"Yeah Ryder! Just like you promised!"
"Ryder, you double crossed the Skuzzbuckets for that thing?!"
Wander watched cautiously waiting for him to keep his end of the deal only for him to just share a secret wink at Sylvia. Something just didn't feel to right but he didn't have much time to have everyone talk stuff out
"Ninety Eight?"
"You flab drasbit glorf!"
"That sure is a funny way to greet old friends... wah!"
The orange star nomad was pulled away from the battle as they made a get away plan with Sylvia trying to hot wire a ship. Luckily she promised Wander it would only be for a short while and they'd return it as soon as possible. The orange star nomad beamed knowing fully well he could trust her, Ryder though was another story. He didn't seem to be keeping his promises. Wander did his best to help "cover" but misunderstood the context and was handed a weapon. Boy things were just getting messier and messier!
"With a Blaster flab drasit! You know how to use one of these right?"
Wander was a master of many things but deadly gizmos wasn't one of them. He tried his best to mimic the noises he thought one would make unaware Ryder was staring at him oddly.
"Zap, zap! Zap, zap, zap! Zap-zap, zap!
Oh... I'm sorry. Is it more of a "pew-pew" or a "bzz"?"
"On three, we pop up and return fire real fire, okay? One, two--!"
Just on pure instinct Wander stood up and shouted kindly to alert Ryders friends of the future danger incoming.
"Excuse me opponents! We will soon be returning fire! I suggest ducking to avoid serious injury!"
Ryder was clearly growing more annoyed and Wander just grew more confused. Who or why would anyone shoot at there pals? He and Sylvia certainly didn't unless it was a water or snowball fight but there wasn't any threat or harm there. It almost sounded like Ryder was going to call him stupid to.
"What are you?!-We are trying to injure them!"
"Why would we want to do that?" Wander asked genuinely wanting that answer but again Ryder gave no response. Luckily they all made into the ship safely as Wander finished writing the note and took his seat alongside Ryder and Sylvia of course.
"And we will return your ship undamaged, along with a fresh fruit basket. Do you prefer honeydew or bingleberries?"
They were both excited after completing the mission and that made him super ectastical to. Unfortunately no one seemed on board with his high five! Wanders shrinks back in his seat with slight embarrassment feeling like the odd one out slightly. Especially when Sylvia spoke up.
"Wander, I'm glad you wanna help, but Ryder and I used to do this kind of thing all the time, so..."
"So maybe you should just leave this to the professionals."
Maybe.. maybe he's wasn't quite as skilled or awesome as them? Or rather just wait when his time was needed. Surely he could do that right? Perhaps Wander wasn't quite the professional adventuer/traveler her he assumed he had been. Well that was ok. Nobody was perfect after all!
"Uh-oh. We got company!"
"Grab the wheel so I can blast these bozos!"
"You can count on me!"
"I was, uh... I was actually talking to Ryder."
"I thought that was pretty obvious."
"Is there anything I can do to help?"
"Yes, totally. Just, um don't touch anything!"
The chase continued with much intensity until Wander spotted something from the window and alerted Ryder instantly seeing some space debris floating about.
"Uh, Ryder, we're heading toward a whole mess of stuff."
"I know. We're gonna crash right through it."
That certainly didn't sound very considerate at all.
"And use the distraction to blast the last of these losers, nice!"
"Also, it'll look really cool."
Wander once again tried to speak up but was shoved aside.
"But what about-?"
"Not our problem, buddy."
"I have you now!"
Least Ryder was kind enough to consider him a friend sorta but Wander couldn't just sit by and let this happen. Before Sylvia could return fire he took over the controls and got to work fast fixing that poor old guys fruit stand in a flash as Ryder was left baffled.
"Sorry. Pardon. Excuse me. Humblest apologies!"
"Fresh fruit. Fresh fruit for sale."
"Uh...Why aren't we moving?"
"There you go. One crate of bingleberries, good as new!"
"Wander, what are you doing?!"
"I was just...thought I could help. And...
"We're in the middle of a high-speed chase here. Why can't you be more like Ryder?!"
The orange star nomad paused again slightly hurt by his steeds words. Sure Sylvia got a little annoyed by his need to help sometimes but...that comment... it hit his heart a bit.
Try as he might he just couldn't seem to do anything right. Not cover them whatever that meant, fire a Blaster, or even doing something as simple as keeping his hands to himself. And yet Wander kept trying to suggest helping with ship stuff but once again his offers were refused. Guess he couldn't shut up either.
"Can I adjust the vector?"
"You don't even know what that means!"
" I can check the oil!"
"Just sit down!"
But on a brighter side-least he was still good at finding those! The team managed to track down Haters Secret Galatic Storage Facility after a crazy crash right into the entrance. It was reckless but also impressive as Sylvia descended alongside with Ryder making there way inside.
"That was..."
"Awesome!!"
"Nothin' better than a rip-roarin' adventure, eh, Sylvia, old girl?"
"Nope. Nothin'."
Wander emerged following them eagerly beyond impressed.
Wow guys that was amazing! You two really do make a really good!
The doors immediately locked and shut Wander out as he froze almost preparing to knock but then lowers his hand slowly officially feeling left out. Maybe it would just be best he let them handle it. As Ryder said he wasn't a professional.
Team... The orange star nomad frowned slightly dejected as he took a bonus orbale bubble and exited the ship. Perhaps getting some fresh air would make him feel better!
