Greetings fellow earthlings! It's your co-head Journalist Anne here, today with your weekly Global News!

Global News is a new section of the weekly Chronicles. Here I will be sharing what is happening around the world, mostly LGBTQ+ related and other big events. I'll do my best to keep it as positive as I can, but still inform you on whatever is happening that should be addressed. I will be summarizing articles from an unbiased point of view.

Without further ado, let's get right into it! Enjoy :)

┕———— (..)(..) ∫∫————-┙

2020 Presidential Election Results

Let's start off with the news that most of us are watching: The race to 270 electorial votes between Biden and Trump. Since last week, all the states of America have been counting up their votes to determine their next president for four years.

On November 7th, around noon, Biden led the way with 290 electorial votes, this making him the president of the United States. Depending on which side you , this can be absolutely fantastic news or unfortunate news.

Biden promises to LGBTQ rights if elected

One of many reasons why so many americans were hoping the democrats win; they are far more LGBT inclusive, and Biden has vowed to LGBTQ rights legislation within the first 100 days of his presidential career. In fact, he hopes to make this a top priority to expand queer rights. Once he takes the White House in January, gay equality rights will look better in the future.

Misogyny and homophobia are now hate crimes in Italy

On Wednesday, Italy's government advanced a bill that any anti-LGBT violence and misogyny is now considered a hate crime. Despite protests against ing this bill, is only an extension of the already ed bill that discrimination and violence against ones race and / or religion results in jail time.

I believe this is yet another "big step forward against discrimination, hatred, and violence", as said by the openly gay lawmaker Alessandro Zan. I would definitely agree.

Dog rescue organization in Puerto Rico

Good news time! :D In Puerto Rico, there are many stray dogs struggling to survive. By many, I mean thousands. But one organization is trying to solve this ongoing problem. This is called The Sato Project. Since 2011, these people have been dedicated to saving and giving homes to satos (street dogs). In the past two years, they were able to evacuate over 2,000 dogs to New York and New Jersey before hurricane season hit! So far, they've flown almost 4,000 dogs to new homes.

Even though The Sato Project still has a long way to go, they've also come so far in helping and rescuing these dogs :).

┍————- /ᐠ。ꞈ。ᐟ\ ————┑

That's it for this week's Global News! I hope you stick around next week to stay up to date :). Otherwise, be sure to stay safe, wash your hands, wear a mask, continue social distancing, and have a good day!

𖤐 How To Find Good Sources 𖤐

Are you ever trying to do research on something but you're not sure whether or not the website you're reading is 100% factual? Well, this is a blog to help you figure out which websites you can trust and which ones you can't.

✎﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏

. . . . . . . ╰──╮

╭──╯   . . . . . . .

Usually looking on well known websites is a good way to know that you are going to get good information. Let's say you want to learn about a certain person in history like Frida Kahlo, you would possibly visit Wikipedia to read about her.

••••

Wikipedia is known as a very factual site. But reading on a different website that may not look well put together or seems shady may not be the best idea to read on.

••••

Another way of knowing which websites are good and which aren't is to first do research on the website and see if there are any bad reviews or comments made about them.

••••

Another example, let's say you want to learn about the latest news about your favorite celebrity. You definitely wouldn't want to check a news website that is known for being malicious or creating rumors. You would want to check a trusted website like People or etc.

••••

When doing research online you want to make sure you're getting correct information. Just taking proper precautions online and making sure what you're reading isn't wrong/a bunch of nonsense is pretty helpful.

••••

I hope this article was helpful.

Thank you for reading.

How to Have a Positive Mindset

┊ ┊ ┊ ┊

┊ ┊ ┊ ★

┊ ┊ ☆

┊ ★

Hello everyone! Here is a list of five ways that we can help to have a more positive mindset during our everyday lives!

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

°·Practicing Gratitude·°

Have a gratitude journal, write about things you feel grateful for! Making a short list everyday can help with your mental health. Think about the things that make you happy, be it people or pets. This can help boost self esteem levels!

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

°·Humor·°

Expose yourself to positive humor or other things you find funny! Being able to laugh in situations you feel down can be a boost of happy feelings and thoughts.

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

°·Practice Positive Self-Talk·°

Don't talk down to yourself. Talk to yourself like you would a good friend who was struggling, you want them to feel better, right? It should be the same with yourself. Positive talk is important to feeling better.

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

°·Identify Things That Make You Feel Negatively·°

Find these things that make you unhappy, whether it be a detail about other people, about your situations, or about yourself. If you find it hard to identify these problems, having a friend to help you identify these things.

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

°·Start Your Day On A Positive Note·°

Create something to say to yourself to make you feel better and see the day on something you can make better.

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

"Reminder: You can start over at anytime. Your day is not ruined. Your world is not over. Take a deep breath and start over."

Heya, it's Shelley here! I hope that everyone is doing okay.

Alrighty, I will tell you a few ways of how to help someone having a panic attack.

˚₊·͟͟͟͟͟͟͞͞͞͞͞͞➳❥ 𝘋𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 :;

It can bring a panic attack under control. Let and tell that person to inhale and exhale some air, but not too fast before it gets worse and nobody wants that. Also, try to stay calm and the person as well.

˚₊·͟͟͟͟͟͟͞͞͞͞͞͞➳❥ 𝘚𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘴 :;

It can satisfy a panic attack. Bring the person to a peaceful spot where that person can sit and where it's not so busy with too much people and stay there to company the person for awhile until their panic attack is gone and feels better again.

˚₊·͟͟͟͟͟͟͞͞͞͞͞͞➳❥ 𝘔𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴 :;

Offer the person the medicines if the person usually takes medicines during a panic attack. The person must take the medicines prescribed by the doctor, because it can help the person that the panic attack goes away faster.

˚₊·͟͟͟͟͟͟͞͞͞͞͞͞➳❥ 𝘚𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 :;

Speak to the person in short and simple sentences and please watch out of what you are saying to the person. Don't tell the person these sentences; "please don't be in panic", "It's all in your head " and etc. You may be making the person feel uncomfortable and not taking it seriously.

Greetings fellow earthlings, and welcome to my part of this week's Chronicles! Today I'll be discussing with you the different styles of roleplay. Without further ado, let's get right into it! Enjoy :)

· ───── · :performing_arts: · ───── ·

Role Playing is when someone takes on a role by changing their behaviour to the character they're portraying. Roleplay is most popular in Role Playing Games (RPG), such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It is also popular online, such as on Aminos and Discord servers.

· ───── · :performing_arts: · ───── ·

Script

Script is a simple style of roleplay that can be done in first or their person. It basically follows what a regular script would look like.

i.e.: *runs up to you and gives hug*

· ───── · :performing_arts: · ───── ·

One-liners

One-liner is also a simply style of roleplay that is exactly what it sounds like. One-liner means to say one sentence of dialogue at a time. This makes it hard to know what the character is doing, but offers a lot of room for imagination.

i.e.: I don't know, going in there seems risky Paul

· ───── · :performing_arts: · ───── ·

Casual

Casual role playing is fairly similar to script and one-liners. It's usually associated with the person's name, and is almost always done in first person.

i.e.: *laughs* Connie, you're too funny!

· ───── · :performing_arts: · ───── ·

Semi-Lit

Semi Literate, or just Semi Lit is a style that gets a little more complicated. Its still pretty common, but has more detail and uses quotation marks. It's fairly laid back, and is usually written in short paragraphs.

i.e.: Mary walked down the hallway to end up in Yumeko's living area. She wasn't too surprised to see that her entire family was playing poker at the table. "Well, I can see why you're such a compulsive gambler Yumeko." She said.

· ───── · :performing_arts: · ───── ·

Literate

Literate role playing is basically a more intense version of semi-lit. It requires much more writing, proper grammar as if you're writing a book.

I won't include an example since jeez these are long.

· ───── · :performing_arts: · ───── ·

That wraps it up for my part of the Chronicles! Thank you for reading. Enjoy the rest of the Chronicles! :)

I'm Alex, your local cryptid, and I'm here to give you some cheap gift ideas. Enjoy :)

-----

1. Pins, badges, and patches

This is a super good idea and can be really good for individuality - you can get these on just about anything and they can be really fun for personalising items. LGBT+ ones are also great for showing pride.

2. Plants and terrariums

I'd advise you to make sure that the recipient can have plants, but these make a great addition to any room, and plants such as succulents and cacti are relatively low maintenance. Terrariums or self sustaining eco systems are also pretty cool, as they're a bit less open air and so may be easier to keep.

3. Camera film/ equipment

This one is for the photographers - film, especially common formats such as 36mm, can be cheap and a good gift for those who shoot the format. If not, a new SD card or some equipment such as macro tubes can be really appreciated.

4. Plushies

These can vary in prices a lot but can be really uplifting to the recipient, and can be valued for years to come. Plushies from specific fandoms/ themes can also be very cool. My personal suggestion is a lalafanfan/ laffin duck or frog.

5. Snacks

Check dietary requirements first! Whether you go for the classics or decide to give your friends some from a different country, snacks are usually cheap and provide a lot of joy. You can also pick up selection boxes that fit through mailboxes, which are good for delivering.

6. Health/ beauty/ hygiene

Some nice perfume or bath item can be really neat! Alternatively, look into what make up brands your recipient likes and get them an item from that - it can save some money for them down the line, too.

7. Stationery

This can be valued especially by artists and students - stationery is always handy to have, and art stationery is also a good idea - maybe your recipient needs a new eraser or set of sketching pencils.

8. Books

Give them something to read! Maybe something you've been hearing them go on about for a while, or a personal favourite of yours that you know they haven't read yet - it's always nice to get stuck into a book.

9. Socks

You can never have enough socks. There's so many cool colors and patterns, too, and pairs can have so much coolness to them. Socks are also great for people who wear through them quickly. Just be aware of what type they may like, as some prefer different types such as bamboo.

10. Lego/ a small game of sorts

A small set of Lego/ Nanoblock can be very entertaining and worthwhile. Small games may include card games such as Exploding Kittens, and can also be great fun.

-----

When buying gifts, please make sure to try and use small businesses, such as your local highstreet stores (check for their websites) and Etsy stores. ing small businesses can really help people, and often result in better quality items and service.

Thanks for reading! :D

Hiya papaya, it’s your friendly neighborhood journalist curator Lotte again, this time with some fun things you can do online with friends.

━━━━┅━━━┅━━━━

Play online games

This would probably be the most obvious, there are a bunch of online games you can play either with a console, computer or just your phone. A few examples are Among Us, fortnite, evil apples, Wordfeud, minecraft and many more.

═ ∘◦❦◦∘ ═

Watch movies together

There are various applications or web add-ons that makes it possible to watch a movie together with your friends. Even here on amino you can watch a movie with friends, you just need to have it on your phone.

═ ∘◦❦◦∘ ═

Online shop

We can maybe not go out and go to the store to look for clothes with your friends, but you can always, call your friends and do some online shopping. Showing what you found on camera or by sending a link is still a fun way to do something together.

═ ∘◦❦◦∘ ═

Videocall

It might also be an obvious one, but if you can’t be together in person then it can always be fun to videocall and just spend time together that way. Tell jokes, talk about what you’ve been doing lately or just talk about nonsense.

═ ∘◦❦◦∘ ═

Write/draw together

If you’re all more on the creative side, then there are various websites and programs, where you can collectively write or draw together. So make a big drawing together or write a book together where each person writes a paragraph and see what you can come up with.

That was it for this week's chronicles, I hope you enjoyed it and learned something from it. Make sure to check out the takeover each week on Wednesday and the chronicles each Sunday. Missed last week’s chronicles? You can find that here and as always stay awesome and make sure to eat and drink enough and get enough sleep, I’ll see you next time.
