I think that if a character would come back to life, it would come at the cost of something important to the caster. Such as their lower organs disappearing, a life of another, or an actual arm and a leg. If they were to come back it wouldn't be them. It would be how they look during their death. If they died in a fire, the body may be burnt to a crisp and unable to move well.

Yeah, with the lower body organs disappearing. ^^ I've had the idea of an actual arm and a leg for awhile though.
I'm not sure if others can relate, but the fact that there's a chance to revive someone should have dampened the severity of death in a story. The death of the character should have an impact, and if there is a choice to make the death less impactful, resurrecting them is exactly that.
Of course, if it can be written in to provide more impactful, then I have no qualms with it.
To be honest, i enjoy seeing when e.g., they use black magic to resurrect, but need to give up something they would never want to lose. But then the person or thing also comes back completely different: misformed, only the body, or whatsover.
It makes me sad but also: DEMONICCCC and laugh. ヾ(´▽｀;)ゝ
