MEANING? | Masaki means "elegant blossom" in Japanese, while Danjuro is a combination of "dan", meaning "talk", and "juro", meaning "ten". Together, it could be interpreted as "one who speaks elegantly" or "eloquent talker".

WHY? | Masaki was born missing his right forearm. This led to him being (unsurprisingly) ostracized

growing up. "Limb" is also cruel nickname given to him by his childhood "tormentors" (however Masaki has since embraced it as a reminder of his struggles and is a source of motivation). Offensive much, but used as fuel for his drive to prove everyone wrong.

ARMOR/COSTUME? | When fully encased, Masaki's form is a fusion of organic and mechanical elements, resembling a wolf brought to life. The base layer's from obsidian exoskeletons clinging to his skin like a second layer of muscle. Over this foundation, segmented plates of black metal assemble themselves, forming flowing armor. The most striking feature is the neckpiece, which extends into a "jaw" filled with razor-sharp teeth, giving the appearance of a permanent, snarling maw. This feature is not merely decorative - the teeth are honed weapons capable of slicing through steel. Masaki's right arm is replaced by construct that ends in a massive, multi-ted blade.

The blade is composed of the same black metal as the rest of the armor, its edge so sharp it seems to glow with an inner light. This arm can extend & retract, allowing for various combat techniques.

Around Masaki's waist and shoulders, five distinct capes & robes drift and flow with his movements. Three are secured to his back and shoulders, while two wrap around his waist like a belt. These garments are made of an unknown, lightweight material that defies gravity, sometimes appearing to move independently of his body.

Completing the ensemble is a longsword hilt protruding from the small of his back, the blade seemingly integrated into the armor itself until needed. Despite its fearsome appearance, the armor is surprisingly lightweight & flexible, allowing Masaki to move with speed and agility.

Currently, the main known weaknesses lie in its reliance on Masaki's mental state - if he is unable to maintain control, the Hound takes over, acting on instinct and aggression.

The Hound's own visage is that of a hunched-down, slathering hunting dog/wolf composed entirely of dark energy. Its form is fluid and shifting, never quite solidifying into a fixed shape. The "head" is a agape filled with jagged, serrated teeth that seem to writhe & undulate of their own accord. Glowing, malevolent red eyes peer out from shadowy sockets, fixating on potential prey.

Its body is a mass of writhing tendrils capable of slicing through nearly any material. The Hound moves with an unnatural, jerking gait, as if pulled along by unseen strings.

It leaves a trail of inky darkness in its wake, testament to the corruption that fuels its existence.

M U T A T I O N S

:black_small_square: ~ None... much. That aside, however, Masaki's right forearm terminates in a stump just below the elbow, (the result's been thought to be a congenital). Despite this, he has developed incredible ambidexterity and can operate most equipment with either hand.

T R A N S F O R M A T I O N S

:black_small_square: ~ Masaki can transform into the Hound at will, his body becoming encased in the dark armor. He retains some level of control, but his mental faculties are greatly diminished. The transformation is also accompanied by a surge of adrenaline & sudden increase in heightened aggression.

TATTOOS? | No visible tattoos.

SCARS? | His right shoulder bears a deep knife gash from a hand-to-hand fight gone wrong—he won, but paid for it in blood. His hands are scarred from years of ab/use, with raised, jagged lines crisscrossing knuckles. The burn on his left forearm is the most recent—a mark from a failed explosion blast that went too close, scarring him with molten shrapnel.

SCENT? | Masaki has a faint, musky scent that intensifies when he's agitated or exerting himself physically. The Hound, on the other hand, emanates a metallic, almost ozone-like odor that seems to crackle with energy.

COSTUME? | Stated above. In his civilian attire, Masaki favors dark, muted colors - black jeans, a charcoal hoodie, and combat boots. The hoodie is worn almost permanently, the hood always pulled up to hide his scarred face & difference.

During school hours at U.A, he wears the standard uniform, though he often leaves the top buttons of his shirt undone and rolls up his sleeves, revealing glimpses of his scars.

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Masaki's quiet demeanor belies an "inner world" shaped by his experiences. His senses were severely limited from birth, forcing him to develop other faculties to navigate his environment. This has made him intuitive and observant, able to read people & situations with uncanny accuracy. His (forced) quietness has also given him a pensive nature; he rarely speaks unless he has something meaningful to contribute.

Despite his reserved exterior, Masaki possesses a strong moral com. He's a self-proclaimed pessimist, believing that the world is inherently unjust. This cynical view is balanced by his deep-seated sense of justice, driving him to protect the innocent & punish the wicked with almost ruthless efficiency. He's not one for half-measures, too. Once committed to a cause, he'll stop at nothing to see it through.

— AROUND FRIENDS? | With those he considers friends, Masaki is reserved but loyal to a fault. He's difficulty opening up, often retreating into himself and pushing others away. However, once someone earns his trust, Masaki will go to great lengths to protect & them. His interactions are often marked by awkward silences and halting speech, but there is a sincerity to his words that cannot be denied.

— AROUND FAMILY? | Particularly to & with his mother, Masaki is a changed man. The walls crumble fast as he reveals a son who loves deeply and fiercely. He is gentle with her, always ensuring her comfort and safety. In these moments, one can see glimpses of the boy he once was, before the world took its toll. However, even in these rare instances of vulnerability, Masaki remains guarded, never fully letting his true self emerge.

— AROUND ENEMIES? | In battle, Masaki is a formidable opponent, willing to let go to the fury of the Hound with no regard for his own safety or that of others. Those who manage to survive an encounter with him often speak of seeing a man possessed, lost in a bloodlust that knows no mercy. Yet, beneath the surface, Masaki grapples with the toll this takes on his psyche, the knowledge that each life he ends adds another brick to the wall separating him from humanity.

— AROUND/WITH QUIRK? | This is the most telling aspect: Masaki's past left him with a darker side, one that lives to resorted violence & brutality at nothing but whim. It has little remorse for those it kills in battle, viewing them as mere obstacles to be overcome in its "shared" pursuit of justice. This streak is further amplified when Masaki is transformed into the Hound, with the entity's influence pushing him towards even greater acts of savagery.

H A B I T S

•~ Masaki rarely sleeps more than 2-3 hours a night, often spending his late hours practicing swordstyles or engaging in private mental sparring matches against imaginary opponents. This lack of sleep has led to dark circles under his eyes & recent occasional bouts of microsleep during classes

•~ In an attempt to "tame" the Hound, Masaki has experimented with various methods of physical & mental conditioning. This has resulted in numerous scars on his body, most notably deep gouges along his ribs (8 in total, each approximately 1/4 inch deep) and about 12 bite marks on his forearms.

•~ When anxious or stressed, Masaki has an issue of running his fingers through his hair, often to the point of pulling at the roots. This has left his hairline slightly receded at the temples.

•~ Masaki is frequently seen talking to himself, but what most don't realize is that these are conversations with the Hound. The entity manifests in his mind, and while others hear only hushed words and an occasional growl, Masaki is engaged in a constant mental dialogue

(+ Sometimes he even barks like a dog during these conversations!)

•~ He's also got chipped partials on the left of his mouth due to gripping/tearing packages (or objects) so much.

•~ Masaki pushes his body to its limits, often to the point of injury. He regularly trains for 16-20 hours a day, ignoring pain & exhaustion. This has led to numerous broken bones, internal bleeding, and concussions.

•~ Oddly fascinated with the concept of cuteness to the point of hoarding plushies or drawing character notes.

•~ He has a specific fear of the phrase "good boy", often experiencing vivid flashbacks to a traumatic incident in his past whenever he hears it, not to mention the stares some will get... that aside– He's also afraid of the sound of metal scraping against metal, a sensation that triggers vivid memories of what he's endured thus far.

• Claustrophobia, as Masaki is deeply unsettled by the idea of being trapped or confined, often experiencing panic attacks in small spaces.

•~ Needle sharing?

•~ He has a morbid fear of being dissected or studied after death, leading him to consider specifying in his will (if atall, that is) that his body should be cremated immediately upon his demise.

THE HOUND • TRANSFORMATION/ASSIMILATION

DESCRIPTION? | The Hound is a terrifyingly powerful Quirk that manifests as a sentient suit of obsidian armor, granting Masaki enhanced physical abilities & near-impervious durability. When fully sheathed within its darkness, Masaki's physical abilities are drastically enhanced, granting him superhuman strength, speed, and durability. His punches can shatter concrete (with a PSI of around 1,500), and he can run at speeds upwards of 65mph for short bursts.

A single kick from an armored Masaki and craters form across the ground... or you might end-up flying instead.

The Hound also provides protection against most forms of damage, capable of withstanding small-arms fire & energy blasts. Once bound to Masaki, the entity seeks to assert dominance, often taking control of the young hero and unleashing a bloodthirsty rampage. Its razor-sharp teeth gnash and slaver, eager to rend flesh and sate its insatiable hunger for carnage.

■

DRAWBACKS? | Immense strain on Masaki's body (for starters). Constant transformation & reformation causes micro-fractures and tears overnight. In due time, this leads to chronic pain, reduced mobility, and the development of a dozen or so scar tissue patches across his body. Furthermore, everytime he transforms into the Hound/armor, his body is pushed to its absolute limits. His heart races, his lungs burn, and his blood-pressure skyrockets. Prolonged use of the Hound can result in severe physical consequences, including organ damage, internal bleeding & potential cardiac arrest if not carefully monitored.

– The longer he remains in his armored form, the harder it becomes for Masaki to distinguish between his own thoughts & the Hound's urges. This deterioration manifests in various ways:

•~ Masaki's speech becomes more guttural and animalistic.

•~ His vocabulary (and vocal cords) narrowing to little more than snarls and growls.

•~ His emotions become increasingly volatile, swinging wildly between cold indifference and explosive rage.

Over time, the line between Masaki and the Hound blurs, with the latter's violent appetites threatening to consume the former entirely.

– Even when not in-use, the lingering influence of the Hound can be felt. Masaki experiences sudden bouts of aggression & hands trembling with the urge to inflict pain. In severe cases, the Hound's control can manifest as a sort of split personality disorder (as Masaki will find himself blacking out), only to awaken in a pool of blood, the Hound's claws dripping crimson.

– This also extends as corrupting influence in those around him.

■

EQUIPMENT? | His most prized possession is an obsidian longsword "the Dragonslayer", its blade crafted from the same mysterious material as his armor. The weapon is nearly indestructible, its edge never dulling no matter how many foes it cleaves (with its heft a counterpoint to the Hound's raw strength).

– Replacing Masaki's right arm is a massively ted blade that's 4ft long & with a wickedly serrated edge that pulses with an otherworldly energy. At the base of the blade is a hand-like appendage with four razor talons, each capable of tearing through flesh and concrete by grip.

■

MANIFESTATION? | Masaki's Quirk first manifested when he was just 14 years old. It began with random flights-into-rage, his eyes blacking out whilst something took control. He would lash out at anyone nearby, nails tearing into flesh with ease.

His parents sought medical help at their wit's end, but no doctor could explain what was happening to their son. They were at a loss, their once bright & cheerful boy now a monster they barely recognized.

Things came to a head when Masaki attacked his mother during one of these episodes. In desperation, his father, Yuzuro, grabbed a kitchen knife & stabbed him multiple times in an attempt to subdue him.

Miraculously, Masaki survived. But as he lay there, bleeding out on the floor, something shifted inside him. Whatever dragged him under retreated, and in its place, a new form took stead.

R E L A T I O N S H I P S

AOI DANJURO • 49, DECEASED

Masaki's first mother was a reserved woman with a mysterious air about her. She was loving & ive, always encouraging Masaki to embrace his unique gifts. However, her gentle demeanor masked a dark secret: she was a member of a cult that worshipped the Hound's essence.

As Masaki grew older & his powers took hold, Aoi became increasingly obsessed with the idea of harnessing his potential for their cause. She began subjecting him to brutal, psychological manipulation, all in an attempt to mold him into the perfect vessel for the Hound's will.

This abuse reached a breaking point when Masaki was 16 years old, during which Aoi ordered him to "prove his devotion" by killing a group of civilians. Horrified by her demand, Masaki lashed out, his Quirk-enhanced strength allowing him to easily overpower his mother. In a fit of rage, he tore her apart with his bare hands, the Hound's influence momentarily sated by the bloodshed.

– Two months later, Yuzuriha Usui, a kind-hearted young woman, entered his life & took the role of his foster mother, though she's a bit too sweet for her own good.

YUZURO DANJURO • ?? (ALIVE)

Yuzuro's a broken man who checks out often. He's a shell of his former self, haunted by the ghosts of his past mistakes as he barely acknowledges Masaki's existence, often retreating into a bottle of whiskey or a haze of self-loathing. He's recently let Masaki in the care of Kawakami (Yuzuro's grandfather), who one could say, is the opposite: he's an ex-Hero turned teacher who's doing his best to fill the void left by Yuzuro. But his constant doting & naive optimism often grates on Masaki's nerves. Kawakami means well, but his cookie-cutter personality & overbearing care often come across as suffocating.

RENJI USUI • 3YRS YOUNGER, ALIVE

Renji's vibrant self simply loves making jokes and pulling pranks on his brother. Though they don't share the same mother, Renji & Masaki have a close bond forged through shared childhood trauma.

– Mei Hatsume's acerbic wit and sharp intelligence are a welcome contrast to Masaki's reserved nature. She challenges him to think critically about his actions and pushes him to confront the darker aspects of his personality. In turn, Masaki appreciates Mei's unwavering loyalty and her willingness to stand by him, even if she comes off as "too frisky" on his .

– Masaki's closest friend (2nd to Mei) is Kyota Eto, a fellow U.A student & aspiring hero. The two met during the entrance exams and bonded over their shared experiences as children of heroes. Kyota is one of the few people who can breach Masaki's stoic exterior, often coaxing laughter and genuine smiles from beneath his mask.

– Another is Yui, a fellow student who shares Masaki's love for martial arts. The two often spar together, pushing each other to new heights of skill and strength.

Masaki's archenemy is a villain known only as "The Collector". This twisted individual has made it his mission to capture and "collect" individuals with unique Quirks, keeping them as living trophies.

The Collector views Masaki as a prize to be obtained & has launched several attacks on him over the years.
