kaytee papaya treats

The kaytee healthy toppings papaya hamster treats are a popular choice among hamster owners. A 2.5 oz bag will cost around $2.59 usd and is available in most chain pet stores, along with chewy.com and amazon.com.

These papaya treats contain dried papaya and artificial coloring, and do not offer any nutritional benefits. Although they are not dangerous for consumption in moderation, they are not the best choice for hamsters. Because the treats are very brightly colored, you can tell that there’s a fair amount of artificial coloring used which is not great for any animal. In addition, these treats are very high in sugar. Because the fruit is dried, the sugar will be in much higher concentration compared to giving fresh fruit.

Lastly, these treats are fairly expensive compared to similar counterparts. Dried papaya for humans can be purchased for around $0.5 an oz compared to the $1.04 an oz for hamsters. If you bought fresh papaya, this cost would be even less for around $0.4 a pound!

Overall, I would not recommend buying these treats because of the nutrition (or lack of) and the value. A better option would be just to give a piece of fresh fruit, or a treat without artificial ingredients such as nuts or baby food.

Apple and strawberry bunnies

These treats from the rosewood naturals range are all made from natural and safe ingredients. They are also grain free and made from real apple, spinach and strawberry. They are suitable for most rodents as well as rabbits. There are 3 colours in a packet, pink (strawberry), green (spinach ) and tan (apple). Overall I would really recommend this treat as it is natural and healthy.

Oat sprays

Oat sprays are a great foraging treat to help entertain and stimulate your hamster’s brain. They are very natural and a healthy treat for your pet. Another plus is that they’re very cheap. All my hamsters adored them and I definitely recommend.

Strawberry drops

The idea of treats varies from person to person. It is best to keep hamster treats healthy and delicious! Strawberry drops contain sugar and quite a bit of fat. It may taste and look good but it really isn’t the healthiest. I don’t recommend this product, you can easily get a different healthier treat. This product has 4.9 stars. Mostly every hamster likes this product but that’s probably because it contains real strawberries and sugar. It also seems like it would slightly melt in your hamsters cheek pouches which can lead you into sticky situations. Literally. This product costs $4.39 usd at petco. It also doesn’t have any coloring though which is good! Overall this has very low nutritional values and is not very good.
