboard Hot 100 chart!
On March 2 local time, Billboard announced the Top 10 for this week’s Hot 100 chart. BTS grabs the No. 4 spot, which is their highest ever ranking on the chart and the highest score for a Korean group.

This is BTS’s third song to rank in the Top 10 of the Hot 100. Their previous highest ranking was No. 8, which they achieved with “Boy With Luv” featuring Halsey last year, while “Fake Love” debuted at No. 10 in 2018. BTS now has the most ever Hot 100 Top 10 songs for a Korean artist, suring PSY who has two (No. 2 with “Gangnam Style” in 2012 and No. 5 with “Gentleman” in 2013).
“ON” also scores No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart — their third song to take the lead (following “IDOL” and “Fake Love”). The track makes its debut with 86,000 s sold, which means it’s BTS’s best sales week for a song and the best ever for any title track since Taylor Swift’s “Me” featuring Brendon Urie debuted with 193,000 in 2019.
“ON” also enters the Streaming Songs chart at No. 13 with 18.3 million U.S. streams.
In addition, it was announced yesterday that BTS’s album “Map of the Soul: 7” has become their fourth release to take No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Billboard’s charts for this week will update on March 3 local time.
:tada: Congratulations to BTS! :tada:

BTS’s new song “On” was expected to perform very well during its first seven days of availability around the world, but now that the first period has wrapped, it seems the track was even more popular than some predicted as its intro week progressed.
“On” was the bestselling song in the U.S. last week, moving just shy of 86,000 copies, according to data shared by Nielsen Music. That impressive sum is easily enough to give BTS control over the throne on the Digital Song Sales chart when it is refreshed tomorrow.
In fact, “On” sold over four times as many copies as the No. 2 bestselling song in the largest music market in the world, which comes from the same group. BTS’s ”My Time” opens with just under 20,000 copies sold, giving the seven-member vocal group control over the highest two rungs simultaneously.
“On” serves as the lead single from BTS’s new album Map of the Soul: 7, which itself debuted atop the Billboard 200. The set, their fourth champion on the all-genre tally, opened with 422,000 equivalent units, more than four times as many copies as the second-biggest title. It also shifted more than the next six highest-ranking albums combined.
The new album features two versions of “On,” one which only sees the band performing the cut and the other which features vocals from Australian singer-songwriter Sia.
When the Digital Song Sales chart is renewed tomorrow, BTS will claim their third No. 1. The remain the only Korean act to reach the highest rung on the tally. In 2018, both “Idol” and “Fake Love” reached the highest rung on the sales-only list, and it is much bigger upon arrival than either of those cuts were.
“Fake Love” reached No. 1 with 29,000 sales, while “Idol” repeated that feat, only with a much larger sum, 43,000 purchases. “On” hits No. 1 with more pure sales than BTS’s two previous champions combined.
Almost 86,000 sales should help propel “On” toward the top of the Hot 100, and it stands a good chance of reaching the top 10, and a top 40 start is all but confirmed. Nielsen Music hasn’t yet shared streaming figures for the past tracking period, but the new BTS smash surely racked up millions of plays, and those will also help it blast onto the list somewhere close to the top.

BTS’s new single “On” will debut at No. 1 on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart when it’s unveiled tomorrow, as the track has just been revealed as the bestselling song in the U.S. in the past tracking frame. That win would have been enough to declare the Korean group’s new album a success, but they don’t just occupy more spaces close to the top of the bestselling songs list, they absolutely dominate.
BTS songs claim seven of the top 10 spots on the ranking of the bestselling individual tracks in the country, as only the sturdiest of tracks were able to hold on and continue to find space inside the uppermost region while the Korean vocal act sold hundreds of thousands of units.
“On” leads the way by a sizable margin, selling just under 86,000 copies in its first seven days of availability. It outsells the next-highest track, also from BTS, four times over.
Starting off in second place is “My Time,” which sold just over 19,000 copies, according to data shared by Nielsen Music. Fellow album cut “Filter” also breaks into the top five thanks to over 17,000 purchases.
BTS claims four more spots inside the top 10 on Nielsen Music’s ranking of the bestselling songs in the U.S., which should translate directly into chart positions on Billboard’s sales-only Digital Song Sales chart.
New at No. 6 is “Friends,” which kicks off with over 12,000 sales. BTS fills positions No. 8 through 10 with the tunes “Louder Than Bombs,” “Inner Child” and “We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal,” which all debut with just over 11,000 copies sold.
Inside the top 10, only three previous tenants in the region were able to find space once again, with Tones and I’s “Dance Monkey” settling at No. 3, The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” landing at No. 5 and Maroon 5’s “Memories” improving to No. 7.
As if claiming seven of the top 10 bestselling songs in the U.S. at one time wasn’t enough of a show of popularity, that’s not the end of the story for BTS this week. The septet fills half a dozen additional positions inside the top 40, bringing their count of new proper hits to a lucky 13.
Just below the No. 40 rung, their previous singles “Boy with Luv” featuring Halsey and “Make It Right” rise, as do several other tracks originally featured on their 2019 chart-topper Map of the Soul: Persona, but which are also present on Map of the Soul: 7’s tracklist. In fact, looking at the top 50, BTS occupies 18 positions.
Map of the Soul: 7 rules the Billboard 200 this week with 422,000 equivalent units moved. That sum outpaces every other title close to the top, and it’s greater than the next six albums combined.

As has been expected for some time, BTS debuts their new album Map of the Soul: 7 at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in the U.S., collecting a fourth leader in the process. The group’s latest full-length opens atop the all-genre tally with 422,000 equivalent units, which now stands as the largest one-week sum in 2020.
That figure isn’t just enough to secure the Korean favorites the No. 1 spot, it far outpaces every other competitor on the tally this frame, and even many of the highest-ranking combined.
Looking at equivalent copies, which mix pure purchases as well as track sale and streaming equivalent album units, BTS’s Map of the Soul: 7 outsold the next six highest-ranking efforts on the Billboard 200 combined.
The second-best-performing title in the U.S. this frame, YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s Still Flexin, Still Steppin, blasts onto the ranking with just 91,000 equivalent units moved. That makes Map of the Soul: 7 the only album to shift at least 100,000 copies this week, which is a bit surprising given the number of new releases that find their way into the top 10 and the popular acts who keep recent successes close to the peak.
Map of the Soul: 7 sold over four and a half times as many units as Still Flexin, Still Steppin, easily grabbing the throne.
The albums that place at Nos. 2 through 7 this week—YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s Still Flexin, Still Steppin (No. 2, 91,000 equivalent units), Ozzy Osbourne’s Ordinary Man (No. 3, 77,000 equivalent units), Justin Bieber’s Changes (No. 4, 66,000 equivalent units), Roddy Ricch’s Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial (No. 5, 65,000 equivalent units), A Boogie wit da Hoodie’s Artist 2.0 (No. 6, 57,000 equivalent units) and Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding (No. 7, 50,000 equivalent units)—moved a cumulative 406,000 equivalent units.
Map of the Soul: 7 was originally only expected to move close to 300,000 equivalent units in its first seven days of activity, and as the tracking week progressed, that estimation was lifted to above 300,000, then close to 350,000, and finally somewhere above 400,000. The final figure ended up being higher than most predicted, and it’s the greatest showing since Harry Styles’ Fine Line came close to reaching half a million copies in its debut period.

After a week of making history all around the world—especially in their home country of South Korea, where they have managed in seven days what no other artist could in years—BTS has finally been declared the winner of this week’s race to the top of the Billboard 200, a spot they’ve become accustomed to occupying.
The Korean vocal band’s new album Map of the Soul: 7 debuts atop the Billboard 200 with 422,000 equivalent units. Included in that sum are 347,000 actual purchases, as well as almost 75 million streams.
Map of the Soul: 7 is BTS’s fourth No. 1 album in the U.S. The seven-member act first reached the summit in June 2018 with their release Love Yourself: Tear, and they made history by doing so, as they were the first Korean group to lead the charge on the most important albums ranking in the decades-long tenure of the Billboard 200. Just three months later, they returned to the peak position with a newer album, Love Yourself: Answer.
Last year, they made their double win a trio with Map of the Soul: Persona, the first in this new series of albums. Amazingly, that latest success was their third No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in less than 12 months, which is a feat that had last been managed by The Beatles over half a century before.
On top of their four No. 1s, BTS has also sent one other title into the Billboard 200’s top 10. In October 2017, Love Yourself: Her peaked at No. 7, making the outfit the first act from South Korea to break into the top tier.
This latest win marks BTS’s largest debut on the Billboard 200 and their greatest one-week sum.
Map of the Soul: 7 was previewed by the promotional single “Black Swan,” which the band shared weeks before the set was made available in its entirety. That cut rose as high as No. 57 before quickly falling off the Hot 100. In a day or so, there’s a good chance that the new album’s lead single “On” will become another top 40 win for them, and perhaps even a new top 10 smash. The album performed so well, they may place several other tracks from the 20-song tracklist onto the vital tally as well.
