W E L C O M E ! ! !

This is Nomad! I'm here today with the second chapter of Splat Force II: Allegiance!

I'm glad to see that the series has had a nice start and I'm hoping that this chapter, alongside that ones that are left to go, are going to please you all.

Without further ado, let's get into it!

B E E P , B E E P , B E E P ! ! !

"Ugh!"

Drift groaned as he pressed the button on his alarm, turning it off. It was the start of a new day, a sad day for Drift.

He got out of bed and put on a plain white shirt and a plain black jogging tros before heading towards his balcony door. He opened the door and walked outside, placing his hands on the wall and closing his eyes, hearing nothing except the beeping of cars, children from other floors crying, birds chirping and kids playing on the streets.

The relaxing feeling was interrupted by the sound of his unsatisfied stomach: he didn't even have dinner the previous night. Drift placed his hand on his stomach before heading back inside, closing the balcony door.

He walked into his small kitchen on the right side of the balcony door and opened up a drawer which contained a large book that read:

'Mom and Dad's cook book'

He took the cook book out of the drawer and placed it on the table and opened it to page number seventy one to seventy two to find his parents pancake recipe: he hadn't eaten in almost a day so a big breakfast should make him well, right?"

Before he began cooking, Drift opened the drawer at the left end of the cabinet and grabbed a lighter. He walked to the desk at the opposite end of the kitchen and lit up a candle that stood next to a photo of his father.

"It's been a rough couple years, dad. I just wish you were still around..."

He whispered, wiping a small tear from his eyes before heading back to the kitchen and to begin his cooking session.

He started of how anyone would start baking Pancakes: pouring milk, flour and two eggs into a glass bowl and mixing it all together into a smooth batter. He then poured the mixture into a boiled frying pan before he took a look at the next step which was to take a small ten minute break. He had a small look at the clock which said that the time was fifteen past seven.

Drift walked over to his bed and laid down, turning on his TV. The first thing he saw was the news channel:

'What's The Freshest'

The news channel was covering some strange sightings.

"Good morning! This is What's The Freshest, today we have a rather interesting story about a sighting of a Hammerhead Shark walking into Infantry Forest. Now, seeing a Shark in Inkopolis is already a rare sight, except if your a Sharkling that is, so seeing one in at all, let alone a Hammerhead Shark, is a rare occurrence."

What's The Freshest waffled on about what a sighting of a near extinct species could mean for society, something which put Drift to sleep. Unfortunately for him, going to sleep turned out to be a massive mistake on his part.

B E E P , B E E P , B E E P ! ! !

He woke up after smelling smoke.

"Oh frack!"

Drift yelled as he dashed out of bed and headed straight towards the kitchen.

He grabbed the frying pan and placed it into the sink, pouring cold water on to it, ruining the pancake. Drift let out a heavy sigh and face palmed at the ruins of his "creation". It became clear to him that cooking was not carried over to him.

Drift walked over to his cupboard and grabbed a small breakfast bar. He placed it on his bed as he quickly grabbed his Takoroko Windcrusher jacket and put it on, placing the breakfast bar in his pocket. He put on his black shoes and grabbed his bag and left the apartment, closing and locking the door behind him.

Upon exiting the building, he noticed a Jellyfish struggling to pick up a massive parcel.

"Hey! I'll help you!"

He called out as he walked over to the Jellyfish and picked up the parcel for him and placed in the back of the small white van.

"Thanks a lot! You're stronger then you look, kid!"

The Jellyfish exclaimed, clapping his tentacles together.

Drift smiled and nodded at the Jellyfish before heading off down the pathway. Drift decided to put on his headphones and listen to some flip hop during his journey to Todarodes College.

Drift walked straight forward until he ed the Cuttlefish Library. After walking ed the Library, he made a left turn, went forward, made another left turn, went forward before he made a right turn in which he saw the Inkopolis Subway Station. He looked both ways before crossing the road and going down the stairs into the Subway.

There wasn't a very long line today, then again it was the early hours so that was to be expected. Drift turned off his music as he walked towards the counter and showed the man his College .

"Enjoy your day young man!"

He said to Drift with a smile.

Drift walked onto the train and took his seat. The train was almost empty: it was only him alongside a Jellyfish and an Octoling; neither of the two he recognised. Drift turned his music back on and zoned out for the rest of the ride.

1 0 M I N U T E S L A T E R . . .

"NOW ARRIVING AT MIKA ROAD"

The announcer alerted through the speaker.

Drift turned off his music and put his headphones in his bag before standing up and waiting for the door to open. When it did open, he was the first of very few to exit. He walked up the brick stairs and into the outside world, looking directly at the College building ahead of him.

"Hey Drift!"

Nardia whispered in his ear.

Drift was weirded out by the tone of her voice and gulped quietly.

"Oh...Hey Nardia...Hey Shannon..."

"Hiya Drift!"

Shannon said, sounding more stranger.

"Do you wanna...Spar with me after school?"

Drift was incredibly weirded out by the pair of them, could you blame him? He took two steps back and cringed at Shannon's wink.

"Oh leave him alone!"

A voice called out. Drift turned to his right to see Magnus.

"You can't tell us what to do, Octarian freak!"

Nardia snarled, crossing her arms.

"What are you, his boyfriend?"

"Now that's just racist! Do you kiss your mother with that mouth, Nardia?"

Magnus said, sounding rather aggressive.

"Magnus, come on! It's not worth it."

Drift whispered. The two of them walked across the road and was now on campus.

"Well, thanks for saving my life!"

"Eh, it was no biggie."

Magnus replied, patting Drift's back.

"So, did you study that book you said you were studying?"

Drift paused in his tracks, a look of shock entered his face.

"Oh squit!"

He exclaimed quietly to which Magnus started laughing.

"Buddy, your doomed!"

He said jokingly.

"Well at least you'll know were I'd be if you're needing guidance."

Drift quipped before heading inside the building.

After entering the hallway, the two boys ed a mini poster which was advertising an LGBTQ+ group. Whilst ing, Magnus over heard people bashing it, making fun of it. This made Magnus feel incredibly uncomfortable.

"Magnus, are you alright?"

Drift asked, noticing his strange behaviour.

"Yeah...Drift, are LGBTQ+ people really ed here or are they just making it seem like it?"

Magnus randomly asked.

"Well I them for sure!"

Drift assured him.

"Why you ask?"

Magnus hesitated before deciding not to tell him.

"Just curious..."

R I N G , R I N G , R I N G ! ! !

The College bells rung loudly, signaling that start of the sessions.

"I gotta go, wish me luck!"

Drift said as he turned around and headed to Literature, preparing to be punished for lack of commitment.

I N C L A S S . . .

The class room was a wide circular room. All of the space at the right hand side of the room was filled with woodenbtables and chairs. The front of the class room was a wide but small wooden desk with a desktop and many files covering it. The white bored was shined on by the projector that hung above the roof.

Drift sat at the front left corner, away from some of the students who either sat at the back corners, middle row or the front right corner. The class was chatty, it was a Friday morning after all. All the conversations ended when a Sea Anemone entered the room.

"Good morning! Make sure to get out your Superficial Subway books and also get out your revision papers!"

She announced. The Sea Anemone had purple hair with yellow highlights at the tip. She wore round glasses, a brown blazer and charcoal tros.

All of the students in the room got out their books and their revision papers. However, Drift only got out his book, not a revision paper: due to him sleeping early last night, not only was he missing out on dinner and breakfast but he now missed out on doing any sort of revision to help him complete this course.

The Teacher approached him, noticing the lack of paper.

"What about you, Mr Evans?"

She asked him, tilting her head.

"Oh....uh...."

Drift murmured.

"I may have missed out on doing some last night, I was too tired and slept early..Sorry Miss Actiniaria!'

Miss Actiniaria nodded before moving on to pick up every other students revision paper.

"Thank you for doing the revisions, well most of you anyways. Now, today you will be using your written notes to help you out with today's lesson. Mr Evans, you have to work with what you already know, which judging by the fact that you've been weak in of homework then chances are you probably don't know much."

Drift nodded whilst hearing a couple of people snicker at him, not that he really cared. As the lesson went on, the class had to do mini questions relating to the opening chapter. By College standards the questions are mini but to students standards they were mini assessments.

Most of the students did fairly well on each of the questions, earning around three quarters of the questions right whilst Drift got the lowest with only half. Miss Actiniaria collected in all the answer sheets and placed them on her desk.

"Alright then class, well done for today. For next lesson, I would like you to answer question five which is 'How does the author writing in second person effect the story'. The minimum amount of paragraphs I want to see from you is three. Mr Evans, due to your lack of corporation, you have to do five. Class dismissed!"

She said. Drift's eyes widened as he was given more to do, then again it was his fault for being too lazy to do anything so a punishment is a punishment.

Upon leaving the class room, Drift was greeted by Magnus.

"So, you're still alive!"

He said jokingly as the two began walking down the white corridor.

"Yeah, alive with a five paragraph assignment when everyone else gets three."

Drift snarled quietly: being careful not to alert any teachers that could hear him.

"That's rough buddy!"

Magnus said, patting Drift's back.

"So, you wanna head for Turf War studies?"

"Sure thing! Literature is over for today so I might as well do something productive."

Drift answered as the two of them headed to the large field outside.

"Yesterday we all had a shot in a real Turf War match. This time, we are all going to use what we've taken in and display it. Same pairs as yesterday!"

Miss Clover said, her long green hair flowing in the wind.

All of the students stood up and picked up a Turf War weapon from the large red box. Drift and Magnus went further away from the other students, mainly for Drift's sake.

"Hey Magnus, just out of curiosity, is it normal for your hands to randomly heat up?"

He said as he and Magnus began sparing.

"Well as far as I'm aware, there are times all your body heat up. Were there any signs of this before hand?"

Magnus asked as he fired his Splattershot Jr at Drift to which the Inkling dodged.

"Trust me, I'm really good at Biology, I should know if something like this is normal or not."

Drift made a small ink trail and swam through in order to trick Magnus. Magnus saw what Drift was trying to do and swam away, beginning a mini goose chase.

"Well...not really. They just heated up out of knowhere without any sort of signs showing before hand, it was rather strange."

The two exited their Squid/Octo forms and looked at each other awkwardly.

"Then...no, no it's not normal."

Magnus finally answered.

"That's odd, anyways..."

Drift said, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a Splat Bomb, one from the College, not an actual one.

"Think fast!"

B O O M ! ! !

"AH!"

Magnus yelped as he entered his Octo form and swam away from the mini Splat Bomb. Drift started laughing hysterically.

"Hey!"

"I'm sorry! Your face was just priceless!"

Drift exclaimed through his laughter.

"Oh yeah..."

Magnus whispered, becoming rather competitive real quickly. He reached into his pocket and pulled out two burst bombs.

"Take this!"

B O O M , B O O M ! ! !

Due to his amount of skill, Drift managed to get out the way of both of the burst bombs.

"Alright, we're even now!"

Drift chuckled.

"Be glad this is just Turf War weapons and not Splat Force weapons: they work differently and are more brutal."

"How would you know?"

Magnus asked, clearly forgetting one key thing about Drift.

"Because...my father was one of the Splat Force Commanders. Duh!"

Drift said sarcastically.

"Oh shut up!"

Magnus said jokingly as he gently punched Drift's shoulder.

"So Drift, are you doing anything later?"

"Well I have to do that bullcarp five paragraph assignment to take care of."

Drift answered.

"That and I'm going to a...let's just saw a little club. I'm free during weekends if you want anything tho!"

"Ah, that's fine!"

Magnus assured him.

"Is it a secretive club that very little know about it."

"Well people are aware of the original club from almost two decades ago but very little is aware of the new version of the club that's around."

Drift said, giving Magnus a small wink.

L A T E R T H A T D A Y . . .

Drift entered the Splat Force warehouse, feeling ready for today's training session.

"Hey Cosmo!"

He greeted, waving at the blue haired Octoling at the desk.

"Good afternoon Drift! How's your day been?"

Alyssa asked as she stood up and walked to the centre of the room.

"It's been odd: today is the two year anniversary of my father's death and the first thing I do is ruin breakfast. I know it's an odd thing to bring up but I feel like this day of the year is supposed to be my unlucky day, if you know what I'm on about."

Drift explained, having mixed emotions flying around his mind.

"To make matters worse, I now have a five paragraph assignment on my plate, not fun!"

"I understand how you feel, believe me I do!"

Alyssa responded, placing her hand on his right shoulder.

"There was once a time when an ally of mine died and the rest of the day was just an endless routine of bad luck. I know this is tougher since it's your family and unlike me, you got to know your father. All I know is that Frederick would be proud of the young man you're becoming!"

Drift looked up at Alyssa and smiled softly.

"Thanks Cosmo! You always know what to say."

"Well Rex is pretty good at motivational speeches so that probably explains it, haha!"

She chuckled before going into more serious matters. She leaned up against one of the gear stands.

"I'm sure you've been keeping track on the news but, have you heard about the strange activity that went on last night at the Cuttlefish Library?"

"Not necessary...I was at that Library yesterday, what happened?"

Drift asked as he got changed into his Splat Force gear which consisted of a bullet proof vest which had a golden badge with black Squid logo, long black tros, grey boots. The colour of the vest reflected his green hair.

"An organisation called the Supernatural Activity Investigator entered the Library at nine o'clock and retrieved a book."

She started to explain.

"Nobody knows what the book is about: it's written in a language that is incredibly difficult to understand. But Luke Haywood, who is the captain, reported that the Libarian in question mentioned about somebody coming for him which is why he gave away the book. Some are speculating about who this person may be but a big name in the speculating poll is-"

"Bolton..."

Drift whispered, arms now crossed.

"Bolton hasn't been in the news in more then a year, I'm not sure why he would want to enter plain sight right now."

"Just because he hasn't been on the news doesn't mean he hasn't been doing anything, Drift."

Alyssa said.

"Many have tried to go after him but failed, several Police Officers, street thugs who thought they were the greatest, crime bosses, even a secretive group called the New Squidbreak Splatoon got involved."

"I've heard legends about that group. If they are supposed to be secretive then how do you know about them?"

Drift asked.

"A year ago, me and Rex tried going after Bolton after tracking his location back to the now burnt Once Great Symbol. However, we had an encounter with three of their agents, two Inklings and one Octoling. We told them about Bolton's most likely location but they told us to return home and that they had it covered..."

Alyssa sighed and paused for a few seconds before continuing.

"I tried to talk them into letting us help but they were too focused on taking him down that they didn't let us. Eventually, they found him and they fought. The three of them fought their hardest but in the end, it wasn't enough: he was far too powerful. Bolton took the three of them down one by one..."

"Damn...The world is truly upside down, isn't it?"

He muttered, an atmosphere of helplessness was quickly filling up the room.

"You can say that again."

She sighed and face palmed.

"Some people are saying that the Octarian life style has also been disrupted due to Bolton potentially killing their leader, but that's just a rumour as of right now."

"Bolton even got Octavio..."

Drift muttered, stroking his chin like a beard.

"Well that's just a rumour but as of right now people are saying he did."

She assured, sounding rather horrified of the current Bolton situation.

"On a completely different note, I found something that I thought you'd see."

Alyssa walked over to her desk and picked up her iPad and walked back over to a confused Drift. She turned it on and instantly went into her gallery in which she pulled up an image of a back ally way.

"This was taken in an ally way by Moray Lane, it's very important that you see this!"

The photo contained several Octoling thugs, all wearing black, surrounding an Inkling with pink hair, a Sporty Bobble Hat and a red Zekko Hoddie. Upon seeing the image, Drift was left shocked.

"A-A-Ami!"

He yelled out loud.

"Drift, you have to calm down! We're-"

She tried to tell him, before being cut off.

"No! Ami's being harassed, I have to help her!"

He yelled as he dashed out of the warehouse with a weapon at hand.

Alyssa knew that he was going to do what it took to make sure she was safe but she also knew that Drift didn't take into on what kind of crime this could be.

"Drift, no!"

Thx for reading this chapter of Splat Force II: Allegiance! I hope I managed to get a somewhat accurate representation of College (I haven't been to College, yet). Next chapter is going to lift the focus of from Drift and focus on another familiar Inkling. So stay tuned for that! Until then, stay safe out there! ^^
