Trapped

An endless maw of blue and dark,

Raging and raging before my petrified sight,

Turn around at your own mortal peril,

Lest it engulf and swallow you whole,

The swell and ebb of waves never end,

It makes retreat a greater fright,

Courage lies defeated within my heart,

Attuned to a roaring despair,

The depths of an infinite darkness beckon,

Salty to the tongue beneath a starless sky,

Drowning feels like a welcome release,

Compared to the ceaseless, sightless gaze from the deep,

It watches every tremble with salty whiplashes,

It covets every shiver with silent glee,

What evil lurks beneath these raging waves?

How many have they enticed to their watery graves?

I stand alone in the eye of the storm,

Waiting for my inevitable end,

To be submerged beneath one final deluge,

To become one with the nightmare that lurks below.
