College can be hard at times. It might be a chill day one minute and suddenly there’s an exam for chapter 1-18 tomorrow. George, himself, is in a similar situation. “The fricking professor could’ve made a different due date. But no! It had to be due in a week!” he muttered to himself. His roommate, Fredrick, had just come in to see George banging his head continually on the desk. “Brain fart, huh?” he said. “I have to do a damn project on any type of animal with people I don’t even know and it’s due in a week!” George complained. “Well damn, I’ve never heard of a project having THAT short of a due date.” “He said it was a punishment for giving him an even bigger headache this morning.”“Maybe the man didn’t have enough coffee.” George put his head on his desk and said, “I just don’t know how to get started. I made a group chat with my partners asking them what animal we should work on. It’s nearly 1 AM! I sent out that message at 10:45 PM!”

Fredrick put his bags on the bed and suggested, “How about we go for a walk around campus? That always calms me down when I’m stressed.” George lifted his head and responded, “Alright...” George shut off his computer and left the room with Fredrick. Once they left the campus, they sat on a little bench and starred at the night sky. Stars were shining, crickets were chirping, and you can hardly hear anyone. “This sure is relaxing” George said. “Why do you think I come here so often?” Fredrick responded. As George slumped down to rest his legs, he heard a faint “meow”. He looked down at the ground to see a stray cat just lying there. “Hey there little guy, what are you doing here?” He reached out his hand to try and pet when it suddenly hissed and clawed at him.

“Agh!” George retracted his hand and and held it’s bleeding palm. “Careful”, Fredrick warned, “feral cats aren’t the friendliest of animals.” “No kidding, Sherlock.” When he looked back at the cat and realized there was a big, fat ugly scar on its side. It was still fresh and looked quite deep. “I can see why...” he commented as he pointed to the cut. Fredrick spotted it and shouted out, “Yikes! That looks deep!”

He pulled out a piece of kibble from his pocket and feed it to the cat. “Why do you have that with you all the time?” “Just to attract wounded animals like this one so I could take them to my lab.” George frowned and just followed Fredrick inside. He looked at the cat one more time until they finally got to the lab to fix it up.
