Introduction

Hello, Warriors Amino!

A few months ago, we made a post that detailed the changes we were making regarding Voice Chats (VCs) here on Warriors Amino. We are aware that there were many concerns towards how we decided that VCs would be handled, and we are grateful for the criticism that was shared with us in the comments of the post and in the UFC chatroom.

Through the ideas that were presented to us by the Community, the Leadership Team has since reviewed and updated how we'll handle VCs that are hosted in both public and private chats. You can find out more about the new Voice Chat Guidelines by reading the information below.

As a note, these voice chat updates will not be added to the guidelines yet as we are working on revamping them. However, they will still be enforced!

Why is the change being made?

VCs pose a risk to the safety of participants as enforcing the Guidelines and collecting evidence can be difficult. This is due to the conversations being said verbally rather than typed out where the messages can be reviewed. Evidence collection can also risk the privacy of the in the VC while it’s being recorded. The difficulty of collecting evidence leaves room for to violate the Guidelines and go unpunished. This means that participating in the VC are at risk of being exposed to content that breaks the Guidelines.

The LT has decided that we will no longer allow public VCs. Our goal is to limit the amount of reports regarding things that are said that violate the Guidelines, as well as increase the safety of Community .

Public VCs - How it works

As public VCs are forbidden, when one (1) is discovered by a helper or a PatrolClan member, the chat will get a pre-written notice that explains why VCs are not allowed. They’ll be given ten (10) minutes to wrap things up and end the VC.

If the VC hasn’t ended after ten (10) minutes, it will get shut down by a Leader or by a Curator. Only an informal notice will be given as punishment, unless a purposely starts multiple public VCs, which they then will be dealt with on a case by case basis.

Hosting VCs Privately

While VCs can no longer be hosted publicly, are still allowed to host VCs privately. The LT has decided to allow this, as finding and shutting down private VCs would be difficult. However, the LT encourages to use utmost caution when participating in private VCs, as we will be unable to issue punishments if violations of the [guidelines] occur in private VCs.

Conclusion

That concludes the VC Guidelines Changes post. If you have any questions, you are free to start a discussion in the UFC chatroom or an LT member.

the community is dead enough why actively make it worse? vcs are a great way to make friends and the drama a few people cause shouldn’t get it banned for the rest of what’s left of the community, we have basically no active chats outside of marketplaces and this doesn’t make it any better as a lot of hangouts grew mainly from vcing, this is why literally everyone has moved to discord 🧍‍♀

not to seem like i have it out for y’all but other communities on here seem to handle vcs much better, can’t y’all figure out a way to keep people safe without literally removing a core feature for everyone???

I respectfully agree. I love the LT and appreciate everything they do but personally I believe this is mostly to make it easier on them, which is understandable!! But impractical and not a great idea for the community. I hope that one day, hopefully in the near future, they can find a way to bring public vc back :))

no ya i definitely agree, and i understand where the lt is coming from. cuz how you gonna prove if someone decides to say a slur or smthn... other than having an lt member there or just recording the entire thing. but i also agree that these were hella fun, ive been in them when WA was at its peak and we'd watch dumb stuff...which was usually laggy, but still fun. same applied to other aminos, though it's been gradually dying out. it sucks, but i can sympathize with the lt AND the community, both sides of the argument are pretty good...and i hope there ends up being an alternative or smthn. cuz i do miss them. :broken_heart:
