For all the last minute people out there, here is a really quick and still fun garlic fried rice recipe! It's easy to make and still looks fun for a Halloween themed meal.

« INGREDIENTS »

Garlic to your liking

Leftover rice, cooled down

Eggs to your liking

Soy sauce

Butter

Salt and pepper

« INSTRUCTIONS »

Separate egg yolk and egg white and add the egg yolk to the rice, mix until the rice is coated evenly. Beat up the egg white a bit and add salt to your liking. Put aside for later.

Put a bit of cooking oil into a pan or pot and fry the minced garlic until it has a golden roast. Turn the heat to low and add a bit of soy sauce to the garlic, let it simmer for a bit but be careful not to burn it.

Turn the heat up to medium again and add the egg yolk coated rice and mix evenly. Add salt and pepper.

Make a small space and add butter. Wait until it's melted and pour in the egg whites. Stir the eggs until they're mostly done.

Mix everything together now and add seasoning to your liking. You can add more soy sauce, curcuma or curry powder for a nice colour.

Put into a bowl, cut up some vegetables and decorate with a sauce of your choice. I used sriracha sauce but you could also use ketchup if you don't eat spicy.

The end of October is one of my mom’s favorite times of year, along with my boss. They both love Halloween too. I could care less about Halloweeen though, so when it was time to bring a dish in, they both wanted Halloween. On Halloween creatures are rising from their graves, and lots of people are eating “eyeballs”. So I made Graves and Eyeballs.

Graves

« INGREDIENTS »

1 box of pillsbury brownie mix

⅔ cup oil

¼ cup water

2 eggs

1 cup of powdered sugar

1 pack of pillsbury sugar cookie dough mix

1 stick of butter

1 egg

¼ cup of flour

« DIRECTIONS »

1. Set your oven to 350 degrees F for metal or glass pan. For dark-coated pan, set your oven to 325 degrees F. Grease bottom of pan or spray with no-stick cooking spray. We recommend using Crisco oil and no-stick cooking spray.

2. Combine brownie mix, oil, water and eggs in large bowl; stir 50 strokes with spoon. Spread into greased pan.

3. Pour half into your pan and set aside.

4. Combine sugar cookie mix, softened butter and egg in a medium sized bowl.

5. Once combined dump onto a lightly floured surface and roll to about ½ inch think. Cut into pieces and lay on top of the brownie batter in the pan. Repeat until all cookie dough is gone.

6. Pour rest of brownie batter on top and spread evenly.

7. Bake at 350 degrees F. Follow the bake times below. For dark-coated pan, bake at 325 degrees F. Thick: 13 inch x 9 inch pan size; 350 degrees F oven temp; 28 to 31 minutes bake time. Thicker: 9 inch x 9 inch pan size; 350 degrees F oven temp; 30 to 35 minutes bake time. Thickest: 8 inch x 8 inch pan size; 350 degrees F oven temp; 45 to 50 minutes bake time.

8. Once cooled sprinkle powdered sugar on top, cut and serve.

Eyeballs

« INGREDIENTS »

3 tablespoons of butter

1 package (10 ounces about 40 Marshmallows) of Marshmallows

6 cups of rice Crispy cereal (or cherries)

M&M’s

« DIRECTIONS »

1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.

2. Add Kellogg's Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until well coated.

3. Using buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cool. Cut into 2-inch squares.

4. Sprinkle M&M’s on top and roll into balls.

Makes about 20 depending on size of cups.

For the muffins:

130g Butter

210g flour

220g superfine sugar

1tbsp and 1tsp baking powder

1 pinch of salt

4 (large) eggs

For the icing:

300g fine sugar

9tsp hot water

—> 3tsp to every 100g fine sugar

For decorating:

Sugar eyes

Licorice

« METHOD »

For the muffins:

1. Make sure your sugar is very fine by putting it through a sieve into your mixing bowl. If this isn’t done you will have lumps in your mixture.

2. Add the butter, sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and eggs together into a large mixing bowl and mix slowly.

3. Divide your mixture into muffin cups, but make sure they’re only filled about halfway, because they will rise when they bake. Put too much mixture into one cup and they will overflow!

4. Pre-heat your over to 350F or 180C. Place your muffins into the oven and let them bake for 15-20 minutes.

5. Allow them to cool completely before decorating them!

For the icing:

1. Put all the sugar into a bowl and add each teaspoon of water individually. Add one teaspoon of water, stir, add another teaspoon of water, stir, etc.

2. Once the icing is thick (not runny), place it in an icing bag and start decorating your muffins.
