Welcome! Heres my entry for

the Code Colour challenge on

behalf of #TeamBlack. This is

based on the third prompt. This

isnt one of my best works since

I wrote it so fast, so I apologize

in advance for any mistakes.

My vision blurred as I collapsed to the ground, blood oozing out of me. It happened again. I put my finger to my temple and everything went black.

I was back again on the battlefield. It was a devastating sight. Soldiers clashed with Darklings, black and red blood mixing together. Screams came from every direction, nearly deafening me. I sat atop my horse, surveying the battle before me. We were not winning. And it was all my fault.

The Darklings had threatened war for years, but never struck until now. Until the time I only had one coupon left. The coupons had been a gift from my mother, who had bought them from a witch back when she dabbled in witchcraft. She told me use them wisely since each one gave me magical powers, but only to be used one time. I started off using them responsibly. Telekinesis to help people from underneath the rubble after an earthquake. Invisibility to follow a murder suspect and catch them in the act. Flight to defeat the dragon that had threatened to burn down the village. But after a while, I grew tired of using my powers in emergencies. I thought of the possibilities with all the magic I had at my own disposal. By the time I knew it, I only had one coupon left: the ability to turn back time in five second increments. If I had known of the bloody battle to come, I wouldn't have wasted them.

I swished my sword, cutting of the head of a Darkling. There were thousands of them. Mystic entities, shadows, that sought nothing more than to bring darkness to the world. They couldn't be harmed with regular swords; each of the soldier's swords were laced with magic. Even with the magical swords, we were still on the losing side.

I turned to my left at the sound of an agonizing scream, watching as a soldier collapsed to the ground. Maven. I jumped from the horse rushing to his side.

"Sebastian, leave me. Save the village," Maven said weakly. I shook my head and put my fingers to my temple once again, the whole world turning black.

I was back on top of the horse. I hopped, off rushing to where Maven was fighting a Darkling, unaware of the one sneaking up behind him. I yelled as I killed the vile creature. "Thank you, brother!" Maven called out.

"You're welcome! I'm going to go to the frontlines," I said. I hopped back on the black stallion, charging to the front. It was less of a battle and more of a massacre. Hundreds of village soldiers laid on the ground, motionless. The ones who were still standing were desperately fighting for their lives. I stood there, watching, not able to move. This was all my fault. If I had saved my coupons like my mother had said, the people would've been safe. But it was too late to mope; I had to take action.

I swung my sword left and right, taking out several Darklings as I galloped across the battlefield on my horse. Every time I was struck, my finger went to my temple and I went back in time, learning from my mistake. I did this over and over again, trying to kill as many Darklings as possible. But soon enough, my head began to spin and I fell off from my steed, crashing into the ground.

A sharp pain shot through me as a Darkling used its magic on me, draining me of all happiness. I raised my finger, ready to go back in the time, but I slowly lowered it. There was no winning in this massacre. What was the point of even trying? Time is infinite; I would have to continue going back forever, only to fail every time. It would be more peaceful to die and let all my responsibilities disappear. I would be...free.

With that, I felt my eyes close as all the happiness left me. Now I could finally rest.
