Hello everybody!
Let me guess? You are reading this because you need help staying consistent in your story and/or need to learn to write faster, right? That was actually a problem for me myself in the past when I was getting into writing a story! But now, with this method I use, I am able to write a full chapter around 5k words in, like, oh I don't know...ONE DAY!
it took alot of consistency to get to the point where I am at right now. Currently today, I am writing my 18th chapter to my story right now. Probably at the end of today (US Pacific Time) I would finish hopefully. ( When it's out I'll let you all know!(
ok yeah yeah whatever, big deal...NOW...enough about me! You came into this thing to LEARN something for YOU, not to read 10 paragraphs of nonsense! Now, lets get to the point! These tips would teach you how to write with consistency AND speed, so keep reading for more info!

Set Reminders!//Consistency
-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×
Setting reminders is scientifically proven to help you stay consistent in daily tasks! So if you set yourself a reminder to write, you are most likely going to be able to stay consistent in writing your story! Before when I was a novice writer, I wouldn't set reminders at all, which caused me to have difficulty keeping consistent in my stories. Usually before it took me a whole MONTH to write just one average 2000 worded chapter to my story. Now that I set reminders, I finally noticed how I could write 5000 words ( or close) in one DAY! I know I sound like a cringe r but TRUST ME when I say reminders work!
Write on your spare time!// Speed
-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×
During quarentine, you should take advantage of all the spare time you are being handed to you right now! Using this spare time would help you write faster and also help with consistency a bit too! Usually back when I was a novice writer, I wrote while I was in school, waiting for the bell to ring, during lunch, etc. Obviously we don't have school anymore so I can't really blame myself, but sparing a bit of time to write is really good for keeping up with the time to write faster overtime.
Punish Yourself!//Consistency
-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×
ok yes, I know this one sounds like illiterate torture, BUT hear me out! So here is the thing, I hate eggs. You are probably asking, " what the hell does that have to do with anything?". Well, since I hate eggs, I told myself that I would be forced to eat them if I didn't complete my chapter ontime, or finished it the other day in the morning so I could write my next chapter. Thankfully I never had to come to that ( due to my utter HATRED for them) because I stayed consistent! So my lesson here is, if you find an edible food source that you utterly despise and find atrocious to eat, you could force yourself to eat it if you don't finish a certain goal you are trying to reach in your story! (Warning: DON'T consume anything potentially harmful and/or deadly to your physical health! Disciplining yourself shouldn't involve you hurting yourself!!)
My words/hour technique!//Speed
-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×
This technique is a little thing I do to maintain speed to help me write faster! This technique is basically where you choose a certain amount of words ( ex: 1000) to write for each hour you write. For me, I usually write about 1000 words per hour, which helps me finish faster. If you set yourself a specific goal of words per hour, you can learn to write very quickly and smoothly! You dont HAVE to write 1000 words per hour like I do, you can probably just try about 200-500 words per hour if you are a beginner. Don't thin you need to rush though! Because good stories don't form from rushing yourself. Make sure to also take a 30 min-1 hour break in between to get some rest or do any other arrends.
Block Out Distractions//Both
-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×
We all have those annoying distractions that prevent us from achieving goals in life, thats why we need to block them out. Usually my main distraction is my mother. She would always come in and force me to do all these things while I am writing, even though I tell her that I will do it when I am on break. She does hear me out, but sometimes she just ends up ignoring it. She is learning though which I am thankful of, and I do manage to get stuff done on my break time. So things that are distracting you from getting things done, just block them out. Even better, its best if you write, surrounding yourself in comfortable and warm places to improve your writing flexibility. For example, my favorite place to write is on my bed with the windows opened. If you block out distractions and/or negative thoughts of any kind, aslo surround yourself in comfort, I promise you your writing will have some improvement!
Listen to very quick music//Speed
-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×
This is pretty weird too, but it pretty much works for me. This might not work for everybody so don't be disappointed if it doesn't work for you. Now, getting to the point, when I have an amazing idea in my mind to continue my story with, I want to right it down in a snap! But my fingers sometimes get pretty tired and write pretty slow. But once I started listening to fast classical music ( for example: La Camla by Franz Liszt), I typed along with the keys of the piano music that went by swiftly. If you are a classical musician or just a fan of classical music, I would recommend listening to the fastest ones you could find! ( Not too fast though, you don't wanna break your fingers!) And if you are just interested in different genres like rap, pop, country, etc, you could listen to quick songs in those categories too (I recommend classical though to improve focus as well)
Plan an exciting plot for your story!//Consistency
-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×
Honestly, we don't even need a study to show us that we get motivated to write more when we think of something exciting for a story! Once you plan an amazing plot point to continue your story with, you will become more excited to do it. Just take some time to think of a scene that would fit great with your story! All you need to do next is write it down of course!
Have good rest!// Consistency
-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×
Sometimes, writers tend to stay up late at night to complete their stories which can cause them to feel unmotivated the next day. If you take breaks and rest more while writing, I promise you that your writing will improve drastically. I still find it hard to do this due to me practicing piano every night and me watching youtube all the time after I write. But, if you take time to remind yourself early to write, you can have a wonderful rest and won't strain your eyes from the brightness of your phone, Ipad/tablet, or computer. So make sure to sleep good!
Stop with the Bullshit excuses!//both
-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×-×
This is the BIGGEST thing that blocks people from reaching their goals...EXCUSES! Excuses are what prevent us from reaching our goals for the future, so If you want to be a successful author, stop making excuses!!!
Have Fun!// Both

Writing is kind of like a job, but you should always make it fun! Don't make it feel like you are forcing yourself to write, make it feel like you are doing this because you love writing and aspire to be a top selling author in the future! , make sure to stay consistent and write those wonderful ideas down in a flash!
To summarize, I would like to say Thank you for taking the time to read this! Hopefully you have an amazing day/night! I will keep posting more tips and tricks for authors to follow! Hopefully you found this helpful! TYSM!
