Like a month too late, but never got to post this so here it is now. I liked the prompt so🕴

write your worst hello and favorite good bye

I never asked

what your worst hello was

But there’s no need to ask,

it’s already ingrained

in my brain

etched and engraved

to the extent

where I cannot imagine

a possible different answer

to happen.

Because I know that one night,

that one scream

that announced hello

butt-naked to the world

so bold and so cold,

was a nightmare

you couldn’t bare

and the worst regret

you’ll ever come to adhere.

My birth day.

My birthday marked the end of your love

as she soared high up like a dove

freedom came to her

and they took her

away from your grasp,

No. I took her away

as she lay

so cold and so still

you begged her to stay

laid in her bosom

never wanting to part

you knew it was too late

but you watched

as she went far far away

leaving you with one bastard

that you knew you will hate.

my birth day marked resentment

and I began a life full of strife

it almost seemed like a lie

when you saw the distaste in his eyes

aimed directly at his own son

spitting back memories and images

Of the love he wished to erase.

Sometimes he said it was all a joke

but I knew he meant every word he spoke

late nights bickering back and forth

constantly reminding me of my worth

belittling and condescending

saying it should have been me

who soared

and landed on heaven’s door.

Sick of all this bullshit,

we finally said goodbye,

And I just know

this was your favorite goodbye

I did the leaving

while you did the waving

door slightly ajar,

didn’t lend a hand,

as he merely watched.

or attempting

to try and stop me.

Btw this isn't abt me, I just wrote in a perspective of a person who lost their mother at a very young age, and getting blamed for their mother's death.
