My predictions for AEW Double or Nothing and NXT Battleground 2025

Man, two PPVs airing at once tonight. What ever will I choos—yeah no, I’m watching AEW live. Easy choice for me, just since it’s actually a PPV, as in I’m paying for it. But to be fair, both of these cards look great on paper. AEW’s definitely leaning into the “wrestling buffet” style they love to hype up, while NXT’s bringing that hybrid indie-supercard energy that they’ve really been perfecting lately. If everything clicks, we could be in for a hell of a night. If.

Let’s break this down—what I want to happen vs. what I think will happen. Two paragraphs per match, full honesty, no holding back. Let’s go.

Double or Nothing

Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Final Match - Will Ospreay vs Hangman Page

My predictions for AEW Double or Nothing and NXT Battleground 2025-Man, two PPVs airing at once tonight. What ever will I cho

I want Will Ospreay to win. The dude’s been on fire since he jumped to AEW full-time and if we’re being real, he feels like the guy in the company right now. Giving him this win just keeps the momentum hot, and it’s great that this is main eventing—Owen Hart’s legacy deserves to be treated with that kind of respect.

And honestly, I think Ospreay will win. Hangman is a great dance partner and this match should absolutely deliver, maybe even steal the weekend.

But Hangman losing here gives him a reason to spiral or pivot character-wise. Meanwhile, Will gets the rub he already earned and takes that rocket into All In season.

Want: Will Ospreay

Think: Will Ospreay

Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Final Match - Mercedes Mone vs Jamie Hayter

My predictions for AEW Double or Nothing and NXT Battleground 2025-Man, two PPVs airing at once tonight. What ever will I cho

I’m pulling for Jamie Hayter. Her return’s been long awaited, the crowd loves her, and giving her this win would be a big moment. She’s still got some unfinished business with the title scene, and this could be the next stepping stone.

But the good news? I also predict Jamie Hayter’s gonna win. They’ve been smart about not immediately pushing Mercedes to the top—probably because they know how bad it would look to immediately have her take the belt. She’ll probably take the L here, maybe even via a fluky finish to set up something later. But yeah, Jamie should and probably will walk out the winner.

Want: Jamie Hayter

Think: Jamie Hayter

Anarchy in the Arena Match - The Death Riders & The Young Bucks vs Kenny Omega, Swerve Strickland, Willow Nightingale & The Opps

My predictions for AEW Double or Nothing and NXT Battleground 2025-Man, two PPVs airing at once tonight. What ever will I cho

I do not care who wins this match. It’s gonna be chaos, bodies flying everywhere, entrances happening while people are already bleeding, and a bunch of spots that may or may not look cool. It’ll probably be fun, but it also might be a hot mess.

You never really know with Anarchy matches.

That said, my prediction is The Death Riders and The Young Bucks win. Because of course they do. I can’t think of a more fitting team to pair up in this kind of bloated, indulgent match. The Bucks are allergic to losing and the Death Riders never seem to take any meaningful L’s unless it’s on Dynamite in a random trios match. So yeah, chalk this one up as another W for the “creative control coalition.”

Want: I Don’t Care

Think: The Death Riders & Young Bucks

AEW Continental Title Match - Kazuchika Okada(c) vs Mike Bailey

My predictions for AEW Double or Nothing and NXT Battleground 2025-Man, two PPVs airing at once tonight. What ever will I cho

Man, I want Mike Bailey to win so bad. He’s been grinding for years and this would be a massive win for him. This is one of those dream pairings you didn’t think you’d get until they randomly booked it—and now it’s real. Bailey winning would be a statement.

But prediction-wise? Yeah, Okada’s definitely retaining. He just got that belt and AEW is obviously positioning him as one of the top guys.

He’s not eating an L to Mike Bailey, no matter how good the match is (and it’s gonna be very good). I just hope Bailey gets to look like a legit threat, even in defeat.

Want: Mike Bailey

Think: Kazuchika Okada

AEW Women’s World Title Match - Toni Storm(c) vs Mina Shirakawa

My predictions for AEW Double or Nothing and NXT Battleground 2025-Man, two PPVs airing at once tonight. What ever will I cho

I want Mina Shirakawa. She’s been so underappreciated in this entire feud and could bring a totally different energy to the division. She deserves a strong showing on a big AEW stage.

But I’m not stupid—Toni Storm is retaining. She’s a cornerstone of the division now, and there’s no way they’re dropping the belt to Mina of all people.

Mina’s probably going to get the Megan Bayne treatment: show up, put on a good match, take the L, vanish. I hope I’m wrong, but I’m probably not.

Want: Mina Shirakawa

Think: Toni Storm

AEW World Tag Title Match - The Hurt Syndicate(c) vs The Sons of Texas

My predictions for AEW Double or Nothing and NXT Battleground 2025-Man, two PPVs airing at once tonight. What ever will I cho

I’m rooting for The Sons of Texas. They’ve got a cool vibe and freshen up the tag division that’s been stale for way too long. A win here could help shake things up a bit.

But realistically, I think The Hurt Syndicate are retaining. AEW loves their faction champs and these guys are being built like monsters. Sons of Texas will make it a fight, but they’re not walking out with the belts just yet.

Want: The Sons Of Texas

Think: The Hurt Syndicate

FTR vs Nigel McGuinness & Daniel Garcia

My predictions for AEW Double or Nothing and NXT Battleground 2025-Man, two PPVs airing at once tonight. What ever will I cho

I want Nigel McGuinness & Daniel Garcia. Just the idea of Nigel lacing the boots back up is exciting as hell. Teaming with Garcia could be a cool story beat if they actually follow up on it. A win here would feel fresh.

But nah, FTR’s taking this. Collision loves putting FTR over and this screams “feel good veteran babyface win.” I’m sure the match will be solid—it’s FTR, it’s Nigel’s return, Garcia is great. But the result’s a foregone conclusion.

Want: Nigel McGuinness & Daniel Garcia

Think: FTR

Stretcher Match - Ricochet vs Mark Briscoe

My predictions for AEW Double or Nothing and NXT Battleground 2025-Man, two PPVs airing at once tonight. What ever will I cho

Give me Ricochet. If this is the match cement his first big program, he needs the win. And let’s be honest—this sounds like an awesome stylistic clash.

And I do think Ricochet will win. Stretcher matches aren’t really about psychology anymore, they’re just an excuse for insane spots, and Ricochet thrives in that environment. Mark will bump like crazy and make him look like a million bucks. This could be the most fun match of the night.

Want: Ricochet

Think: Ricochet

Battleground

NXT Title Match - Oba Femi(c) vs Myles Borne

My predictions for AEW Double or Nothing and NXT Battleground 2025-Man, two PPVs airing at once tonight. What ever will I cho

I want Myles Borne. The guy’s been really quietly building steam and a title win could take him to the next level. Plus, it’d shake up the brand and lead to some interesting feuds.

But Oba Femi ain’t losing. WWE’s clearly invested in him, and this is going to be a showcase to continue building his aura. Expect a dominant win with maybe a couple of hope spots for Borne.

Want: Myles Borne

Think: Oba Femi

NXT Women’s Title Match - Stephanie Vaquer(c) vs Jordynne Grace

My predictions for AEW Double or Nothing and NXT Battleground 2025-Man, two PPVs airing at once tonight. What ever will I cho

I’m pulling for Jordynne Grace. She’s been on a roll, and this is one of those rare early NXT-run matches that actually feels earned. A win here could cement her as a dual-brand threat.

But I don’t think she’s winning. Stephanie Vaquer just got the belt and NXT clearly sees her as a long-term player. I’m expecting a competitive match, but Grace ultimately takes the L—maybe even due to TNA interference, just to protect her.

Want: Jordynne Grace

Think: Stephanie Vaquer

NXT Women’s North American Title Match - Sol Ruca(c) vs Kelani Jordan

My predictions for AEW Double or Nothing and NXT Battleground 2025-Man, two PPVs airing at once tonight. What ever will I cho

I want Sol Ruca. She’s got that star quality and has been busting her ass. Her style is so unique, it makes every match feel different. Let her cook.

And honestly, I predict Sol Ruca too. They already had a good match at Heatwave last year, and I expect this one to be even better. These two have natural chemistry, and this might end up being the best match on the Battleground card.

Want: SOL Ruca

Think: SOL Ruca

TNA World Title Match - Joe Hendry(c) vs Trick Williams

My predictions for AEW Double or Nothing and NXT Battleground 2025-Man, two PPVs airing at once tonight. What ever will I cho

I want Trick Williams. It’s such a wild crossover moment—imagine him walking out with the TNA belt. This could do wonders for Trick’s credibility and momentum.

But I think Joe Hendry’s retaining. It’s too early for him to drop the belt, and I doubt TNA’s letting their world title get hot-shotted. Still, the fact that this match is even happening on a WWE show is so surreal. I’m just here for the moment.

Want: Trick Williams

Think: Joe Hendry

Tony D’Angelo vs Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo

My predictions for AEW Double or Nothing and NXT Battleground 2025-Man, two PPVs airing at once tonight. What ever will I cho

I want Tony D’Angelo—he’s still one of the most entertaining characters on NXT and this match has “emotional payoff” written all over it. He should be the one getting the win.

But I predict Stacks is going over. They’ve been building the post-split and building him as someone who can finally break away. This match is going to be all about the drama more than the action.

Want: Tony D’Angelo

Think: Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo

Hank Walker, Tank Ledger & Josh Briggs vs The Culling

My predictions for AEW Double or Nothing and NXT Battleground 2025-Man, two PPVs airing at once tonight. What ever will I cho

I don’t care about this match. It’s filler. I’ll probably check Twitter while it’s on.

That said, The Culling is obviously winning. They’re the new spooky heel stable, so this is their warm-up squash to make them look scary. Moving on.

Want: I Don’t Care

Think: The Culling

My predictions for AEW Double or Nothing and NXT Battleground 2025-Man, two PPVs airing at once tonight. What ever will I cho

I’ll be here tomorrow reviewing... well, one of these shows, then reviewing the other on Tuesday. Then finally getting to that TNA PPV I missed the other day. Then the episode of WWE SNME—FUCK, there’s so much. Well, I’ll get to it. I promise.
