History

⌞ •   ˖   °  ⋆   ✯  ⋆  °   ˖   •   ⌟

During the Second Expansion, as Taurans began to venture beyond their home system, Syndar was discovered and Syndrak quickly settled, its beauty causing most to become enamoured with the place. By the time the Ahj'la Wars began, Corizon was being mined for fuel and experimental habitats were being set up on Virdan - however the Wars caused these projects to come to a standstill. Sometime after the earlier genetic enhancements had spread through the populace, the Syndar, Scorsei, and Silestra Systems became completely cut off from their Tauran parent.

Despite their newfound isolation, the Syndar ventured out in search of aid and reconnected with the Chiss, descendants of the original sleeper ship fleet that Taurans also came from. They worked together, developing a more defensive strategy against the Ashla, and their peaceful agreements were maintained long after the threat had abated.

The Syndar never forgot their forebears, but they worked instead on building their own society, feeling they had become too distant from the Taurans through forced isolation, and that their brothers and sisters would no longer recognise them. Shimmering metropolises formed the foundations of their society, and they became master stonesmiths, working with the various heavy minerals of their system, and the nearby Silestra and Scorsei systems as they expanded. When Taurans finally reconnected with them, there were enough genetic variations that they could be considered a genetic subspecies, while the cultural differences were so vast they threatened to drive a wedge between the two groups.

⸙ Virdan ⸙

Classification

Terrestrial

Moons

N/A

Distance from Syn

208.2 million km / 129.3 million mi

Size

5,629 km diameter

A small, rocky planet that sits just outside the habitable zone, Virdan is home to many minerals and has a collection of underground habitation facilities. Much of the minerals here are ores of varying types, and are used almost exclusively for jewellery.

⸙ Shattered Ring ⸙

Asteroid Belt

Located between Virdan and Syndrak, many of the asteroids here are remnants of two other crystal planets, which collided with each other and have not yet resolidified. Landing habitats are located on some asteroids, while smaller ones tend to be collected for use in expanding Syndrak or Corizon's cities.

A gaseous planet with towering cities hovering within the clouds, Corizon is often mistaken for a rocky planet at a glance due to the sheer amount of structure surrounding the planet. The gases mined here are used specifically in the hyperdrives used for military vehicles.

Politics

⌞ •   ˖   °  ⋆   ✯  ⋆  °   ˖   •   ⌟

⸙ Government ⸙

• Seat of Government •

Opal Tower, Star City, Syndrak

• Type of Government •

Bloodline Monarchy

While any legal adult can be elected to the Council, only someone from House Irdain can be elected as the overall ruler of the system.

• Head of Government •

Head of House Irdain, of the Tauriat Supremacy

The Head of House is a position someone from the family can be elected to, upon retirement, abdication, or death of the former Head of House. Council and House vote on the candidates.

• Head of Security •

Elected Councillor

Typically someone with many years of military experience, the Head of Security is responsible for the system's militant arm and general planetary safety.

• Head of Resources •

Elected Councillor

Typically someone with affiliation to one of the major industry guilds. Their responsibilities lie in maintaining exports, imports, and distributions. This is a position held for ten to fifteen years at a time.

• Council of Representatives •

A collection of elected officials from various regions and guilds across the Syndar System. Each regional representative speaks for a portion of the population, while guild representatives only stand for that guild on that planet.

⸙ Political Climate ⸙

Syndari chafe somewhat at the "interference" of the Tauriat Supremacy, valuing their independence even after so many years of unity. While they still appreciate their Tauran kin, many dislike that the majority hold so much sway in their own lives, which have always been lived somewhat differently. Representatives have a difficult time serving as the bridge between the legislators and the people, but the unrest has not reached violence.

• Aviscii Ter'nak •

Very small numbers of technology-rejecting "purists"

Celebrating the simplicity of primitive society, the Aviscii Ter'nak demand a return to the old agrarian lifestyles still observed in parts of the Syndar System. Their main directive is to reject most forms of technology and encourage "traditional" procreation practices, relationship types, and gender identities.

Economy

⌞ •   ˖   °  ⋆   ✯  ⋆  °   ˖   •   ⌟

⸙ Financial ⸙

From an economic standpoint, the Syndar System is part of the Tauriat Supremacy, with most of their wealth going into the Supreme Financial Reserve which then supplies income to the associated systems.

⸙ Resources ⸙

Much like their financial system, Syndar's resource economy is part of the Tauriat Supremacy. While some minerals, artistic styles, and cloth weaves are exclusive to the system, these are shared freely among other systems associated with the Tauriat Supremacy.

• Exclusive Resources •

Jewellery

Being the system with crystal worlds, Sýndar exports extravagant and alaborate jewellery and crystal craftsmanship that retail at high values.

Silic Crystals

With such a variety, many crystals are exported to other systems for use in technology and devices. These seem to be more durable than other crystals, and as such are considered essential to any device intended to last more than 20 years.

⌜   ⋆   °   ˖   • ⸙ •   ˖   °   ⋆   ⌝

Society

⌞ •   ˖   °  ⋆   ✯  ⋆  °   ˖   •   ⌟

While many cultural and social elements are synonymous with the rest of the Tauriat Supremacy, Syndari have always placed a higher emphasis on virtue ethics, allowing many stoic beliefs to dictate their behaviour and thinking. Academia is more highly valued, with emphasis placed on diplomacy and peace, as well as careful planning and thought before action. While Taurans have a reputation for racing into trouble, Syndari tend to hesitate, seemingly until the last moment, before presenting multiple plans that cover most possible variables, if not all.
