Greetings!
As not all of you may be aware, AOI Art Academy is going through a reformation phase under new management. The leaders are excited to bring you a brand new active AOI through various club activities that will be enacted steadily throughout the month.
:snowflake: AOI Quota Plan :snowflake:
A new requirement in AOI is for to post at least 1 art work a week.*
*If they are working on something else that will take longer than a week, they are to post a wip of the project.
Other than posting a regular old YOI work, AOI plans to provide alternatives via prompts or homework.
:snowflake: Tutorial Tuesday :snowflake:
Every tuesday, one tutorial will be posted by a member of the AOI Tutorial Artists (composed of 4 groups, 3 each group)
The AOI are to participate by following this tutorial, sort of like art homework, and will serve as their weekly quota submission.
Deadline is every sunday. The top 3 works submitted will be featured.
Tutorial Tuesday Update
Aug 13
We have gathered a sufficient team of 1, composed of 5 all working on one 1 tutorial post. As it is now, the team is still unstable and we realized that making tutorials on top of our daily lives will take more time and more .
Until we are able to recruit more experienced artists willing to help, we will delay this particular event until we have a backlog of 8 tutorials prepared to be released to the YOIA public. Occasional updates will be made by Interstellar on the project to let you know how we are doing. Thank you for your patience.
List of future tutorials:
• Facial expressions and corresponding hand gestures, explanation
• Anatomy of Hands and Feet
• General Body Proportions
• Anatomy of Victor's butt and Yuuri's thighs
• Proper Shading and Lighting on the face and hair starting with the basics
In the meantime that these tutorials are not presented yet, fun and creative drawing prompts will be supplied instead (taken from various sources from the internet) to use on YOI Characters!
Tutorial Tuesday Update
Aug 16
The first Tutorial Tuesday blog has been posted along with S/S reviews and clarification on the quota and how to tag and submit.
:mortar_board: AOI Classroom: WK 1 :mortar_board:
#AoiPromptips is the tag to be used when submitting an entry for the T/T prompts.
The formal Tutorial Tuesday lessons are yet to be active because the Tutorial Team are still in the process of making the tutorials.
Instead of 8 tutorials, we plan to just have at least 3 before posting them weekly, and have Promptips to gage progress within the community in between tutorial weeks.
:snowflake: Sketchy Sunday :snowflake:
The AOI profile will feature (3) sketches made by their every week. These sketches will be chosen by the leaders and will be given a colorful narrative on what they liked about it.
Deadline is every saturday. Some works that didn’t make it that week to the top 3 may be posted the following week.
These events will not be without incentive. A point system will be enacted and the points will be equivalent to the likes they receive. Bonus points will be in the form of stars given by the AOI Leaders with a maximum of 5 stars each post. By the end of every month, these points will be added for a total amount. The member with the highest total shall receive a prize of their choosing: Tag change, art from a senior artist of their choosing, and a like spam for their work from all the AOI and YOIA Mod Teams.
Sketchy Sunday Update
Aug 14
Through trial and error, we've come to the decision that all S/S posts will be reviewed by the AOI review team composed of Interstellar, Yuurikun, Katsukk, and christON-gc. There were a lot more submissions than expected (but not unwelcomed) and choosing just (3) out of all of them was a hard choice to make, especially when they came in different media. So here's the new get-go:
There will be (2) categories and 6 works will be chosen, 3 traditional and (3) digital as both Top 3's..BUT all of the others who submitted their S/S posts will ALSO be reviewed. We're doing this now because we believe everyone should be praised for trying. Their efforts are not wasted and we are happy to note them.
The point system will follow the same rules, so in the end, it's still a hard game to win.
Also , you may submit more than (1) AOI quota post per week (their points will still be valid) BUT you may only submit 1 S/S post a week.
*Non-YOI art will not be given points.
*To AOI who draw weekly for the quota, please do not forget to submit them here or they will not be counted unless linked in the post. This is just like ing homework, they won't be counted for points by the end of the month unless done so.
:snowflake: AOI Review Center :snowflake:
An AOI Review portal will be made where all YOIA who wish to have their posts reviewed will paste a link to it in the comments.
The reviewers will be a set team of artists who are able to critic the member’s work concisely but politely and offer real advice on how to improve the member’s artwork as a whole or on whatever the member has specifically asked about.
A list of Reviewers will be posted after a sufficient team has been gathered.
:snowflake: Other News :snowflake:
We are in the process of recruiting new for AOI, they will be invite only for now. The list will categorize its according to various levels of skill and the type of art they are willing to open for request. It will be completed come September together with an introduction for the new leaders.
AOI will also be hosting a positivity art challenge in September in collaboration with the Anti-Bullying Squad. A challenge post will be created by the end of August.
Please check HERE for a preview of the challenge as well as other future AOI hosted events.
