Prologue
A man in a dark suit walked slowly towards a woman wounded on the floor of an old house. Her dress was covered in blood and her hands clenched her side, her face twisted in pain. The figure of an unconscious man was lying on the floor not far off, the man in the suit walking away from him.
The man held a dark wizard's staff in his hand, the tip glowing scarlet red. The woman trembled in fear and pain as the dark wizard approached her, and then he stopped and keeled down beside her, resting his arms on his thighs. The woman glared up into his face, her eyes flashing with defiance.
The man smiled and grabbed her chin gently, looking into her eyes. "Oh Susan." He said, his voice dark. "Come with me, and I'll give you everything that you desire, and more." He tilts his head.
Then there was a shuffling sound behind him, and he spun around and stood up to find the man that had been lying there earlier, was gone. Susan took this chance and grabbed a piece of broken glass, and stabbed the dark wizard in the thigh. The wizard roared, and he spun around again and grabbed Susan by the throat, lifting her up so that her face was level with his, and her feet dangling in the air.
"Fool! I offer you a life of comfort and wealth, and you stab me in the leg. The people would have worshipped you!" Susan spits blood in his face. "I would rather die then leave my for a life of comfort!" She declared, no longer in fear. The man sighed. "As you wish." And he squeezed his hand around her throat, choking her life away and then finishing it of by snapping her neck. He opened his hand and the body dropped to the ground with a loud thud, and turning away, he walked out of the house.
The man that had been lying on the ground earlier, stepped out of a room and went to the side of Susan's body. He looked into her lifeless eyes, a tear running down his cheek. He swollowed and quietly closed her eyes just as another man came rushing into the house from the back door. The man by Susan's body looked up at him and shook his head. "I'm sorry David, she's gone. He killed her." He said standing up. David looked at his wife's lifeless body in despair.
Just then they heared a baby crying, and they both rushed upstairs and into the nursery. David looked around the torn up room until he found a baby girl lying on the ground under some curtains and he lifted her up in his arms. He then turned and looked at the other man, who was standing in the door way, and walked up to him and put the baby in his arms. "I need you look after her Luke." He said, his voice cracking.
Luke shook his head, but David put his hands on both of Luke's shoulders. "Please, Luke. For me. For your sister. I must go after him before he destroys another family." Luke opened his mouth to protest, but then just nodded. David kissed his infant daughter on the forehead, then looked at Luke again. "Thank you." He said, and then ran down the stairs and out of the house.
