✪ The first step to helping is understanding the illness. You need to understand what they are possibly going through. It is vital that you encourage them to therapy, and other positive things in life. Like the following:

- Invite them to calming, or peaceful events

- Encourage them to be with other loved ones

- Meditation or soothing music

- Having talks to understand how they feel about things

- When talking, be clear, positive and try not to argue or interrupt

✪Taking these steps, there are a lot more. In order to capture the full picture I suggest you research further, in order to give a more calm effect to your loved one.

✪Action is where you can easily slide in the illness, as veterans face dangers that leave them scarred, adding the element of their paranoia, or aggression will further give your story a real feel.

✪PTSD is a overlooked illness in stories. In stories that hold events that leave characters broken, people go for depression, which I am not bashing, but to add a different illness, by no means am I suggesting romanticizing this illusion, a suggestion can be changing up the cliche a bit.
