The Shadow
Everything was normal in the town of Havenbrook. The dads were working, the moms were watching the younger kids while the older kids went to school. Havenbrook had a lot of tornados and there was one that happened on a school day. The kids were panicking and the teachers were trying to settle them down. The kids continued to scream and run and hide except for one kid. His name was Brendon. He didn't have many friends except for his best friend his older brother who went to the army. He was supposed to come for Christmas in a month and a half. He looked out the window and wasn't scared. He just saw the tornado that was a mile or so away. But from a very far distance he could see a man. He wasn't young or old. He looked like he was in his 30s or 40s. The man was so close to the tornado that it looked like he was about to die. Brendon was for once scared and ran to his teacher. When he told his teacher she thought that Brendon was seeing things. She went to look and there was nobody there. She told him he was seeing things and he was convinced because for another couple weeks after everything was fine. On a Saturday night he was staying up watching TV when he suddenly heard something fall in the kitchen. It was a glass that had fallen and he thought it was just some kid pulling a prank on him so he looked in his backyard and saw somebody at the end of the yard. "Very funny now get out of here." He said sternly. The man started walking toward the door and he saw it was not a kid. It was an adult suddenly his backyard light started flickering and shattered. He was scared so he ran inside locked the door and then locked his front door. He looked through the back window and the man wasn't there. He looked through the front window and he wasn't there. He went to his bed and tried to sleep. He couldn't so he just stayed up late and waited for morning. A month ed and his brother was supposed to come that day. He was happy that the day had finally come that he would see his best friend. He waited all day and no appearance. It was 8:00 PM and he didn't arrive. Brendon thought it was just traffic. The next day Brendon woke up on the couch because he fell asleep waiting for his brother. He heard crying from his mother and ran up to her. "Mom! What's wrong?!" His mom pointed to the TV. The news reporter said "Sadly a 24 old veteran got into a car accident. He goes by the name Nathan Verde. Police say he it looks like he lost control but they are not truly sure." Brendon started tearing up. He ran into his room and continued crying. He stayed home for a few days and when he went back to school he wasn't happy. He walked to his locker while people who heard about it whispered to their friends. He opened up his locker and found something he thought he would never see again. He gasped and started to cry. It was the necklace Brendon had given Nathan when he was younger. They both had one to signify their friendship. He ran out of the school not caring about what the students or teachers thought. "10 minutes in and I already ran home." He thought to himself. He waited at home for his mother and when she got home he ran to her and showed her it. It had blood on it and she screamed when she saw it. She immediately got into her car with him and they drove to the office. The principal let them in. "Hello Ms. Verde sit down please. So what would you like to talk about?" He said calmly. "My son found this in his locker. It was his brothers that as you may know got into a accident a couple days ago." "I am so sorry about that and we will look into whoever put that in there." He said. "Ok thank you so much Mr....-" He cut her off "Mr Brown is my name." Mr Brown said. "Ok well thank you Mr Brown and I will see you soon." "Bye Ms. Verde." He said while waving.
