What does Being Vegan Mean?

Veganism is the practice of minimizing harm to all animals and nature, which requires abstention from animal products, such as meat, fish, dairy, eggs, honey, gelatin, lanolin, wool, fur, silk, suede, and leather.

Anything that is made from an animal or that an animal produces is not used in magickal practice, daily life, or consumption.

Why are some Witches Vegan?

There are so many reasons, some factual add some personal, that someone might be Vegan. Below, I will give 3 common reasons why a Witch might be Vegan.

Animal Cruelty

The murder and beating of animals might be one reason a Witch is Vegan. I'm sure it is no surprise that many Witches care for animals. It might also not surprise you that one who's motto is to "Harms none" would also be Vegan. Although not every Witch follows this motto, it is very common umong Wiccans, who are also commonly Witches.

Love for the Earth

Animal Agriculture is the number one cause of deforestation, drout, and water and air pollution. Many Witches take part a Pagan based religion like Wicca, Paganism in genral, druidism, etc. These religions are nature based, and animal agriculture ruins this beautiful planet we live on, so it makes sense a Witch who worships nature might refrain from purchasing and consuming animal products.

Health

The protien that is found in animal products like meat, eggs, and diary, contain cholesterol, which can cause heart attacks. It is also know to encourage certian types of cancer to grow. One who is a Wiccan Witch, or one who also wishes to "harm none" might also view these issues and decide to become vegan for themselves or for thier family's health.
