Run | Introduction / Chapter 1

Keylani (Key-Lan-ee) lived a normal life.  She was an athletic, kind, fifteen year old.  She was very smart and adventerous.  She's the oldest of three children.  Her parents were average, and cared for their children dearly.  Keylani was always worrying about her siblings, trying to be the super sister.  She spent a lot of time with the middle child in the family, Willow (Eleven). They would play soccer together, and go out to lunch every weekend.  The youngest of the family, Dante (Seven) ed in for sports, but also enjoyed video games by himself.

Keylani's life changed drastically one night.  She never expected what her future depended on...

Keylani sat on the couch with Willow watching a movie.  They liked to spend time together before bed.

"Willow! Go get ready for bed, sweetheart." Melissa, their loving mother called.

Willow rolled her eyes, sighing. She ran up the old, creaky stairs to her room.  Keylani cringed with every creak of the old stairs.

She pushed the button to turn off the television, picked up the bag of cheetos, and walked up to her room.

She shut her door behind her, plopped on her bed, and pulled out her laptop.  She opened YouTube to watch her daily dose of Lilly Singh.

Her eyelids slowly started to droop, and she let out a loud yawn.

What is happening? I'm never tired this early... Maybe I should go to bed early..

She pushed her laptop over to her nightstand, and changed into her oversized sweatshirt and a pair of shorts.  She jumped into bed, and drifted off to sleep...

Keylani woke up to her phone buzzing on her night stand.  She grabbed her phone and turned on the blinding white screen.  She rubbed her eyes and unlocked her phone to find a text from a number she's never seen before.

The text simply said...

"Run."
