It was a cloudy fall. I knew it would be a energy draining day. I let out a sigh and open the cafè’s glass door. My heart was stumbling over its own rhythm. My eyes started to look for him unwillingly as I entered through door. I didn’t want to meet him anyway but first time in forever he said that he needed to talk to me in person. I walked a few steps more to find him in this crowded place. I looked around hoping he would recognize me. A few people was waiting for their order, some of them was whispering to each other like all these people were curious about them and others were laughing and eating what they have on their plates. As I wandering around thinking about going back, I saw him. With black hair with undyed white hair strands, playing Candy Crush on his phone and not paying attention to his surroundings. I walked towards his table and pulled a chair.
“So what did you want to talk about?” I said without a proper greeting.
“You sat down here without saying a hello to your father? What a shame... Your mother did such a great job,” said sarcastically while putting his phone in his pocket.
He continued, “Look at you! You’ve grown. How old are you now 16-”
“It’s 18” I corrected him without looking at his face.
“Wow...So, long time to see eh?” he faked a smile and hit my knee with such a fake sympathy.
“I’m not here to spend time with you. Just tell me what do you want”
He nodded and pulled back his phone.
“I’m planning to buy this for you and your sister”
“Buying us a car? Why? You didn’t even call me back for almost 13 years” I said furiously.
“Well, you and your sister are not kids anymore. You need me now”
I looked at his face wide-eyed.
“We NEED you?? This is ridiculous. Is this the reason you wanted to talk?” my voice started to rise as I finished the sentence.
“No, no... Of course not! I need your help.”
“About what?”
“Look, the company is not doing so well and-“
“And what? You want me to pay you? Again?”
His eyes narrowed “what are you trying to say? I always pay for your needs”
“Yeah you did. Like two or three times. I appreciate that. You REALLY helped mother out.”
“Who does teach you all this? Your mother right?”
“No!” I yelled “She doesn’t teach us anything.”
“Then what is this childish behavior? I’m your father. Be respectful to your father!” rising his voice.
“You never call me back and only talk with me when you need money. I’m not an ATM you took debt from. I’m your daughter, ?”
“Don’t turn this into drama now”
“Then why don’t you be my dad for once? You always comfort her even though my situation is worse than her. You always call her back. I’m not stupid I can see you love her more”
“I’m not going to try to convince you. Be quiet now. Everyone is looking at us. All I need is money to buy you this car.”
“I’m tired of being the quiet one. That’s why you always used me”
“Just shut your mouth. This is no place to talk about this. I’ll give you the car keys first I promise.”
“I don’t want car keys! I want a father. A real father. Not a fake one who is all over my sister but also me.”
His eyes glowed with furious flames “I told you this is no place to talk about this” he raised his hand. Ready to hit me.
I covered my face thinking this meeting was a mistake. Like all other ones. As he about to place his hand on my face, the people in café hold him screaming him to not to do anything.
He shouts “Tell your bitch mom to raise a girl with a brain and respect”
I run towards the door. He kept screaming as the door closed after me.
