Personality:

Isulf comes across as a very serious being, rarely expressing his emotions when in actuality, he has a hard time expressing them, making him socially awkward towards others at first. He does have moments where he becomes flustered, not knowing how to approach a situation, trying to apply a more logical approach to it. When around his teacher, he becomes more of a parent, scolding her for her actions and nagging her to take her duties as a guardian more seriously. While around friends, he generally tries to take care of them and listen to their troubles though with his serious face, it sometimes makes them think he doesn’t want to be bothered.

Interests:

Generally, Isulf likes to read books, especially ones that belong to his teacher that talk about the world, ancient ruins, magic and ancient history. This has left him with a bit of a knowledgeable brain and can answer most questions that some people have. Isulf likes to go out and meditate in the wilderness from time to time, feeling a bit more ease there. This is probably due to his Achak side and trying to be in tune with nature. Isulf has an interest in exploring and taking in new sights that he keeps a journal on him at times and writes down descriptions of the places he has been to, what was special about said place and any other interesting things that he noticed about it. Lastly, Isulf likes to cook though he would say his level is average, it doesn’t stop him from trying to learn more recipes and experimenting with food since his teacher’s cooking is disastrous, it’s up to him to make sure that they both don’t starve to death.

Abilities:

Being a beast-kin, the male already has the above average strength of a human which makes him a formidable opponent. He also has an affinity for magic, specifically Ice magic. He uses his strength and magic to his advantage, making him more of a battlemage, a type of magician that fights in the frontlines with magic. While their magic isn’t as destructive as a pure magician, they can easily fight at close and mid-range, with Isulf focusing more on creating weapons from Ice and using them to fight with while spellcasting aside, he can conjure up a small ice storm or chunk a block of large ice at an opponent. As a result, he trained using multiple weapons and found himself more prone to using great axes and claw type weaponry. However, because his Achak side isn’t too used to having magic, excessive usage causes his mana to flare up and become unstabilized, making it run amok and causing damage to himself.

Background:

Isulf was found abandoned outside his village of Hillford, a small community consisting of different races that’s some way out in the country on the continent of Grimfold, the human continent. When he was initially found, the villagers thought at first that he was an elf on of his pointed ears but upon unwrapping his blanket, they soon discovered the wolf-like tail that was on him and were surprised to see an actual beast-kin. Beast-kin were extremely rare due to their low birthrate and coupled with the fact of their unpredictable growth, a normal family wouldn’t be able to take care of them so easily. As they ponder on their options, the local village guardian, a Celestial by the name of Lailah offered to take the baby in and raise it. Her reasoning was that since she lived alone in a cabin near the village, she could easily keep an eye on the beast-kin and train him as well. With no other option and one that they agreed to, Lailah took in the baby and named him Isulf, thus began their young years of living together as teacher and student, though that was not to say that it was a perfect time. Lailah as a teacher was quite the force to be reckoned with, from the moment that the sun rose till the stars could be seen at night, the Celestial had Isulf trained with a multitude of weapons and constantly had the male use his magic up to the point that his mana flared up in which she helped regulate the flow and forced him to practice again and again. Though if Isulf had the option, he wouldn’t change it for anything else in the world. To him, she was an actual parent though she was lazy, barely was able to cook for herself and was pretty much the opposite image of what a Celestial was, he was still grateful for everything that she had done for him.

Presently, Isulf has become a well-liked figure of the village with the villagers asking him to help run some errands from time to time, they have grown rather attached to the Beast-kin and depend on both him and Lailah. As for the teacher and student, they still live together with Isulf scolding her at every waking moment that she should be a proper guardian, he still brings her back a souvenir or two whenever he decides to travel out from the village. While it’s hard to see what exactly the male thinks about at times, he is a person that can be depended on when things get rough.

Trivia:

Beast-kins that can use magic like Isulf have times where their magic can flare up, causing the flow of their mana to be disrupted. This can result in physical and mental damage to the if left unchecked for a period of time. To help regulate this, they require the aid of another magician to stabilize the flow or other ways that they can do themselves. (Isulf refuses to elaborate on what the other ways are, though his ears become slightly red when asked.)

Generally, his tail reacts according to his emotions which helps other people figure out how he feels about certain things. For example, if he receives a present or some good news, his face while being serious as usual, his tail will slowly wag to show that he’s happy.
