looking ahead, everything is bleak.

eyes unfocused, mind blank and unsteady, i sit.

cold and shivering, shoved by the strong wind, i’m comforted. numb.

leaves rustle, people walk by and…that’s all i see.

i am with heart; shared it supposedly.

naturally, we were like others. joyeux. amoureux.

hands locked tight, playfully teasing each other…nous étions souriant et plein d’énergie.

now? now, we are here.

we are apart. but still, i am not without heart.

neither are you. I know.

j’y tiens si ardemment. my hands ache from pressure. the hurt.
