I don't think i will be on hiatus often and i was going to be i would most likely be able to inform you before hand unless i got grounded

7. Link or paste one of your favorite pieces that you've written. For the sake of the applications, the piece shown does not need to be a piece of fanfiction.

Apologies this is kinda long. It was for a school assignment.

Also implied violence and death

Looking down at the long-abandoned city, she let out a sigh as she jumped off of the roof, letting her bird-like wings carry her down. She readjusted her auburn hair as she walked into their base.

“Hey, Terry. See anything?” Kyle, Terry’s second hand, asked in a monotone voice. It had been 3 days since they had seen anyone outside their little group. It scared them. Although they were looking for survivors they knew they had to keep moving.

Terry let out a long sigh. ‘No Ky, I didn't see anyone. We have to keep going.”

Kyle shook his head in agreement. Kyle and Terry had been friends since childhood. It was funny. The wolf and the little bird. “We should still check in with Jazz though. She may be able to see something we can't.”

Terry nodded once again and went to go look for the small Indian girl. Jasmin was one of the few to have more than one ability. Terry was also among them. Jasmin’s abilities let her read other's emotions and also see an outline of them that would glow a certain outline gauging their health or mental state. But this also meant that she could see if people were in the area or not no matter their ability. Instead of finding Jasmin, she found Jasmin’s step-brother Tommy. Looking at the two of them next to each other, you would never guess that they were siblings.

“Hey Tommy, have you seen Jazzy?’ Terry asked. Tommy simply shook his head. “No, sorry. I think she's with Sam since Kat went to go swim in the river.”

I nodded. Kat, who was a siren, spent most of her time swimming or with her partner Sam. Sam, on the other hand, preferred to hide in their room and doesn’t socialize much. People were honestly surprised that Kat and Sam got together since Kat was so happy go lucky and Sam was just so... sad. Despite this, everyone ed them to the fullest. Terry walked across the base to Sam’s room where she found Sam and Jazzy studying a map. “Hey Jaz. do you think you could help me out real quick?”

“Sure, Terry” Jasmin chimed, bouncing up. “Whatcha need?” she asked as the two of them walked together towards the outside.

“I was hoping you could do a quick sweep of the area before we head to the next base and scout for more people.”

Jazzy nodded in agreement. “No probs, Ter.” although Sam was the youngest of their little group, it was Jasmin who seemed to be the youngest. Not that she was annoying or dumb, but because she had the most life in her. Tommy and Sam seemed to be the oldest. Then Terry and Kyle, then Kat.

About half an hour later Jasmin came back looking worried. “I couldn't see anyone in the area but I can sense hate and fear coming from the South. We have to keep moving.”

Slight panic crossed Terry’s face “Kyle, go get Kat, We can't let her get left behind again.”

There had been a time when they accidentally left without Kat who had been out hunting fish for all of them. Terry had to race back to get her before she got caught and her powers would have been used against them. Although Kat seemed quite aloof she was not one to mess with. Her ability made the ocean her domain.

Not long later Kyle got back with a concerned look Kat asked: “How long do we have?” Her bubbly personality gone.

“I’m unsure but we don't have long. Jasmin’s keeping watch. She told us the emotions are becoming stronger”

Kat quickly nodded “understood”

It didn't take long for us to pack up. They were leaving most of the stuff for the next group. They just took the necessities. They traveled on foot. Even Terry although, now and then she would fly up to search for the following army. She knew that they had to get to the next base and warn the others. Fast.

If the army got in front of them it would be bad. There was a much bigger group at the other base. Including children who couldn't fight or defend themselves at all. They would be instant targets. There was no way they would survive. Then a panicked voice cut through the quite “We need to hurry up!”

Everyone turned to Jasmin, worried at her words. “Jazzy what’s wrong?” Tommy asked in a concerned voice, sticking close to his little sister.

“I can sense them getting closer. There angry” Jasmin mumbled her purple eyes on the ground.

Terry nodded quickly “Okay guys lets keep going. I’m sorry but I don’t think we will be able to stop to take a break. We can't let them get ahead of us” everyone nodded in agreement knowing what would happen if the army ed them.

Terry and Kyle had been the only ones to witness the horror as it happened two years ago but the other saw the aftermath, and the memory alone was enough to make their stomachs churn. Terry had been 15 and Kyle had been 16. Sam being the youngest had been 13 when they saw the aftermath, despite how badly Kyle, Terry, And Tommy had tried to shield Jasmin, Sam, and Kat from the sight of the disfigured bodies. They had mostly saved Kat from too much scaring do to the fact that Kat was so scared at the time. Despite having her eyes closed poor Jasmin could still see the glowing white outlines of body parts scattered across the room. Sam had been the first to find Terry and Kyle so they had no one to shield them from the sight. It took weeks for all of them to recover enough to fight again. It still haunted them to this day.

They had been traveling for about two days at this point and they were exhausted. They rarely stopped to sleep or rest and when they did it was only for about an hour or two Then they were back on their feet. Jasmin hadn't been able to sleep at all. The overwhelming emotions from the army kept her up and she was on the verge of fainting. Tommy and Kyle had been taking turns to help her. Sam had been keeping Kat close to their side their overprotective side emerging in this time of stress. Tommy was worried about his sister and Kyle was worried that Terry was overworking herself. Never allowing herself to not be leading the group out of fear there would be an attack.

It wasn't until the third day of travel they came across a small village. Jasmine had said that she could barely sense the emotions of the oncoming army so they decided to stop for a rest. They chose a building that had blankets and pillows. After eating a small meal of rations they laid down to rest and get some much-needed sleep. Terry fell asleep in Kyle’s arms. They all awoke to a scream.

Terry bolted awake along with Kyle. Kat had buried her head in Sam’s chest out of instinct and they had their arms tightly wrapped around her prepared to make whatever demon from their dreams come true to protect her. Tommy was trying to calm his sister who had awoken to screams.

“There happy” Jasmin sobbed “Happy, scared, relieved it's almost over”

Pure fear shot through Terry. Everyone grabbed what they could in a short amount of time and they raced North. It didn't take them long to get to the next town where the base was located since it was only about two miles away. Jasmin had collapsed halfway through the first mile and Tommy told them that they would catch up and for them to keep moving. He would protect his sister. That just left the four of them. Knowing that they were slowing them down, Sam Told Terry and Kyle to use their abilities to get there faster and that they and Kat would soon catch up with them.

With Terry flying, and Kyle in his wolf form, they were able to cover more ground in a shorter amount of time. But what Terry saw when they got to the Town made her stop dead. They never should have stopped the night before.

Terry and Kyle had tried to look for survivors but there was none. They met up with the others outside the town not wanting to subject the others to the horrors they had seen. Terry was shaking with anger. She wasn't going to let them get away with this.
