It didn't matter which one, as long as it was a military and their skills were in good service to their nations. Sakura went to Signal, then went to Beacon. After her years in Beacon, she decided to go into the Valean Batallion, making her way through the ranks with efficiency and held her position as Master Sergeant at the age of 30. However, she worked her ass off to become a Lieutenant after the attack on Beacon where she learned that her cousin Wisteria Willows was among those fallen. Wisteria and Sakura were very close for cousins, almost sisters. When Saki was off duty, the two would talk about anything. Saki would even help Wist with homework and combat.

Anyways. At the age of 35, Saki was promoted to General due to her excellence and efficiency in the job. She started to work on changing the way the Batallion worked with every operation she was given. When the Commander in Chief at the time retired, they promoted Sakura to that rank, trusting her judgements. By the time she got promoted, Sakura was 39.
