Here in England Remembrance Day is extremely important to us. We the soldiers who fought for our country. I wanted to share it with everyone on SA Amino.

What Is Remembrance Day? :sunflower:

Also known as Poppy Day, Remembrance Day is a memorial day to honor the soldiers who fought for us in the First World War and takes place on 11th November each year but it is also celebrated on 12th November, Remembrance Sunday.

Why Do We Wear Poppies? :tulip:

We wear poppies because they were the only flowers that grew on the battlefields after the First World War ended.

What Can Buying A Poppy Do? :cherry_blossom:

When you buy a poppy, the money is given to The Royal British Legion who run the poppy appeal. They then give the money to service men and service women who are still alive and whose lives have been changed by the war.

Other Ways To Honor Soldiers :rose:

At my school on 10th November there was a 2 minute silence, we also sold poppies and the money went to The Royal British Legion.

'Dear Great-Great Grandfather,

I never got to meet you but the stories I've heard about you are amazing. You fought for this family and all of the other families in England. You were and still are a hero. I was in awe when my Great Grandmother said that you and your comrades broke into a German bank and managed to send the money home to her Mother. She still has it in her floorboards. I wish I met you, I am do grateful that you helped this country.
