Evelyn Appleton was just your normal college freshman: living on campus, going to events, doing well in school, and having a long distance relationship. Soon, everything changes after she breaks up with her high school boyfriend and starts meeting guys online. Her grades start to slip and all she can focus on is this one boy she meets in the strangest of places, Omegle.

Derrick Mallory was just your normal college graduate: living at home, playing video games, looking for jobs in his field, and going to gigs. Soon, everything changes when he decides to scare people on the site Omegle and, in turn, meets someone he least expected to.

Will love conquer all or will people try to keep them apart?

*Based loosely on true events. Names of people and places have been changed for anonymity reasons.*

This is interesting, as someone who used to use Omegle a lot when I was younger it definitely caught my attention xD A few suggestions:

I think you could omit the parts explaining their everyday lives, as it is not a huge part of the story. Stating she’s in college is good, but the living on campus, going to events, and doing well in school could be taken out. As well as her breaking up with her boyfriend, I feel that’s something the reader can see when they read the story, but isn’t something that will completely catch the attention of the reader in the synopsis. Maybe instead, you can go into more how she feels about the guy she met on Omegle. Her grades are slipping and she can only focus on him, you could add more to that to emphasize her losing herself to this guy she met.

As for Derrick, I will say the same thing. I suggest you omit the living at home, playing games. Maybe you could say he finds his everyday life to be boring, so he takes enjoyment in scaring people on Omegle?

The “will love conquer all or will people try to keep them apart” doesn’t exactly correlate with everything else in there, it also gives a huge spoiler that outside forces will try to keep them apart.

As well as, Love conquer all is a cliche, which you may want to avoid saying to ensure your synopsis is different from the other books on the shelf.

Lastly, the based loosely on true events part I think should be added to the synopsis! Many like to see that something is based on a true story, so I think if you add that in somewhere closer to the top, it will capture the readers attention.

Hope this helps, thank you for participating!
