Hello! I’m Anitra, and welcome to the guide! This guide will give you all the information I currently have on the topic of:

Roleplaying & Plot Writing!

Yes! Today I’m giving almost everything I know about roleplaying and plot writing for roleplay chats! Well, let’s start with the simplest topic first, since that’ll be easier to explain.

◇───────◇───────◇

Section 1

Roleplaying

Now, before everyone gets angry at me, I’m gonna put this out here. There is no right or wrong way to roleplay. Everyone is free to roleplay however they like, and shouldn’t be judged just by how they roleplay.

These tips are mainly here to help people improve, or get up to the “semi-lit” standard that many chats have. Literally, I’d say at least 70% of chats have the rule “try to be at least semi-literate” in the welcome message somewhere. (Even though nothing really happens if you aren’t semi-lit,,)

Section 1.1

What exactly is “semi-lit” and “literate”?

I’ve made a wiki on this before, but I might as well go through it again for the sake of the guide.

To be semi-lit/literate, the first step is to look at examples, or how others write their roleplay replies. Being semi-lit/literate means you write your replies out as if you’re writing a story. Now, that may sound very difficult, as story writing is way out of many people’s league. But, I can assure you that it’s not hard.

You don’t have to go straight from illiterate to semi-lit, or from semi-lit to literate (Because I’m not a literate myself and only a semi-lit, I’ll only be covering illiterate to semi-lit). That’s gonna be extremely difficult, and will probably make your brain cells hurt. Instead, take it step by step. That’ll make things much easier for your brain to process. Let’s go through the steps, bit by bit.

Section 1.2

How to reach the goal of being semi-lit

Now, the first step you should take is look at examples of semi-lit roleplay replies. But, that’s optional. The first non-optional step would probably be to increase the amount of details in your roleplay replies. By that I mean, start going into more detail about what your character is doing. I’ll provide a quick example.

-Walking around-

to

-Bernardo was walking around-

It’s not a huge change, but that’s a start. It already looks better, right? This is only the start though. Once your comfortable with doing so, start adding more detail again. I’ll provide another example.

-Bernardo was walking around-

to

-Bernardo was walking around inkopolis, looking for something to do-

Once you’ve hit a good amount of detail in you can remove the asterisks (*) or dashes (-) from your reply messages, and you’re basically a semi-lit! From that point, all you have left to do is improve until you’re ready to become a fully literate roleplayer! Here’s one last example to top this section off.

-Bernardo was walking around inkopolis, looking for something to do-

To

Bernardo was walking around inkopolis, looking for something to do.

With more detail

Bernardo was walking around Inkopolis, looking for something to do on such a fine day like this. Sunny skies, few clouds, today looked like a really great day for the little afro child.

Extra Tips & Tricks

There aren’t many tips and tricks that I have for now, but I do have two tricks for now.

The first one is centering text. Some people know this, but other people don’t. Centering text is pretty simple. All you really need to do is put [C] or [c] before you type anything. If it worked, it should look like,,

this!

The next and last trick I have is using formats when replying to roleplay messages! If you don’t know what formats are, a simple example of a format would be:

Naomi

-Insert roleplay reply here-

Usually formats look better and more complex than this, but this is a basic starter format. Although not by much, they do make your roleplay replies look longer due to making the whole chat bubble larger. So, if you want to make your replies look slightly larger, try using formats!

◇───────◇───────◇

Ending

That’s all I have for now! Part 2 will contain the information I have regarding plot writing! I’ll see you guys around hopefully!

Fun tips:

1. discuss what type of RP you and a partner are gonna do before starting

2. if you dont, you should probably at least try to match their "literacy". if you write like a sentence after someone's written 3 paragraphs, its kinda rude
