Trying my best to catch my breath, I feel my head spin.

I'm still panting so much even though 5 minutes had ed since I sat down and hid inside a little opening of a bunch of bushes.

I can hear my friends screaming. They must still be running from that... from that... monster!

I began to panic but quickly realized it, so I immediately calmed myself, steadied my breathing.

I need to be quiet...

Very quiet...

Then focus...

And listen...

"Don't!"

"Stay away from me!"

"Have mercy please!"

"Don't come any closer!"

"I don't care. All of you will go down!"

I shuddered.

No! I can't lose! I need to survive! I need to win!

As I was motivating myself, I heard laughing.

Why are they laughing?

Even though they're the reason this is happening to us... they could at least have a little bit of mercy!

We're just little kids! To do this to a cute little kid like me... So cruel!

"There's only two left..."

Eek!

Hidden! Hidden! Quiet!

Stay completely hidden and be quiet!

Just stay still... slow... and calm...

Breathe slow and calm...

When I was finally able to calm myself again, I slowly lifted my right wrist to look at my watch.

17 more minutes... 17 more minutes before it's all over...

Hmm???

Is someone calling me?

"Stasia..!"

Eh???

"Stasia! Come out, come out wherever you are!"

I fell asleep?

"Stasia!"

Rubbing my eyes, I instinctively stood up.

Eh? Wait...

Weren't we..?

"There you are, Stasia!"

Turning around, I saw Lazarus running toward me. I was preparing to run in the opposite direction when he grabbed my wrist.

"The game's finished already!"

I turned to look at him, "It's done? It's over? Really? Did I win?!"

"It ended 5 minutes ago!" He pouted, "You cheated though! It's tag not hide and seek!"

"I don't care!" I pouted too, "I'll do anything to win the necklace! An.y.thing."

"Cheater."

"Speed Monster."

"Kids! The cake is finished!" Auntie shouted from inside the house, looking out the window.

"Auntie!" I angrily stomped to her, and just as angrily climbed the window.

It caught her off-guard but Uncle, who was close by reacted quick and helped me up. I heard Lazarus running at the back.

Probably going to enter the front. Show-off

"Auntie and Uncle! You both are so mean!" I complained, "Having us play tag with the speed monster Lazarus! So cruel! My entire body aches and I'm so dirty!"

"Stop complaining! It's your fault for hiding!" Lazarus remarked from behind me.

"Shut up!"

Auntie, Uncle, and even our friends laughed.

"Now, now~ It's good exercise! And besides..." Auntie trailed off then looked at Uncle.

"You're still the cutest kid in the world! Dirty or not~" Uncle continued.

"Hmph. As long as you ." I proudly said.

Everyone laughed, including me. This is how I usually spend my weekends. It's so fun. But I'm definitely not gonna have any fun tomorrow.

And I'm pretty sure my friends will be feeling the same way. Ugh.. my body aches, but my legs hurt much more...
