WARFRONT 7: APOFFLE2: The Duiviri

Planes (Plains?) of Duviri is an expansion chalked to enter Warframe sometime after Railjack.

Although current details are (non-existent) scarce as to what the update may feature, DE has teased us with the beautiful little image:

So, what can we tell about this?

So first of all let’s analysis what we’ve got in this juicy little tidbit.

As you may have already noticed, there are a number of striking resemblances held between these ‘Duviri’ and the Orokin elite of old.

Namely the similarities are an elongated right arm, blue skin and white eyes*, and a general disregard for the patience of others - held by the elite one sat upon the technocyte chair.

And a vague familiarity between the design of the lowly character who seems to resemble some form of Dax.

(It has been pointed out on forums that the colour of the seated 'Duviri’s' face is different to the colour of their fingers and legs-which carries a similar tone to their partner-Perhaps a mask?)

Now, despite the similarities between these two, I do not believe that the Duviri are inherently Orokin. Nor do I believe in the theory that the Orokin based their based their aesthetic off these...guys.

But Changuis, why so skeptical?

Well, Heath Ledger, the main thing preying on my mind is the budget nature of the ‘Duviri’ augmentations. Unlike the Orokin of old, these characters have a considerably more noticeable mechanics, the elongated body part seemingly something not too foreign from what we’ve seen in Fortuna.

If I had to guess, these characters are more ‘fans’ of the Orokin, however in a system as twisted as the Warframe universe - I’m certain this obsession with a system based solely on nobility and aristocracy is far from healthy.

The body augments and possible ‘mask’ that the elite character bears are most likely permanent alterations done to the body, a representation of power and authority in their culture.

Now as i’ve mentioned, detail on these characters is next to non-existent, but a question;

Do you think that a group so closely tied to the Orokin would view the Tenno, the harbingers of their destruction, as allies? Or mortal foes?

DE has referred to these characters as a new faction, so perhaps they will be encountered solely as enemies? But if that’s the case it raises more questions like: What sort of footsoldiers would they use? How many are there?

Who’s to say this early on.

For now that’s all I have on the enigmatic Duviri, but I assure you that there’ll be much more to come in future.
