Lets discuss dream powers!

This can be classified alongside physic powers but I thought it deserved its own post!

Main uses

The ability to enter and manipulate people dreams! You could even pull other people who are asleep into you’repp dream world. (Heeeeeere’s Freddy!) In some cases, 's power extends to the real world, such as wounds inflicted on a sleeping victim, healed damage (mental or physical) affecting the physical form, and other wise blurring the line between waking and dream. They may be able to pull someone from the waking world into the dream world or brings people/things from the dream world into the waking world. can create, shape, enter and manipulate the dreams of oneself and others, including modifying, suppressing, fabricating, influencing, manifesting, sensing, and observing dreams as well as nightmares, daydreams, etc., possibly including past ones.

Dark side

Not everyone’s dreams are the same. And people’s dream can be so vivid that they can overwhelm the . So much so that the could possibly get trapped in the dream unable to escape. In cases where dreams are absorbed, nightmares might have a negative effect on the . Or worst case scenario... something scary in their dreams escapes into the real world. (As someone who’s had nightmares of spiders the size of cars, this concerns me.) Also good luck doing this to people with insomnia. They’re probably immune to most stuff s can do. You might also be able to steal people memories, but usually only as long as the dreaming person doesn’t know you’re in their head. Because chances are the persons subconscious will try to attack you when it realizes your not supposed to be there. And in even more gruesome cases, if you die in someone else’s dream world you can die in real life.

How it’s described in writing

The main problem with power is that someone has to be asleep for it to work. Can’t have dreams if you aren’t asleep right? It’s not really defined if both people need to be asleep or just the victim, but it’s important that it’s defined. s have a limited amount of time while their target is asleep unless the also has Sleep Inducement. There are LOTS that can be done with this power that doesn’t really need a whole lot of explaining outside of set up. As long as its clear what the powers do, (making dream stuff real, going into dreams or controlling dreams) then the ways that’s applied are pretty limitless. But it’s important to pick ONE of these things and not have all the dream powers apply at once if there’s no reason for it.

And that concludes the dream powers post! I hope it was helpful to you. Good luck writing your sandmen, dream mages and sleep masters!

This is actually really helpful. :0 I write a lot of fiction, but I'd never really considered giving any of my characters the ability to manipulate dreams, thank you for clarifying what it is!
