I am back from the dead and decided to give Yixing's latest masterpiece some love and appreciation (because it deserves the world and it is still Yixing-tober, so...). I know I made a lot of mistakes (especially with the FA) but I still hope you will like the blog nonetheless since I have put all my love for Yixing into it :heart:

Sᴏɴɢ Aᴘᴘʀᴇᴄɪᴀᴛɪᴏɴ

Instrumental:

The Instrumental for this song is quite unusual for Kpop/ op since it dips into a lot of different genres at the same time. Tropical House, R’n’B, Jazz, Hip Hop and Oriental folk just to name a few. At first I thought the flute would annoy the hell out of me but it turns out, it is exactly what the song needs to keep the energy and mood up.

My favorite thing would have to be the brass. When I first heard it, I almost fell out of my chair because it was so unexpected but damn, so impactful! With the wind instruments, the castanets, melodic drums and clapping the Instrumental gives us totally new insights to how a pop song can sound. It overflows with life and joy and the urge to dance till we drop.

Vocals:

Of course, Yixing is one hell of a singer! He mostly uses his head voice but it still seems powerful and soulful. I really like the different vocal parts of the song. There is the joyous and contagious “namanana nana”, the unhurried, narrative verses, the strong, almost aggressive raps and the lyrical and impactful chorus. The thing that connects them all is Yixing’s very own style to make singing sound like talking and talking (rapping) sound like singing.

Just as the Instrumental the vocals show us various musical approaches and facettes which make me want to sing along and have fun.

MV Aᴘᴘʀᴇᴄɪᴀᴛɪᴏɴ

I am absolutely in love with the colours and overall mood of the song.The turquoise and pink are so well chosen und give a soft, fluffy and beautiful contrast to the desert and cave themes. My favorite visual parts are when they dance next to the pink water and later on the cliff.

From the album cover I would have thought the MV would be more rain foresty like but these themes and colours are even more perfect for that life-giving energy the song conveys.

Another thing that’s just precious is how happy Yixing looks (especially when he dances). It adds even more to the joyous atmosphere and melts my heart. Who doesn’t want to see a happy Yixing?

Apart from me loving the MV I have no idea what is happening there. There are other fans that are very good at explaining and giving us theories, so I will not wreck my brain to come up with some weird sh*t. But even I can see there are a lot of things to theorize about and I hope to read some fanfics about it sooner or later (*wink*if you guys feel like it *winkwink* don’t hesitate *wink*).

What else can I say, man? … Oh yeah! … Shirtless, dancing Yixing…

Fᴀɴᴀʀᴛ

I also really wanted to draw Yixing. For some time I couldn’t decide whether I would draw an image from the MV, one of the “Give Me A Chance” pictures or the album cover. And for now it is only the latter.

I tried a different approach this time, for i wanted to concentrate on the different colours and the geometric aspect of it. So it became somewhat of a collage? I am not 100% satisfied with the outcome but I still wanted it to be part of this blog. Maybe I will redo it someday~
