Now that you know what are the main genres, let’s not forget that there are still plenty other genres out there that you can get deeper into. Let’s talk about a few famous genres and why we are mentioning them.

As a writer, you want to know what interests your readers, so knowing the famous genres is a pretty good step for that! Especially if you’re new to writing! Let’s take 5 of the most famous genres;

1. Romance:

Romance may be the most popular genre out of them all,there are many popular romance novels, the romance can either be LGBTQ+, Historical,suspense and more. These types of novels always attract readers, it all depends on how you portray the love in the story.

2. Mystery:

Want a good relationship with your readers? Add some mystery to the novel. The readership of mystery novels is huge! The reader can be entertained by solving the mystery the writer provides them, leading to a great relationship of communication between both parties, the story always ends with a satisfied reader.

3. Fantasy & Sci-Fi:

The magic in those genres always takes the reader to a whole new world with a whole new way of thinking, the magical settings and dreamy characters take the reader’s whole reality away. These genres are always interesting and loveable.

4. Thriller & Horror:

Like  Mystery novels, Thriller and Horror novels are loved as they keep their readers shaking, sometimes, readers like to have that feeling of fear and fright, which makes these genres famous, that sudden feeling of shock you give to your reader will leave them holding tight to the book till the end.

5. Inspirational:

Inspirational, self-help and spiritual/religious books are pretty famous, these books provide help for the readers and advice, mostly spiritual ones. A story that helps a reader grow and develop is always the best to come up with.
